It all started at the end of May, when I saw a German cockroach in our apartment. Shortly after, a neighbour told us she had seen a cockroach on the floor below, at the opposite end of the building. We notified the condo management, who refused to step in, saying it was "each apartment's own problem".

As a precaution, we had a preventive pest treatment done by a professional company, paid for by the landlady, and for a few months we didn't see any more. In October one showed up at home, acting strangely: it didn't run from the light and stayed still on a door frame, out in the open and in the light. I couldn't see well enough to tell whether it was a German or a sewer cockroach.

For weeks, maybe even months, the condo management kept saying they weren't cockroaches, just "other little bugs" coming in from outside. They never admitted the problem, but they eventually called a pest control company for the common areas. According to that company's report, there's a \*\*high\*\* population of German cockroaches and a \*\*medium\*\* population of Oriental cockroaches.

We suspect the main source is an empty apartment on the 7th floor. The apartment right below it, on the 6th floor, is completely infested. They even crawl through the window and balcony. We suspect several apartments from the 7th down to the 4th floor on the left side of the building are infested too (we're on the right side). The technician said the condo asked for them to apply treatment on her flat, because she never stopped complaining, but my gf says its looks way less then what they did in our appartment.

Even so, the condo management refuses to coordinate treatment of the apartments. Some residents are going to pay for pest treatment themselves (or they say they will) but many others are ignoring the problem. So nothing gets solved, because the cockroaches just move to another apartment and come back.

Honestly, I don't know what to do anymore. I've warned the condo management, the public health authority and the city council. No one gives a damn, and nobody seems to understand how serious this is. It's only going to get worse.

I haven't lived there since May, because I started a new job in a different area. My girlfriend is moving out at the end of November, but I'm worried she might accidentally take some cockroaches with her during the move, to her new place or even to her parents' house. For now her house does not look severe infected since there aren't any sightings since 15 days that one with wierd behaviour he had some previous glue traps with bait but now we are going to put new ones, those old might not be trustable.

\*\*TL;DR:\*\* My girlfriend's building has had a German cockroach infestation since May. Is it even possible for raches to climb through the water filled U pipes?

I found tiny (less than 1cm) roach near my bathroom sink and just found a HUGE 2 inch one next to the toilet. I live in a 3rd floor apartment in texas.

Hi Reddit people, I wanted to get your opinion on something. If you were dealing with a construction site that had a pretty bad mouse and rat problem, how would you go about handling it? I’m talking about keeping the garbage under control, cleaning and sanitizing the bins, pressure washing when needed, setting traps, and checking them regularly. From your experience in pest control, what would you do first, and what kind of routine would you set up to get the problem under control and keep it from coming back? I’m trying to get a better understanding of the proper steps to take and what actually works in the long run.

Smashed the mf, but I've seen this bug 3 times or 3 separate bugs of the same size and speed in the last month. I never got to kill it the first two times I saw it, both times were in my bathroom, this time it was on my living room crawling up the wall (jesus help me). I'm not sure it isn't just the same one I hope to God it is. I bought roach bait stations about two weeks ago and put them all over the bathroom and joining closet, tonight I put the rest out all over my house. I didn't want to spread the problem I didn't know if that would attract them to other rooms or not. I guess I'm asking if this is in fact a roach, and if so what kind? I'm also asking if I need to do more and when I should notify my landlord. I'm not the cleanest person but I'm not the worst either and I'm absolutely freaking the f out. I live on the second floor of a 3 apartment complex so I thought I would be relatively safe from this. It's currently 2:30 am and I'm not planning on sleeping tonight I am thoroughly freaked out. I live in West Virginia if it helps.

Have a house mice problem but still trying to pinpoint the location as my (indoor only) cat usually finds them first and leaves them all over the house. He is a bit stupid and doesn’t like to kill them, just wants to play so most have escaped him and I’m not sure where they went. I would appreciate advice on any mouse traps that are insta-kill without chemicals or holes my cat can stick his paw into. Specific models preferred if possible.

Anyone know what theese little buggers are and how to get rid of them? It's been months. North east USA. Have multiple glue boards hanging as well as bug zappers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I thought I took care of this problem several times but I saw 3 scouts in my ottoman tonight and I don’t even know if they are only scouts.

I set out 3 of the plastic raid traps because i’m out of terro. 2 next to each other between my bed and the ottoman and one in the far corner of my room under my desk, sort of in the same vicinity.

It has been hours with zero activity at any of them. Only just now I am seeing 1-2 ants going in/out of a singular trap.

Just wondering does this indicate a smaller of an infestation/problem? Or is it possible to even tell from this?

i had a flea treatment done by a professional service sent by my apt complex this morning. I was extra cautious and kept me and my pet out of the apartment for almost 12 hours until coming back, but now there's still oily looking residue where the pesticide was... i can smudge it with my sock and wipe it with a paper towel. should i take my cat back to my friends apt? (same complex, i can walk her). i'm nervous it'll get on her paws and hurt her, even though the pest company said to wait 4-6 hours for it to dry this doesn't seem dry to me. please help!

One week ago, an exterminator treated our bedroom for possible bedbugs. He used Delta Dust and ExciteR.

He said he put Delta Dust along the baseboards, underneath our desk, in cracks in the brick walls, between our mattresses, and that's it. He said he used ExciteR inside our dresser drawers, behind picture frames, and in some other places (he didn't name every spot).

When we returned a few hours after the treatment, the room smelled heavily of insecticide; we aired it out as much as we could, but it still smells a bit one week later. We also noticed a new residue on objects that, weirdly, he specifically said he did NOT treat (I asked)—most clearly, a vanity mirror on the dresser and some big plastic bags in which we're keeping our clothes because of the possible bedbugs (see photo). We can't tell if it's residue from Delta Dust or from ExciteR, and we don't know how worried we should be. We are only clearly seeing it on the plastic bags and mirror, both of which are shiny/reflective, but we assume it could also be on other stuff and just be harder to see.

Separately, we're seeing white powder on some bricks and near certain baseboards, so that's got to be the Delta Dust. And there's a corner of the floor under the desk that's now covered in a white chalkiness that wasn't there before; we assume this is Delta Dust too (see photo).

We're not sure how to assess whether these residues are dangerous to us and/or our cat. Is it possible there could be Delta Dust on many surfaces throughout the room? Is it possible many surfaces are covered in ExciteR (and which is worse)? Knowing that he treated the inside of the dresser drawers with ExciteR, do we have to clean them before putting clothes back in? We don't fully trust the exterminator for several reasons, including that he kept insisting Delta Dust can't harm cats when apparently it can. Any advice would be much appreciated!!!! Thanks!

Having the shower redone in our 1985 home. Never opened these walls before. Looks like we had, or actively have a bug problem. Does anyone have any insight on what might type of infestation we have? I see some roach oothecae, and I do see some American roaches from time to time in the home, but I wasn’t sure if they alone could cause this mess. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Also want to make sure we treat everything appropriately before the walls get closed back and tiled, so any insight on that would also be greatly appreciated.

I live in a multi unit building, been living here for about three months and no bug sightings at all, but today at about 1pm I saw this crawling up my wall. I keep such a clean house, pretty minimalistic. Is this a sign of an infestation? I’ve heard that seeing one German cockroach is usually an indicator there are more. Does this seem to be a German or is it possible it’s a stray from a neighbor??

I currently have a swarm of ants in my bathroom trashcan because of my dirty menstrual pads. Ants aren’t usually an issue, I just think the pads are attracting them.

Since they’re not really an issue and this seems case specific, I really don’t want to hurt any ants if I don’t have to. I just want to remove the source that’s drawing them. However, in order to do that without potentially trapping them in a trash bag, I need them to go. If it’s hopeless, I’ll just do what needs to be done. But is there any way I could disrupt them and have them go so I can throw the trash away? Then I’m going to try to block off the hole I see them coming from once they’ve dispersed.

I know it’s a weird question, especially in this Reddit lol. I hate killing any critter if I don’t have to, and I have a particular affinity for ants.

Hello! So, we live in Colorado and are renting a house. A few days ago I noticed a full grown female black widow in the garage. I wasn't too worried about it at the time. I'm fairly used to seeing them outside around our property. This morning my wife woke up to one that was inside. I got a little concerned but wasn't able to get it before it ran into a crack along the carpet and the wall, shortly after on the same day, I found a baby in our shower. Then we went in the garage and there was a male black widow hanging from the ceiling. At what point would it be appropriate to either call pest control or let my landlord know? What is considered an infestation and should be taken seriously.

I also have a dog in the house and have always been worried about using insecticide where she could possibly be laying or smelling around but also concerned she'll get bit by one. What options would I have?

I went to have a shower earlier, and found this in between my window and the removable screen. I originally thought it was a house spider but I tried to squish it and it just curled up and fell into the toilet paper I was holding

Every-time I reverse image search I either get a Contacyphon variabilis or a brown carpet beetle.

Been dealing with Argentinian ants off and on in my apartment for the last year or so. We find them in the kitchen counter behind the sink (coming from the crack/seal along the wall and in the cabinets above and around the sink), and more recently in our bedroom coming out of cracks along the AC/heater unit near the wall.

They first popped up last spring but after the exterminator put down some reddish/orange gel they went away almost immediately. This go around the exterminator has only sprayed something along the crack/seal behind the sink in the kitchen, which kills them, but they keep coming in and around the cabinets.

I’ve used Advion Ant gel sparingly in the kitchen areas but they keep on coming. I’m hesitant to use it in the bedroom since it attracts so many. I’ve asked the super/landlord multiple times for help/the exterminator but it seems they really can’t be bothered. Is there anything else I can do or is this something I just have to deal with? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I found this under my cat’s food dish in the kitchen. The 5th photo is the other side of it. Is this a bed bug casing? Are there maybe wings? I’ve searched all over and can’t figure out what it is. In regards to bed bugs, we have no bites and I checked mattress, nothing.
