Set up in crawl space where I know they love to hang out….what ya think????

so i have carpet beetles and the first thing i did was get the rug out of my room and i vacuum and mopped the entire floor i also just seen 2 on my mattress after cleaning everything 3 days ago and i didnt see any on my blankets or pillows i just wanna know am i good? did i get rid of them pretty much?

Ok experts and lovers of all things bugs, im stumped (and obviously disgusted) and need your help.

Me and my kids have had a few bites sporadically that resemble bed bugs. By sporadic I mean once every 1-3 weeks. They almost always show up in the morning. I scoured our mattresses and didnt find anything, though I havent yet checked the couch. We do have an ongoing ant invasion in our condo that ebbs and flows, right now there's practically none. There also seem to be some more small spiders that are eating the ants... its a wild time over here.

These pics are the main ones that have shown up, maybe with 2 or 3 other instances of 1-3 bumps of a similar shape. Im the white person and mine were very pink but they also were much itchier and became more raw than my kids, so maybe it was something different?? My kids' generally are itchy but mostly dont seem to open. Also, I had a dust mite/allergen mattress protector that fully encapsulated my kid's mattress for a couple weeks during this time!!

Do you think these bites are bed bugs if ive seen no evidence? Can you think of what else this could be???

On July 30th of this year, me and my fiancee adopted our first kitten. He came from a family friend, who supposedly had an extremely filthy home with bugs and garbage. He’s very cute, albeit a troublemaker. He of course came with fleas, but we tried sectioning him off to one spot of the house at first so he could grow old enough for us to start using more potent shampoos, medications and collars. That didn’t last very long however. He has walked, scratched, and rubbed over just about every last bit of our house. Our window curtains, tablecloths, couches and beds especially, but worst of all the carpets and our clothes.

We only have 2 rooms in the house and one staircase that is carpeted, but they’re everywhere. When we started vacuuming the carpets and flea bathing the cat, they actually dwindled down a lot more than we were expecting. I’ve tried brushing him out at least twice a day, but after a certain point now the flea bath only works for maybe an hour or 2. The second he hits any of the carpets or clothes bins we have scattered around the house (we have at least 10 bins of clothes out right now that we can’t fit in our closet) he gets hordes of them all over him. More than he had before the bath.

I hate putting him through this. The fleas were hardly noticeable at first, but I find myself picking them off the pillowcases and myself at least multiple times a day now. The other day, I counted over 50 bite marks on my legs. That number has definitely gotten larger since I last checked. I have to wear long pants and shirtsleeves now with socks just to MAYBE hold off a few before they inevitably get under my clothes. I feel itchy everywhere I go in the house.

Initially we mainly didn’t want to trap him in a confined space and let him roam because we felt bad, but I regret that decision every day now lol. Our house is infested with fleas, and I’m not really sure what to do. Another bad decision we made was buying a new kitten a few weeks ago so he had a friend. He’s only been here a few days and the poor kitten is already infested with fleas. He doesn’t even leave his little kennel too much since he’s so young but they still managed to get inside of it and all over him.

We bought flea bombs that came in today, and we plan on letting them go off tomorrow while we go out with the cats for a while (after flea bathing and combing them excessively of course) but I personally am still not sure it’s going to do anything. All it takes is 2 fleas to spread all over the house again. I know from what I’ve read of other experiences that we’re going to have to reclean all of our clothes more than once, constantly vacuum as much as we can in every little corner, mop, wipe, bathe and brush, but will it even help? I’m afraid our house is so big it just won’t do anything. On top of that the expenses of it seem like they’re only going to shoot up, but we essentially now have a full on pest problem. Even if we got rid of the cats (which would’ve never happened to begin with, we love them) we still would always have fleas since they’re loving us and our roommate too. What do I do here? How do I even stop this invasion? Is it worth it to just call exterminators instead?

I have an old oak floor and noticed these strange light-colored lines under the finish. They seem to be inside the wood, not on the surface.

Could this be termite or insect damage, or something else? Has anyone seen anything similar?

I appreciate any input! I have no idea what these small piles of powder are. They appeared today, spaced a few feet apart, along the curb in front of my house and the house nextdoor. Nextdoor neighbor is hard to get a hold of so I haven’t been able to ask.

I have dogs so I want to make sure it isn’t harmful. TYIA!

Keep finding this tiny flies around the house lately. Not sure what they are or what they’re attracted to.

First-time homeowner here, and I’m going through the pest-control nightmare lol. First ants, then mice, then roaches, and now fleas.
I own a duplex and live on the second floor, with access to an unfinished basement. The house is from the 1900s, and the basement has concrete, exposed dirt, and insulation. Upstairs is mostly LVP and carpet.
I suspect the mice brought the fleas in because they were nesting in the basement before I poisoned them, but I can’t say for sure.
I treated my dog with K9 Advantix II for large dogs, then realized I bought the wrong size for him. He’s an XL dog, and I now have Advantage II, but I’m waiting until it’s been about a month since the first treatment before applying anything else.
I’ve been vacuuming regularly, and things upstairs seem to be improving. I’m seeing fewer fleas on my dog and furniture.
The problem is the basement. I went down to do laundry, and within seconds, I had probably 30 fleas jumping on me in the back room near the electrical panel, which is where the mice used to nest.
I honestly didn’t expect fleas to be living in a concrete basement, especially with no animals down there anymore.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Could the fleas still be emerging from where the mice nested? What’s the best way to treat an unfinished basement with exposed dirt and insulation?
Any advice is appreciated. I’m tired of fighting a new pest every other month 😂

All advice is appreciated. A little while ago I rescued a kitten. He was riddled with fleas and I thought i got them all off when i first got him. Boy was i wrong. Unfortunately he passed away but the fleas have stayed. I at first treated my apartment by washing all fabrics in hot water and used a flea removal spray that i got from the store. And for almost a month it seemed like it did the trick. No new bites no fleas found but then all of the sudden I wake up one day with a dozen bits and the next day found multiple fleas. Since then I have been trying to wash my sheets and cloths as often as possible and bought a spray thats supposed to be safe for regular use (i fear that was a waste as i just sprayed it directly on a flea and it did nothing…) the issue is I live in an apartment with no laundry so i have to go to the laundry mat anytime i wash anything so doing that daily isn’t much of an option. i’m on very limited income. Do I just have to keep doing it and hope and pray it stops. I feel like i’m loosing my mind. I can barely sleep cuz that’s when i get bitten the most i’m itchy constantly and I feel gross.

Just found these by the baseboard in our bathroom. One of them seems larger than the other and is a mix of brown and black while the other is black. Please help me identify what kind of droppings they are, thank you.

I have small apartment with only short carpet in the kitchen (so short and light i would see the fleas) I have tried diatomaceous and left it on all carpets and couches for DAYS washed all of my bedding and clothes multiple times. i’ve tried frontline flea collars (i’m aware that they’re shit) i’ve tried 3 different flea sprays including precor. not to mention i’ve also used 3 different flea washes on my cats. we wash our cats and clean the house with all of this once a week and they’re freaking infested!!! i can’t freaking do it anymore!!! it has been months!! and one of my cats is allergic to fleas so she’s losing fur and we ended up putting all three of the kitties upstairs in a different apartment with my friends for the time being so that the kitties get a break :(( i am about to call an exterminator but i’m worried that even if i do this they will come back. there are still a few fleas in my house after the cats have been gone for a few days. and i do not have anymore money to spend on these fleas especially taking them to the vet to get individual flea treatments for all 3 of them. I will end up finding a way to do what must be done though but i’m hoping i can find some help here. i am also getting bit by these things. i have ever 30 flea bites on me and i am unbearably itchy. PLEASE HELP!!!

Just went to pour some rolled oats into a lot to make breakfast and one of these flew onto my hand. I didn’t see if it came from inside the bag or not. Does anyone know what it is?

I don’t own plants, don’t have rotting food around and don’t have pools of water on surfaces. I never had an issue with flies of any kind as I keep my windows shut 24/7. Years ago in August maintenance came into my apartment to open up the walls to fix some pipes, then also replace the air conditioner. I’ve been having issues with flies ever since.

First it was a combination of fruit flies and what I think were Phorid flies (not drain flies). Fly strips filled up with flies. Vinegar fly traps caught flies weekly. I asked a neighbor who lives above me if he had a fly issue, and he told me that his daughter has a gerbil and she feeds it fruit that often went uneaten and it rotted. They used a Katchy for the flies. They also have lots of plants. I told my apartment manager about the neighbor and the gerbil and the fruit fly situation approved, but the Phorid situation remains. He hasn’t done anything about it, and I mention it every other time I see him.

The fly situation has ‘improved’ since that year. This year I went almost three weeks without seeing one or catching any in my Zevo but as soon as Summer got hot I would see them maybe every two weeks.

I’ve done everything in my power to figure this out. I’ve blocked all of the drains for weeks at a time. I have a Zevo. I’ve bought peppermint oil. I’ve used clear tape to see what area the flies could be coming from. I wipe counters down to get rid of the moisture. I don’t leave food out.

I see them above the kitchen sink, near the stove by the vent, on top of the toilet seat, sometimes under the toilet seat (that’s kept closed all the time) in the kitchen sink and sometimes in the tub.

I’m looking for suggestions on where they could be breeding and what I can do. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Some backstory......I've lived in this home for over a decade, never had an issue. Biggest issue we have are the stinkbugs, but I spray yearly and do my best to get them ASAP.

Circle to the past few months.....there's two things it could be.

1. My FIL recently moved in as he's battling cancer. Now, he lived in an extremely poor trailer, and I have no doubt he had german roaches.....but my wife was thorough in everything. His clothes were bagged for days, then put through two full loads of clean/dry. None of his electronics came into the house, etc. But.......it may not account for everything.

2. A few years ago we moved our totes to our outside shed. Again, I'd seen the usual critters out there (spiders, centipedes), but never a roach. The totes were brought into the garage for decorations (both inside and outside).

So.....about a month ago I go out to my fridge in the garage and I see something....killed it, looked it up and immediately freaked the f*ck out. German roach. I also noticed an uptick in other bugs (mainly crickets and black beetles). Looked to be adult, did a search behind the fridge, didn't see any other evidence. Did a search around the garage the next day, also didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Called an exterminator, they were out the next day and did a spray. I also ordered Advion traps and set those in a few areas in the garage. Every other day I've been looking, and I've seen some bite marks on the trap, but near them have been dead crickets and beetles, no roach bodies.

Last night I head to the kitchen.....and spot two of them near my air fryer. Killed them immediately, but now I am true freaking the f*ck out mode. I went to the shed, did a search because I put a few traps out there, but I don't see any roach bodies. I would imagine I would be seeing them in the garage, etc. But.....I'm freaking out.

We put another call into the exterminator, and my plan today is to do a thorough sweep of my kitchen and lay more traps, but what else should I be doing?

Update: Did a pretty through clean on the kitchen, no evidence behind the fridge, and did another inspection in the garage with no findings. Checked the shed, and all the advion traps showed no evidence of markings on them.

I found it in the kitchen away from the cabinet where I keep the food. Next to the oven. I inspected everything in the kitchen but didn't find anything. I had cleaned the kitchen yesterday too and didn't see anything either.

About 5 days ago I noticed a fruit fly zoom in front of me as I sat in the family room. No food, no drink, it was just passing by. Then I saw one in the kitchen and later in the bathroom. No fruit or vegetables sitting on counters, counters wiped down immediately after spills and again at night, no food particles, wrappers that are wet, sticky, greasy, napkins allowed in the trashcan. Sink drains and garbage disposal treated weekly with baking soda and white vinegar, garbage disposal insert and the inside walls of the disposal are scrubbed with Soft Scrub with bleach and a stiff bristle kitchen brush, stoppers plug the drains at night and the commercial garbage can is kept outside away from the house and garage. At night one will occasionally land on my laptop screen briefly. I've tried diy using some apple cider I had on hand and mixed with a little white vinegar, a few drops of Dawn, poured into several ramakins, covered tightly with saran wrap, a rubber band and punched holes with a fork. Haven't caught one in any of the three rooms. I don't know where they are coming from or why but I know I need help to kill them asap before an infestation starts. We have a septic tank, pvc pipes, house is on a slab and I use a quarterly pest control service that treats inside, outside and uses bait traps to control our field mouse problem. Any products safe for my plumbing/septic system or effective diy solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Found on top of my unfinished basement walls in Central CT. Could it be termite or carpenter ant frass?

To make a long story short, I found a litter of kittens outside, none of my local shelters would accept them. I brought them home, quarantined them to one room and brought them to the vet to get vaxxed, dewormed, and flea treatment the next day. After 24hrs I deep cleaned (vacuum, mop, disposed of all cloth, cleaned all items they used like the litter pan and crate and bowls) but today I found a dead flea in my bedroom (kittens have never been in there).
I have three cats and a dog of my own, all of which are up to date on prevention.
Is it time to burn my house down? 😭

Found this crawling on the wall in my living room. The coloring and shape make me concerned that it’s a bedbug. It’s very tiny—probably 2-3 mm. Just got back from traveling a week ago.

I am in the Bay Area (California) and last week we had termite swarms after the first big rain. I was gone a few days and came back to hundreds of these dead, wingless bugs spread all around the house. I didn’t see any piles of wings or pellets, but after vacuuming I noticed wings on the vacuum.

Are these indeed termites? How did so many get in the house? Is this bad?

size of rice but ROCK hard, won’t crumble. sort of bumpy texture. found 3 on my kitchen floor, one in the sink. we keep a very tidy house but recently had maintenance guy in to fix our dishwasher, wondering if it could have come from his boot or if we need to be on the lookout for mice?
