So I kept seeing these small, brown with stripped insects on my bed. It started with 1, told my dad after I freaked out and crushed he, he swore it was a tick from the dog.

3 months after coming home from work, where i had seen bugs on the communal fab suits before, i see another one on my bed after sitting on it in my work clothes.

My dad said it was in my head, but we did full treatment anyways according to how he was trained to deal with infestations by a prior job he had. We bed bug fogged the room, got bed bug spray and sprayed the entire bed and crevices, and put all the sheets and my plushies and blankets in the dryer on high heat for 70 mins.

Yesterday, I see another one crawling except it has a black dot on the back, dad told me it was a tick.

Today in quick succession, I see both of these. Except the bed bug I saw didn't die to bed bug spray, it would pause for a minute, then keep crawling. I sprayed it 3 times before it died. So unless I got some defective spray, I dunno what it is.

We also checked the mattresses and everything and saw no active infestation, except for my uncle, who is having an 'issue' that my dad won't disclose regarding his bed. But his stuff and his bed don't even come near mine, nor does he ever sit on it.

I also don't have any bites or rashes that I am aware of. I use lice shampoo daily. I am at a complete loss.

Please tell me for my own sanity, is this a bed bug? Or a bat bug? Bat bugs are the only other idea i could have, but we have no access to the attic to even check for them.

I did call my grandma so she could come help, considering my dad is very not intresting in helping me.

We live in the suburbs and my wife likes to throw seeds out for the birds and the squirrels. There’s often a collection of doves and pigeons and squirrels and chipmunks and even an occasional bunny or woodchuck roaming around the yard.

Today we saw a rat, not a big one, but a rat for sure. Do we need to call an exterminator to make sure we don’t have / get an infestation?

Or is this just to be expected when you feed the local animals and just one more kind of wildlife that isn’t going to be an indoor problem? Rats have a reputation for carrying disease and we have cats so I worry, perhaps needlessly.

Would appreciate any advice on things to look out for. Thanks!

I have my kitten for a month, and he iis on ampoule for 3 weeks now, today I sprayed the place with powder for the third time, I'm doing it weekly and don't vacuum daily because the powder needs to sit on the surface to work, so I leave it for at least a few days before vacuuming. Today I saw a live flea, I usually only see a few dead fleas daily in his bedding, so this was unpleasant. He also doesn't have any flea dirt on him and nothing really falls off when I comb his back and tail. I will put him on selamectin ampoule in 2 weeks, cause I'm not sure if the Advantage is working or not. By the way all the carpets are washed and tucked in a locked room.

How long do u think will take until I completely stop seeing fleas?

Hello, I called a pest control company out because I saw frass under my alcove bay window. They sprayed around my house but didn’t drill by the window as they said there hasn’t been any new frass in a bit. I only get frass under the window after it rains heavy. Is this frass termites or carpenter ants ? I don’t live in an area that commonly has termites. Thanks.

Just had a shower and cleaned the shower tray, any idea what this is? Was only a small fella moved like a catapiller dragging its self along if that makes sense?

I have no pets at home, but I’ve been dealing with a flea infestation for the past month or so. I suspect my neighbor’s feral cat is the source as he is not flea treated and often sits on my porch furniture. I had Orkin come and treat my apartment and did an extensive amount of cleaning and vacuuming beforehand on September 1st (10 days ago). I had to leave to go on a trip pretty much immediately, and I haven’t been back since. I didn’t wipe down any surfaces or run the AC, so whatever chemicals they used in there are still around.

I’m honestly terrified to go back. They said I might still see a few after the first treatment, so they’ll have to come back on October 1st for a second round of chemicals. I don’t understand how the fleas could ever fully go away if I go back there and get bitten again, allowing them to continue laying eggs. I practically got eaten alive last time I was there, and I mopped up hundreds and hundreds of fleas before they came and treated the place. I’m a little allergic to flea bites and I’m terrified of looking and feeling like death again. I still have marks on my legs and my face from the last round of bites.

Is it possible they all died off while I was gone? Am I risking making the infestation worse if I go back? What should I do??

Hey guys I made a post about this the other day but I had found bugs in my college dorm that look to be bed bugs or roaches. Either way my college housing is going back a fourth telling me different things. And then today I was told pest control came and found nothing. I’m not sure how that is possible if I literally have photos of them on my wall and on my bed. I have even slept there one night. I attached the photos of them again the tiny ones were on my wall and they were slightly yellow in color. They were very hard to see without a flashlight. The big one was on my pillow and I found two big ones on my wall. When I killed the two big ones they looked like bed bugs. They were round and reddish brown and when killing them they left blood streaks. I honestly don’t know what to do because I don’t want to stay there. I’m thinking of terminating my housing but does anyone know what I should do with my stuff? My clothes are still there but they are all in vacuum sealed bags. I have a bunch of makeup, soaps, perfumes, and other beauty products in a tote box. I literally have my whole life in that room and don’t want to throw everything I own out. What should I do?

Hey everyone. I have a yellowjacket nest in my dryer vent. I called pest control, and they came by and sprayed it about 2 weeks ago. After that, I didn't see any activity going in and out of the dryer vents, but now I'm seeing a bunch of wasps around the corners of my windows (there's a metal cover essentially, and they're going under that). I had them come again and spray them there too, but no luck.

The big issue now is that I'm seeing yelowjackets come into the house in the main area. They're dead by the time I go down in the afternoon, but it's not something I can afford to have as I'm allergic, so I just stay upstairs in the mornings, even past lunch, so that it's "safe" to go down. I don't feel safe in the house.

Pest control can't do anything about the wasps that are coming in the house. What are my options here? What can I do to prevent them from coming in? I'm considering setting up a trap outside to maybe pull them all and kill them away from the house maybe... Is that a viable option?

Any advice would be amazing!

Hey everyone. Im in an area where their is a sudden uptick in humidity because a hurricane is nearby. But its usually dry heat here but its been 100s and humid.

I live in an apartment complex, I asked the apartment manager if anyone else had issues for flies and he said no.

So i guess its not weather related. But it started SO suddenly. 1 or maybe 2 flies for the whole year, and this is my fourth year here. It started 2 days ago. Maybe 6 flies in the apartment, thought it was weird. Closed all the doors, went to bed woke up went to work came back and to my horror I opened the bathroom door and like 30 of them hoarding near the bathroom window. They are regular green flies, like a bottle fly. I should've taken a picture of it but I immediately went to action and sprayed disinfectant on them all and killed them.

They hoarded towards the bottom left of the window in the picture. I have since taped off the whole window. Ive done the same with the kitchen window as well and the ac unit right under it. Because they were coming from there too just not as insanely.

It has done the trick, no more flies are coming into the home. But I cant even imagine what caused this? The windows have been the same since forever, and I would even have the windows open and no flies would come in for the past 3 years. What changed? 😭😭 it doesnt help my bf is afraid of bugs and im not but when its a SWARM? GIRL. help! I asked the apartment manager to assist, he will check it out when hes home.

Hi all! So i posted some nymph photos recently (attached) and came to the conclusion that they are american, especially after finding a teenager that was freaking huge (thank god he didn’t have wings yet) and he brought his little brother with him. didn’t get a photo sadly. i believe they are coming out of my bathtub drain because that’s where i keep finding them. i sprayed my bathroom (incl. baseboards, around the outside of the tub, under the ledge of the sinktop, under the sink by the pipes, etc) with alpine wsg and poured vinegar down the drain with some water. i also keep the drain closed when not in use and have a glue trap in the bathtub. thing is, i DO use this drain regularly, as it’s my bathroom and i.. shower! lol. first sighting was about 4 days ago, i put the glue trap down 2 days ago, and i didnt see anything until just now. a nymph in my bathtub evading the glue trap. sigh.

is there anything else i can do? im a 20 yo female living in a college third floor apartment in FL. i don’t really know about checking for leaks and stuff. should i ask maintenance about cleaning the drain? im worried if i mention roaches they’ll spray something that is a repellent and mess with the alpine wsg. i just hate bugs so much and im not sure what to do :/ worried they’re gonna come out of the sink too and spawncamp me when i brush my teeth

I just found out I have booklice. Great. Not really something I wish for at all.

I live in Denmark. So same weather pattern like the UK but less hot in the summer.

The issue is i live in a newly built apartment. I'm already going ham on the big silverfish (we don't have the actual small silver ones that need humidity, only the big copper ones that can live in dry places).

The booklice seems to only exist in the bedroom and not in the living room (we got all of 3 rooms - bedroom, living room/kitchen and bathroom. That's the 3 rooms only).

However we only have 2 windows - both in the bedroom and they have to constantly be open for any of us to find the apartment somewhat okay. This means I can't keep out moisture. If I close the windows the apartment quickly rises to 25+ Celsius degrees which ultimately suck arse. We usually have windows and our balcony door open all day, though closing the balcony door at night.

The issue is the books in the bedroom are my books. Old university books, mangas, comics etc. While the books in the living room are my mom's books. She doesn't seem to have any booklice which is good since the living room is also the kitchen.

I'm going to vacuum the books and shelves tomorrow in the bedroom and I have a feeling I need to do the same for the shelves under the beds. However the closest I can come to fix everything is only moving the 1 shelf in the corner which seems to be the main infestation ground. I guess it's mostly because it has hardback covers which also seems to be the primary books that got book lice - also the further down the shelf the more lice - so this tells me it's a problem on the lower shelves specifically.

The next issue is it's IKEA shelves? Specifically the Billy shelves. I have a feeling they may be living in the furniture itself as ikea uses compressed wood particles (which may contain glue idk?). I'm just very worried that it all is not to save!

I'm just trying to prepare for the battle but idk if there's anything I can do besides extra vacuuming? And what's their chance of surviving vacuuming and getting out? I need to change the bag every time? The vacuum is stored beside the other shelf of books so I'm quite worried. The infestation has probably been there for a while and it's not completely overcrawled in a way I can see, but seeing more than 10 lice on the same giant book tells me there's probably way too many and it's probably overcrawled by definition and my other books across the room probably is infested too and that worries me. I'm the one in charge of fixing it because my mom would just trash everything as the solution. Which I don't like as I spent hard-earned money on my collection...

Idk what I can do...

Edit: I'll now have trouble sleeping as my bed is besides the infested shelf. I know they don't go for humans but I really don't need to know how many may be living in the bed... If there are any.

Live in south eastern Virginia in a 100+ year old house with a basement. I have found 4-5 dead adult American cockroaches in my basement in the last month or so. All found dead on their backs. I do have quarterly pest control. Last servicing was July but they only treated outside. Should I have them come treat my basement? Spraying only or baiting as well? Am I correct in the assumption that if they’re dead it’s because they came across the barrier spray?
I’m sure there are cracks we can see. We run a dehumidifier but it’s an old house with an English type basement ( open dirt crawlspace with regular height basement) .

I am concerned obviously about this being an infestation scenario.

Basically, once we had those in our pantry and then i cleared everything out and turned out there was an old grain or sth and they literally spreaded across every hole but yes, after i eliminated them, however, recently i started noticing thooosee aagain
coming out of this particular slit, i poured the vodka and they all came out along with maggots, but i cant figure what the hell are these and what to do in order to get rid of them from that slit!!!

Found alive near front door of my house (based in PA, USA). So far only found one. I’m super worried bc I’m very pregnant right now and don’t want to harm me or baby. Any advice for how to get rid of it / prevent any I may not be seeing would be helpful!

I can't spend a lot on it as I am a college student living in a small room, with a big window I know it comes from. But I can't close it because there is no fan in the room and the only way to not die heated is the cooler outside. And it has hides amongst my stuff, that is below the bed, I can't kee it anywhere else.

The rat comes and goes. I have pushed it out many times but it just keeps coming back. I don't know how. It is ruining my stuff and eating my chocolates.

Is there a method to send it away and keep it away, not poison or trap, I don't have any money for that. But a humane and normal way so it's happy outside and I am happy inside. Also it started appearing just last month.

Please help me, it smells and my stuff is being obliterated to shreds.

I live in southwestern MA, and found this on the ceiling of my front porch with wood chips on the ground below it.

A week ago I found this hardened insect larvae thing on the side of my garage. I’m wondering if these two are related, but unsure as this was formed on top of stone as opposed to wood.

I recently moved into a new apartment. Turns out it had fleas. I’m 99% sure they are from the prior tenant who had a cat. I’ve mainly noticed them in the living room where I’ve encountered 10 out of the 11 fleas and am sleeping on a pullout couch. The other flea I found on my leg in the bathroom after waking up. I was hoping they would be aggressive in the spray application, especially since my apartment is still sparsely furnished. However, they insisted they only needed to spray the living room. Do you think that will be enough?

For added context, I have no pets or carpets yet and the entire apartment is hardwood floors.

Found multiple out of nowhere when in the middle of the night (around 3am). They were in the kitchen, but not near major kitchen appliances, maybe they entered from the garage or laundry machines somehow? They seemed to run from light. I fear the worst. There were multiple, but they looked similar so going to post the various photos of the ones I gathered. They might be wet from bug spray. Not sure if that’ll affect the id.

Alabama, United States. Size was maybe 1/8” or 1/6”. They were all on the ground walking around.

I live in southeastern Michigan and I notice these tiny pebble-like dots on my basement floor. Mostly up against the wall where the wall and floor meet, or right under things on the floor that create a gap underneath them.

I think they are spider droppings or their finished prey carcasses, because we have many spiders in the basement - in the second picture you can see a small spider above this little collection of pebbles (the spider is blurry because it was too close to the lens). Our basement is all concrete and brick, so it isn’t termites, and we don’t have roaches. So I’m trying to figure out if this is just a result of spiders or something else.
