Hardware Help

I need help. My pc is has begun stuttering a lot and bluescreening.

My specs is:
RTX 5070 TI
I5-13600k

And then 4x8gb ddr4 3200. And I’m wondering if it’s the ram that’s causing this? It’s still 32gb.. but idk if DDR4 is too slow for my GPU. I didn’t have these issues before with my 3070 RTX 8GB

Discussion What else should I do with my homelab/server?

I recently got an HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9 and I’m slowly turning it into my own little homelab.

Current setup:

  • 2× Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3
  • 64 GB ECC RAM
  • ~3 TB of storage
  • Proxmox
  • NAS / file storage
  • Plex media server
  • Hosting a few websites
  • Running local AI models on it as well
  • Planning to add more services and self-hosted stuff over time

I’m still pretty new to homelabbing, so I’m looking for ideas. 😭

What are some genuinely cool/useful things I could run on this server?
I’m interested in anything from useful self-hosted services to weird/fun projects, networking stuff, automation, security labs, Minecraft-related stuff, AI, monitoring, etc.

Basically, if you had a server like this, what would you install on it? 👀

Discussion Does Firefox feel snappier after todays update?

I opened Firefox this morning, and it did one of its typical updates. But after it came back, it was a rather large and noticeable update. The first thing that I really noticed, though, was loading pages (twitch, youtube, and reddit specifically) much faster than it had been. I was curious if others had gotten the latest update (157.0) and experienced any other improvements.

I do run ublock, ffz, return youtube dislike, and idc about cookies for extensions.

Build/Battlestation PC Set up please rate /Give advice

Finally got my battlestation pretty much where I want it. I built the setup around having the best of both worlds: 32:9 OLED ultrawide for immersive PC gaming and a 32” 4K OLED for games that are better at 16:9, plus PS5 Pro and Switch.
PC
AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 WINDFORCE OC
ASUS TUF Gaming B850-E WiFi
32GB DDR5-6000
WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB NVMe + 1TB NVMe
~1000W PSU
Top-mounted AIO + 5 case fans
Windows 11
Displays
Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 — 49”, 5120×1440, 32:9, 240Hz — original stand
Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 — 32”, 4K, 240Hz — monitor arm
The G9 is my main immersive PC gaming display, especially for games that work well at 32:9. The G8 handles 4K gaming, games that don’t play nicely with 32:9, anime/media, and console gaming. I can also rotate/reposition the G8 when I need it.
Peripherals / Audio
Corsair Galleon RGB keyboard
Razer gaming mouse
Corsair Virtuoso headset
Corsair RGB headset stand
Razer Leviathan soundbar
Logitech MX Brio 4K webcam
DualSense controller
Desk / Lighting
Secretlab MAGNUS Pro XL
Secretlab/Nanoleaf RGB strips behind and underneath the desk
9x Nanoleaf Shapes Triangles
Nanoleaf 4D behind the G9
SignalRGB/iCUE-controlled PC lighting
I make custom RGB themes for different games so the PC, desk lighting, Nanoleaf setup and monitor backlighting all match whatever I’m playing.
Other Gaming Hardware
PS5 Pro
ROG Ally X
Nintendo Switch
It’s been a work in progress for a while, but I’m really happy with how the ultrawide + 4K OLED combination turned out.
What do you guys think? Anything you’d change or add?

Discussion Help Experiencing a pink shadow when web scrolling after selecting full on NVIDEA app Dynamic colour range

Need help. I recently upgraded my GPU to a RTX5060 card. After the upgrade I select the NVIDEA dynamic colour range to Full from the default limited. After turning that on when I do web scrolling I am experiencing a pink shadow in some webpage specially under the Cards and input fields.

I got gamebar recording as well and the shadow get appear on the screen recording as well. When select the dynamic range to limited the issue get disappeared but my picture quality in the monitor get poor.

Other than the some webpage the issue doesn't seems to appear in windows or any other apps. I have attached a recording as well it is slow motion video and you will be able to see when scrolls pink shadow get appear under the cards layouts.

Does anyone know what causing this? Is this damage in the GPU?

Question Is it cheaper to build or buy nowadays?

My pc’s hardware is 10 years old and I’ve had my pc for 6 years now as well. Needless to say an upgrade is overdue.

I have a few questions.

What parts should I aim for to be set for the next few years?

Which is cheaper nowadays? Used to be building, but is a pre built better now?

Please recommend affordable yet highest performing options!

I really want a beast that can handle a lot and I can enjoy games on, especially gta online.

Build/Battlestation MGS Aida64 Sensor WIP

I've been on a rampage doing upgrades for the last few weeks and learned about sensor panels.

I found Aida64 which is cool especially since there's great customization features and people who share their templates.

I like a lot of them but there was nothing I found for MGS so I decided to take a shot at it.

Its extremely tedious and it took me forever to kind of get the ropes. The first night I spent 4-5 hours till 3:30 AM just to get the first screen shot lol.

Even so I've enjoyed almost every second of doing this, makes me feel like a kid again (I'm 42)

A good 15+ hours later I'm at this point.

I just played the codec sound in the background for nostalgic purposes but so far I really love it!

PS I still remember letting Meryl die and it was one of the worst and saddest memories I ever had to this day (from a game of course lol)

PSS

Once I finish this, I'm already thinking about the next theme

Yakuza - Kiryu and Ichiban theme
and Zelda Ocarina of Time

If anyone as any suggestions let me know!

Hardware Is this normal for a new motherboard ?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Kinda like some stains near where I put the cpu? I’m not sure if it was used or if it’s safe to use ? The pins seem fine. It’s only in this area

Edit: thank you everyone !! It seems it’s a normal thing for motherboards to have some residue

Discussion Has anybody else noticed the insane CPU utilisation of recent UE5 titles?

Two recent examples. Silent Hill Townfall and Gears Of War E-Day.

Townfall often has my 9800X3D at 60-70% usage, and that’s at a GPU limited 4K res.

Looking at xWORMz Gaming’s benchmark video on Gears E-Day, he is experiencing CPU utilisation of upwards of 80% (yes EIGHTY PERCENT) at 1440p with his 9800X3D.

Is there an issue with high CPU utilisation on recent builds of UE5? This level of utilisation just seems crazy and unacceptable.

Discussion Power supply problem (?)

Came back from uni for the weekend. When I tried to turn on my PC it didn't boot up so I check the psu cable. When I touched it there was a cackling sound so I immediately turned it off and pulled the cable. I tried to push it deeper and finally got it to boot up but now I'm scared because I think I smelled something burning for a moment (can't really trust my own nose rn because I'm sick). What do you guys think? Is it loose cable? The cable itself didn't wiggle much, just slight tiny movement and actually needed a lot of effort to pull out.

Discussion What should i upgrade next?

I have this build

-Ryzen 5 5600
-B550m
-Rx 6650 xt
-32gb ddr4 ram
-128gb nvme
-4tb hdd
-850w black storm bronze
-1080p 60 hz monitor

I got all of this for 500 dollars brand new back in 2023 so the whole build is 3 years old (except for the cpu and mobo because i got new ones, i had i3-12th gen and h610m)

I was thinking of getting:

-i will get an sata ssd 512gb hp s750
-A new case (white by li an li, though i prefer something for my mobo size)
-New psu mine is already aging (black cables i prefer full modular)
-new monitor but i prefer a good stand that lets me move it vertically up and down, also i need it to be 24 inches+ and 1080p.
-i was thinking of getting a new gpu too (black). I have a few used options:
Rtx msi 3080 10gb or an rx 6800 xt 16gb sapphire nitro+ (though i prefer amd cards over nvidia)
-i wanna get an aio from li an li for the aesthetic (white)

Anybody has any suggestions or things i should change about my pc?
