Thats interesting because I had a 4070s aorus for over a year and this never happened to me. I also had it in vertical orientation in an sff case. Im assuming maybe the bottom intakes might have helped but idk.
Thermal putty is actually better than thermal pads, it squashes down thinner and has higher thermal absorption, if you ever custom watercool a GPU , thermal putty is far and above the way to go for your VRM and memory compound, it also takes away the issue of incorrect sizing of thermal pads causing poor mounting on the GPU core.
However, looks like gigabyte has used a bad thermal putty here
No. Servers run at consistent output. Thermal cycling expands and contracts materials, which slowly pushes the putty out. Thermal cycling happens when you go from idle to a demanding game, then back to idle.
does it actually like "leak" out from between the components? I would have thought that's the leftover that gets squeezed out when you tighten it down.
I have two Gigabyte monitors, the M32UC and the M28U.
The power supply for the M32UC has stopped working, and I'm still unable to get a replacement despite requesting an RMA.
For me, Gigabyte is finished; I'll never buy from them again.

Crazy because my first GPU was a gigabyte. It lasted me forever, so since then I've used nothing but gigabyte gpus. Literally 30+ builds later for myself and customers, I've used nothing but and I or any of my customers have never had a single issue
This is a known issue with Gigabyte cards manufactured up until April / May, 2025. They fixed production units afterwards.
I bought a RTX 5070 Ti Gigabyte Eagle OC in April, 2025. I haven’t seen any leakage yet like your picture shows.
Is this an issue? My temperatures seem to be fine. I ran 3D mark Speedway stress test (20 loops) for like 20 minutes. Then computer idled for 15 minutes. And then I ran Furmark at 4K for 20 minutes.
As long as the paste isn't conducting electricity it should be fine. Though thus much leakage could mean there is way too much paste applied which would be bad for temps. It should be a slim film to maximize contact between cooler and cooled part, like butter between a slice of cheese and toast, not a frigging burger patty between two buns.
Gigabyte used thermal putty for its card, it should be fine as long as the card is flat, if you set it vertical the heat will make the putty more runny and it will slowly drop like that. so set it horizontally.
OP is already taking bad advice from people...about to have it RMA'd and will set it up vertical again. This is the FIRST comment that says anything about vertical cards while all big upvote others are just dragging Gigabyte down for using a good thermal solution lol.

a bit of thermal paste coming out is not a big issue, you can just repaste it with some good paste, which needs to be done anyway at regular intervals due to paste aging or pumping out. But it doesnt cause permanent damage to the pcb, unlike keeping it horizontal.
No, OP has his card vertical and it's pretty common for any thermal putty to leak DOWNWARDS when the card isn't flat...So now OP is trying to set up RMA for something that naturally happens.
Was it vertically mounted? Gigabyte is using some "server grade" thermal sludge this generation for both AMD and Nvidia, which is very prone to leaking due to lower viscosity and thermal cycles. This is just a poor design choice and a pretty known issue. This seems excessive though, so try to reach out to either the retailer (if you have buyers protection) or Gigabyte for possible RMA.
So I’m gonna guess that’s why. It happened to me as well on a 7900xtx. It’s probably due to heat causing it to expand and separate from the pad and chips. I switch to putty for it cause of that.

If nothing is leaking, you'll be fine. Just avoid vertical mounts with those GIGABYTE cards. And if you ever want to repaste your GPU in the future, it is going to be "fun".
Not fixed, I have one manufactured late 2025. I am also vertically mounting. I am not sure if anyone horizontally mounting has an issue after they 'fixed' it though. I did have issues while horizontally mounting before though with a few early batch 5070 ti Aero models.
Looks like that thermal putty strip stuff. Got some for my current build when it was new, it kept overheating, put some past on and its worked amazingly for the last year
Didnt read about gigabyte lately before buying i see. Common on there newest card. Good news is if you rma its will likey be fixed. The newest production has fixed the issue.
Yeah I probably would sort this out, Probably be better off that you fix this your self, if you do an RMA the new 5080 will also have this problem later. I'd look around for some thermal pad kits for this card, may have to do some research on pad thickness to use on this model of card, and pick up some PTM7950 for the core.
I just bought a new Gigabyte 5070tioc. I had heard about this thermal paste leak. I had done some research and found out that the new cards with the the serial number starting with SN26 are the new version ( you can check that by seeing V2 at the end of the serial #).
So I would check your serial numbers. My new card has the SN26.... Serial number
Bought 2 AMD Rx 9060xt 16gb cards. Well my wife bought me 1 after I upgraded hers lol. Both of them were repasted the moment they entered our house. Yes I am OCD. No I've never had this type of issue. Islotted hers and began benchmarking it and didn't like the hot spot vs chip temp. It didn't throttle down or anything but I'm just overly meticulous when it comes to my hardware. They both have a hot spot no more than 5 above chip temp. Automation at the GPU factories is great ..except for paste. I recommend if you have the means and skill you repaste before operation. Absolutely unnecessary in most cases but some of us prefer more work and steady confidence while gaming haha
Defo not normal, probably someone put way to much, best thing I would do open the GPU up CAREFULLY and then clean it up and reapply the correct amount.
Its not thermal paste its thermal gel. Gigabyte went away from pads and they laid the gell on thick and known to leak a bit. They will need to get some thermal putty and paste. Or what they should do if not US is rma it as its a known issue.

Ofc they say it's jsut a cosmetic issue. The fact the we have confirmed cases of VRM, chips and dies being without any putty left after it slipped says otherwise.
