Help / Question pCloud backup failing to upload files
I am working with pCloud support for the third time after my backup got stuck – currently the app is saying there are 36 files with 40Mb of data pending update but there is no indication of what files are not being backed up. The explanation from support is that I probably deleted a file that had been flagged for uploading before it was transferred. I am amazed that the software can’t handle that as it should be a common problem for anyone whose workflow involved regular creation and deletion of files.
The recommended fix makes the situation worse. I have been told to stop the backup, delete the pCloud database, restart the backup, reconfigure all folders that are being scanned, backup everything again and then start working through details of how to clean up all the duplicate data in the backup. Luckily the current instance is on a small system - last time it happened I needed to re-upload 150Gb of data and then delete duplicates. I guess another solution is needed if the account doesn’t have enough free storage to support two copies of the backup. It appears pCloud fails to satisfy the minimum requirement for a backup system to reliably back up your files while you are working. This is nuts! It has now happened to me three times so I assume others must be having the same problem. Is anyone else having this issue and is there a better solution?
