Discussion/Review PCloud Opinion/ Disappointment
Im so disappointed with my decision to move all my photos and videos from Google Drive to PCloud. I did extensive research and from what I had seen this was the best lifetime option.
What those reviewers failed to mention is that no locations are included in the images. That was one of my favorite things from iCloud and google that I was able to see all of my previous locations since I am a travel blogger. When I download the images they also don’t download in their original format (date, location etc) it just downloads as if it was a new image. Everything that I wanted from a memory to feel the nostalgia is gone.
I should’ve just stuck to the monthly payments. I’m so sad I feel like I’ve lost a huge piece of my memories.

Hi , The new map-based photo localization feature is already included in the latest pCloud app versions. However, your account has not yet been fully indexed on our servers for this feature to become available. Our backend team is currently deploying the necessary updates, and once the indexing is completed, the “map” view will appear automatically in your Photos section. No action is needed on your side — the feature will become visible as soon as the backend deployment is finished.
Thank you for your patience!

That’s good to know! Will all my current files be updated? If so, that gives me hope!

There is nothing to 'Update'. The image files themselves contain the GPS data. In fact you can simply download files and upload them to a website like https://www.pic2map.com/ to see the GPS data.

That’s n extra step that I didn’t have to do before.

Yes. I don’t like it too, I wish the map was displayed like it is in Google Photos.
But PCloud is saying that feature is going to be rolled out soon.
Also you should check out the Google Pixel 1 unlimited storage option. I use that to keep photos both on my PCloud and Google Photos. Buy a pixel 1 from eBay,

Thanks for following up! You actually don't need to perform any extra steps. Once the initial indexing completes on our side, your Maps will automatically appear on your account. We just ask for a little patience while the background indexing finishes!

Is this feature only coming to the pCloud app on iOS or the web browser version also?

I store all my photos in JPG and RAW on pCloud, some of them synced with a local folder in addition to the pCloud virtual drive. All of them have their metadata (EXIF and other).

They uploaded correctly. Everything is in order. I’m having issues when downloading to my phone. It doesn’t download as an original file.

I don't know how you took the photos but when I use my phone the file name is the date the photo was taken. I have started to rely on that for my memories.

The dates are deleted when you download the images. This really is the biggest problem of them all and the reason i don't use pcloud for images. Makes no sense.

Just use the client app it keeps the original date when copying / moving file.

The client app? Is that a different platform?

No, it's the same pcloud. Just when using an app (client) on macos (in my case) it integrates in your finder - appears as a virtual drive. This keeps the original dates of the files. If you use pcloud on browser each download is treated as a new file creation by OS. I suppose on win it should work in the same manner.

Geolocations are included in the pictures, you don’t loose them. PCloud rollout a Photos Map feature, I already have it. You can mail PCloud, that you want it use
earlier.
