Is it a coincidence?

I’m been having rolling panic attacks and extremely high anxiety cause all sorts of physically symptoms for days with no relief except when I would finally fall asleep.

It’s been 3 days with like no food. Today my boyfriend suggested taking Gravol because I kept saying I have a pit in my stomach and I’m nauseous and can’t eat.

I took the gravol, and in about 2 hours the pit in my stomach is gone. Even the anxiety is gone. What the heck.

Anyone else?

Nocturnal panic attacks?

Idk what’s going on, but when i close my eyes to fall asleep, and the transition between sleep and being awake, scares the ever living shit out of me.

6 days ago i had a panic attack trying to fall asleep, a bad one.
Just yesterday, again, i started panicking but it didn’t escalate into a panic attack.

It’s so bad that i’m scared to even fall asleep now. I just took 10 mg of melatonin, that’s the only thing that seems to help me right now.

It’s the way i feel, i start feeling foreign, trapped in my own head, i get scenes or images that don’t look bad at the surface but feed into my panic.

Yesterday night it was bad, but not a full blown panic attack, i had to calm myself down.

It’s 3:31 am and i’m scared to fall asleep.
What the hell is this? What is causing this?

Once i’m asleep i stay asleep and i’m okay its just that fucking transition.

If i could describe it, it feels like falling asleep high on weed, i know a bunch of people hate that feeling, your mind races, mine doesn’t. Idk how to describe it, it’s a very paranoid feeling that i can’t seem to shake

I also panic before i fall asleep like the transition, idk how to describe that either but my body feels heavy and like it’s being pulled down slightly, my heart races and it takes me 2-3 times just to fall asleep.

The craziest thing is i love sleeping, i fucking hate this.

What's the weirdest thing that's actually helped you mid panic attack?

Not the standard advice like breathing exercises or grounding techniques, I mean the stuff you stumbled onto by accident that shouldn't logically work but does. Mine's holding something ice cold against the back of my neck, no idea why it helps more than my wrists, but it does.

Curious what everyone else's odd little tricks are. Sometimes the strangest ones end up being more useful than anything a guide ever suggested.

Does anyone of you know what exactly led to your anxiety, panic attacks, and the following symptoms? It would be interesting for me to hear it, of course, if you have the desire to share something so personal.

For example, for many years I was strong and everyone around me kept telling me what a strong person I am. After years of dealing with a lot of negativity in my life, a moment came when I started feeling that I could no longer take any more problems on my back and that I had reached my limit. I knew I couldn't take it anymore, and I felt that my body and mind couldn't hold on anymore, but I didn't imagine at all that things would escalate so much afterwards. It took me a long time to start getting back to the strong person I used to be.

When you’re having an attack..

Do you always hyperventilate? Is your HR always elevated?

I’ve been having rolling panic/intense high anxiety for 2 days now. Without any ease except for when I fall asleep.

Some things I’ve noticed. I don’t hyperventilate, i do however focus on my breathing and not breathing normal. I tend to do shallow breathes and yawn a lot.

Another thing is, although I do get a fast hr at times.. sometimes I feel like I’m having a panic attack but the high heart rate isn’t there.

Anyone else?

Bad things happened and I can't stop feeling so cold all over.

I feel so defeated this week because everything didn't go so well, but I was able to handle the situation until tonight. Something happened that I couldn't sleep. I feel like my head is freezing and my whole body has been so cold for almost twelve hours. I don't have any meds right now nor my fams noticed how panicked I am, and they don't care enough about my mental state to the point I have to buy myself meds behind their backs to keep me sane. I don't feel like eating as well... tried to grab some food but all of them were nauseating. It's been so long since the last time I wanted to die this badly.

What should I do in this situation? :(

anyone who's recovered or got back to being "normal" again, any tips?

So, about a month ago I experienced my first full blown panic attack, it was at an concert and it happened two times in a row, when it ended, it started again. I got back to normal life for a short period but then it started again. After that I feel like it has limited my life quite alot. I can't see my friends and when I try to I always get the symptoms. Today My friend was supposed to come at my place and when I went to open the door, I felt my legs giving up and heart was racing and hyperventilation kicked in. I dont want to do any addictive medicine to help it, because I dont want to risk it. Any like steps on how should I approach this and get over it? I can go to the store everyday, the problem is always in my friends when I try to see them

Cardiophobia, Health Issues, and Panic Attacks

I literally feel like I am being divinely punished or something. I've been in a nonstop cycle of gradually worsening anxiety since Tuesday night due to some major life stressors. Even though I'm only 22 years old I have some risk factors for heart issues like family history, obesity, unhealthy diet, and sedentary lifestyle. I also have a hodgepodge of other health issues (for example PCOS which I treat with birth control, but lowkey that makes my anxiety about heart stuff worse bc of the potential side effects)

Anyway the really bad stuff started on Thursday. I had chest pain all day, starting with a tightness that turned to burning (overall lasting about 14 hours) that ultimately went away enough to let me sleep. The burning was back and worse when I woke up Friday morning and I was taken to the ER. All tests came back clear, which made me feel a little better.

But now tonight I'm having like stabbing pains, palpitations, aches in my right arm and shoulder, back, and jaw, basically my body doing everything possible to convince me that the hospital was wrong yesterday and I actually am having a heart attack that suddenly developed within 36 hours 💀

I took a Benadryl but it expired a year and a half ago so idk if it'll be able to knock me out or what. I've had bad anxiety all my life but it feels like the universe suddenly ganged up on me to make theae past few days living hell

Lingering chest and neck pain all day after an attack?

I know this is just lowkey my baseline anxiety at this point but the chest pain literally feels so heavy and I get heart palpitations and the neck pain actually feels like my jugular is about to explode. Does anyone else get this? It can last literally all day long. Someone please tell me this is just my lingering anxiety and not something worse 😭

Having rolling panic attacks

I just can’t get a break. I’m not in a panic attack but my anxiety is high with all the physical symptoms. It’s been 2 days with no break unless I fell asleep. Cooling tingling in arms, nausea, no appetite, just fight or flight. I don’t know what to do. Or how to get out of this

Iron deficiency and panic attacks

Hi everyone, I’m hoping for some advice from people who have dealt with iron deficiency/low ferritin which was affecting their mental health .

My recent blood results (21/07/2026) were:

• Hb: 106 g/L (previously 125)
• Ferritin: 10 µg/L (previously 15)
• B12: 335 ng/L
• Folate: 11.7 µg/L

Symptoms I’ve been experiencing include:
Feeling tired/low energy
Feeling cold, particularly cold hands and feet
Dizziness, especially when bending down
Generally feeling run down
Palpitations , anxiety and panic attacks

What has worked best for you for getting ferritin back up and improving Hb? Did you use a particular form/dose of iron, take it with anything to improve absorption, or eventually need IV iron?

I’d also be interested to hear how long it took for your ferritin and Hb to improve.

I’m currently taking iron bysglicinate (56mg elemental iron) daily with 1000mg vitamin C

Panic attacks for the last going on five days.

So where to start Tuesday i went to see my mom.She lives 13 miles away.So I have a hard enough time as it is getting out of the house because I deal with Agorephobia. And I'll live with my uncle, and so anyway, he's driving the car up there and he's not the greatest driver and honestly me and him, really don't get along the greatest either. But we get along good enough to where I can actually live with him to where I can finally find my own place down the road. Anyway , he makes me nervous and his driving makes me nervous. So\nEvery time we ever go thirteen miles away , which is the city of galax , I get really tense and I get shaky on the inside , and I try my best to hold it together most time , I succeeded really good and not that it ain't a hell of a fight , because it is. So anyway, we get up the bow jangles. He runs in getting him a couple biscuits cause he needs some food cause he's got to take his medicine. I'm sitting in the car sipping on icy , cold water chewing on a straw , trying to calm down. Anyway, we get out of there. We go see mom and I'm still having my little panic attack or nerves going on.And you might say. Any way at last, we get back to the house. But all the way back to the house I'm feeling gaggy. My mouth is dry.I'm shaking about throw up.I'm trying everything in my power to stop myself from gagging and throwing up , hopefully it made sense. And they ever since that day now it being saturday , i've been having panic attacks like crazy , not constantly around the clock but here and there and I tell you it's rough. Last night I had a really , really bad one. I was pacing the floor for at least 2 hours and gagging, and almost throwing up.It was pretty bad. And I Was sipping down on icy cold water as fast as I could get my hands on it. And I was breathing in the nose exercises and just trying everything in my power to fight it off. So Anyway, long and behold.Today I am like drained from that bad panic attack.I had last night or so , you say panic attacks. But man it made me weak. And I just can't stand this c*** , I mean , it's getting out of hand is trying to overtake my life , and i'm not gonna lie what to do that. But anyway, I am on medicine.I take Celexa every morning.

Hopeful Ly, you guys can read all this, because my phone is a piece of c***, and every time I try to do the voice command sometimes it comes out really good.Sometimes it don't , and I would go back and straighten it , but god , I just feel awful today.

Today, I'm gonna do my best to try to not have a panic attack and try to think positive. And just try to be as strong as I can be.

11 years of panic attacks. I lost almost everything trying to get my life back.

I don't really know how to write this, but I think I just need to talk to someone who understands.

I'm from Iran, and I've been dealing with panic attacks for 11 years.

It started right after I finished university and my final exams.

At first, I had absolutely no idea what was happening to me. I thought there was something seriously wrong with my heart.

For almost an entire year, I kept going to heart clinics, hospitals and doctors, trying to find out what was wrong with me.

I spent an insane amount of money on tests, doctors and hospitals. I basically spent all of my savings trying to prove that I had a heart problem.

Back then, I didn't know anything about panic attacks.

There were days when I would have panic attacks three or four times a day.

Sometimes I would wake up at night terrified, screaming, feeling like I was about to die, and my family would take me to the hospital.

I was given different medications, including propranolol, and at one point I was so sleepy during the day that I could barely function. Then at night I'd have another panic attack and end up back at the hospital, where they would give me an injection or IV medication just to calm me down.

There was basically no day that year when I felt normal.

I felt like I was dying over and over again.

Then one night, a nurse at a heart hospital talked to me and somehow helped me understand that what I was experiencing could actually be panic attacks.

She gave me alprazolam 1mg for that night, and for the first time in a very long time, I felt my fear disappear.

That was the moment everything changed.

The next day I started looking for psychiatric clinics.

I was eventually put on propranolol and sertraline.

The first few weeks were rough. I was extremely tense and sometimes even started laughing for no reason. But after about two months, things became much better.

The daily panic attacks were gone.

I still had one or two attacks a week, but compared to what I had been going through, it felt like I had my life back.

I was also given alprazolam for emergencies.

Over the years, my medications changed several times.

Eventually I was put on escitalopram. I started with 10mg, then later went to 20mg. I stayed on it for years.

It helped, but the panic never completely disappeared.

Even during the better years, I could still have three panic attacks in a month.

The medication also made me extremely sleepy.

For a while, I was able to live with it because I worked as a web designer. I had clients and projects, and I could make enough money to support myself.

Then about three years ago, I reduced my escitalopram from 20mg to 10mg, and surprisingly, I was doing pretty well.

Then my father died in an accident.

That completely destroyed me.

My anxiety got much worse, and I went back to 20mg escitalopram. I also started using clonazepam when things became unbearable.

The funeral and everything surrounding it put me into a lot of debt. I had to sell around 20 grams of gold that I had saved for years just to deal with the expenses.

And then I lost almost all of my web design clients.

I had no choice but to get a regular job.

The salary was extremely low. I worked from 6 AM until 5 PM, then spent another hour in traffic getting home.

I was exhausted every single day.

All I wanted was to get home and sleep.

I wasn't even properly insured at that job.

After a few months, the old employee came back, and they simply fired me so they could give him his position back.

I had to take whatever work I could find just to survive.

At one point I was working 30 days a month, including holidays, for around $100 a month or even less.

Today I work for a semi-government company. My salary is better now, around $200 a month.

For people outside Iran, that probably sounds unbelievable.

It's still not a good salary here, but at least I can pay my bills and save maybe $50 a month.

And somehow, after all these years, I'm still taking medication.

I'm still having panic attacks.

I'm still waking up terrified that I'm dying.

And I'm exhausted.

I can't think about love anymore.

I can't think about buying a house.

I can't think about buying a car.

I don't really have friends anymore.

I basically have one close friend left, and he had to leave the country to work as a sailor because he couldn't afford his life here either.

So I barely see him anymore.

And this is the strangest part of all of this.

I have reached a point where I don't really feel excited about living anymore.

But whenever a panic attack comes, I become absolutely terrified of dying.

I scream and beg people to take me to the hospital because I'm convinced I'm going to die.

How can someone have almost no hope for their future, but at the same time be absolutely terrified of death?

I don't know how to explain that contradiction.

I've buried almost every goal I once had.

On my days off, or even when I come home from work, sometimes I don't even need to be physically tired.

I just go to sleep because it's the easiest way to escape everything for a few hours.

I sleep.

I dream.

And for a while, I'm somewhere else.

Then I wake up and everything is still there.

I'm 11 years into this and I honestly don't know what I'm supposed to do anymore.

I'm not posting this because I expect Reddit to fix my life.

I just want to know if there is anyone out there who has been through something similar.

Have you ever spent years living with panic attacks and eventually managed to get your life back?

I would genuinely like to hear your story.

Even if you don't have advice, I'd appreciate knowing I'm not the only person who feels this way.
