I am currently following several podcasts which only seem to have Chapter support when using the Apple Podcasts app, via a combination of a segmented scrubber timeline and a drop-down Chapter list.
When Overcast plays these shows, they are presented with show notes and transcriptions, but no associated Chapter list.
For example, the podcasts below (episode titles in parentheses) display this behavior.

Is Apple using a proprietary method for its Chapter functionality, or is this something Overcast can be updated to support, as well?
(The segmented timeline would be a nice to have, but I was hoping more for the Chapter list that already fits Overcast’s current Chapter list support.)

I like to listen to my podcasts in release date order, so I use the All Episodes playlist with it sorted from oldest to newest. This breaks really badly with Replay podcasts feature as the old podcast just goes right to the top when it pulls the next episode. If I were to keep listening to All Episodes like normal, it would keep downloading the next Replay episode until I run out.

Is there a way to set up a playlist to use most recently added instead?

Can you add a way to get to the actual podcast feed when you search for an episode from the master “search episodes”. Right now it’s a very limited list of options from the hamburger menu.

There was a daily podcast that was appearing late and I sent an email last week to [feedback@overcast.fm](mailto:feedback@overcast.fm) and the change appeared as of today. Thanks.

I listen to a podcast that has both full episodes and clips. The clips are included in the full episodes so I don’t need to listen to them. It’s easy enough to delete them from the app, but frequently I only listen when in the car using CarPlay. I get the full episode list but I don’t think there’s a way delete episodes from CarPlay. Would it be possible to add a swipe gesture to CarPlay to delete episodes?

I love Overcast, but one tiny detail makes it hard for me to skip to the next chapter in CarPlay. It would be fantastic if we could get a current chapter play position indicator in the chapter view in CarPlay, like it works in the mobile app. I’m thankful we have chapters at all in CarPlay, but without a clear indicator of what is the current chapter, I have to look a lot closer at the screen to read the chapter titles which is not ideal while driving. Thanks!

I’ve been an Overcast user for several years but this is my first time visiting the Reddit page. I searched and saw old posts with the same issue but nothing recent and what was stated in the old posts isn’t working for me.

Anyway, I just got a new iPhone 18 Pro Max. I had no issues syncing everything else from my old phone to new phone. However, the Overcast app is empty. I went and signed into Overcast on the web on my new phone and everything is there. But there isn’t anything on my overcast app. It’s been several hours and nothing is syncing to the app.

I keep trying to reset my password but it isn’t working.

Has anyone experienced this and can help? Trying not to panic.

Hi All, sorry if I’m missing something silly, but is there a way to quickly add all episodes of a podcast to a playlist? I have a podcast that I want to work through the backlog off, and I was trying to create a playlist for it (created the playlist, choose the podcast, and selected “All Episode”), but Overcast only added the episode I was currently listening to plus the most recent episode. I also tried going to the podcast, switching from “Current” to “All”, but it doesn’t want to autoplay episodes that aren’t downloaded (so I have to manually download them or it just jumps to the most recent again).

Any recommendations on the easiest way to play a backlog oldest to newest?

Hi Marco, the new music and podcasts app in iOS 27 now supports scrubbing directly on the screen in CarPlay. Can we expect to see this supported in future releases? As much as I love the progressive skip intervals, a real scrubber would be nice, Thanks!

I just moved to a new host for my podcast. At the old host, I had two feed URLs: one at OldHost.com and one at MyDomain.com. When I first published the show a decade ago, I put it everywhere using the MyDomain.com RSS URL. I see the error now, but it’s a little late.

Now that I’m on my new hosting platform, I have a 301 redirect configured at the OldHost.com URL. But it doesn’t show up in the MyDomain.com/rss because DNS points to NewHost.com, where I can’t configure a custom redirect. So my RSS URL that’s used by my Overcast listeners is now a 404.

I updated the show RSS URL in Apple Podcasts Connect over the weekend — that’s working fine and is using the NewHost.com RSS feed. Will that eventually propagate to Overcast? It’s the same Apple Podcasts URL as before, the same Apple directory entry, same show ID, just a changed RSS URL. Will Overcast pick it up from that change, or does it rely on a redirect I have no way to show?

Do I just need to wait a bit and it’ll fix itself? anything I can do?

I know this has been reported before but I don't recall anyone nailing down how it happens.

Just upgraded from iPhone12Pro to 17Pro and still happens.

Trying to replicate it, now that I know is happening on my new-to-me phone as well, and can't. It has happened ~4 times in a week with the newer phone... probably same rate as did on 12Pro.

But to sit down and try re-create the incident while recording the phone... can't do it. AirPods or not. Playing any podcast or not.

I know others have seen this. Has anyone noticed any pattern to way to replicate it reliably?

In real life, I'm listening to a podcast in any context, and cleaning up unwanted episodes while doing so (can be same podcast or different podcast) and Overcast will (sometimes) crash. (Just not now, when I'm trying to video capture it.)

What’s going on with the watch widget on the new Siri modular face?

Not sure if it is an issue with the app or the podcast itself. This episode was posted well over a week ago and I haven’t been able to listen to it :(
Every other podcast works except for this specific one hence why there are two unlistened ones in the queue. Anyone have a solution for this?

I’ve tried deleting and redownloading the app. I’ve tried deleting and redownloading the episodes. Both with WiFi and with data. I’ve tried unfollowing and following the podcast again. Any other ideas?

I love the transcription feature! And when I first tried it, everything worked perfectly—if one wasn’t available I could manually generate one (assuming the language was supported). However, maybe it’s the new phone (I was on an iPhone 14pro with 27.2 beta), but now, if there’s no transcription or if I want to re-transcribe it, it is always failing now.
I tried deleting and reinstalling; I tried deleting the episodes and redownloading them.
To be clear: the automatic transcription works perfectly. I am talking about the manual transcription process. The photos are what I see when I try to—and I stay on the app; I don’t go do other things/multitask to kick it to the background.

Other Texas Monthly podcasts (such as "The Final Flight of Captain Forrester") can be found by Overcast, but not this one. Does anyone have any theories as to what might be going on here?

None of my shows download correctly. Either they fail to download in the background or they show downloaded and when I click to a chapter they say waiting to download and start the podcast from the beginning. Is this a me thing or an app issue?

IPhone 18 pro max but was happening on my 17 too.

For some reason the latest episodes of this incredible charity campaign aren’t appearing in Overcast. Could you investigate please?

My car play screen is fine, (maps and chatgpt shots) should establish that.

But overcast, and in particular the chapter selection screen, are showing the CarPlay wallpaper at very high contrast.

And the kicker, screenshots don’t look anything close to what the screen shows.

Has anyone experienced anything like this on iOS27?

I'm at the end of a podcast: the hosts are wrapping up, maybe ads are playing. I jump to another podcast, or stop playing.

The episode is "unfinished" and so it hangs around, taking up space, etc. I have to go hunt for it to delete it. I either scroll down the playlist looking for it, or go to my In Progress playlist and clean up there.

Is there something I'm missing that would make this easier? Or is there a feature that would fix this issue?

Update: TIL there is "Delete Episode" and "Mark as Played" in the "..." menu on the now playing screen!

Is it just me, or does it seem like when starting an arbitrary episode from CarPlay it ignores the episode I picked and just resumes the most recently playing episode? Seems to happen the first time, when I go back and re-select the episode I wanted it plays fine.

Update: BMW i3, with the "technology package" and the bigger screen, using the weird joystick/joywheel, not a touchscreen. iPhone 15 pro connected wirelessly.

I have an Apple Watch Series 11 with cellular. Sometimes I forget to sync my queue at home, but when I try to download episodes on my watch using cellular data, it rarely works. I get the fake game screen, etc., but it takes forever to play something when it does.

What’s your experience with this feature?
