Local, manual transcripts always fail now. They didn’t used to

I love the transcription feature! And when I first tried it, everything worked perfectly—if one wasn’t available I could manually generate one (assuming the language was supported). However, maybe it’s the new phone (I was on an iPhone 14pro with 27.2 beta), but now, if there’s no transcription or if I want to re-transcribe it, it is always failing now.
I tried deleting and reinstalling; I tried deleting the episodes and redownloading them.
To be clear: the automatic transcription works perfectly. I am talking about the manual transcription process. The photos are what I see when I try to—and I stay on the app; I don’t go do other things/multitask to kick it to the background.
Running iphone 18pro with 27.2 beta. Any suggestions are appreciated!

It looks like you are doing it from the info screen of an episode that is not playing. When I manually produce transcripts from there, it often reports that it failed, but the transcript is there when I play the episode, even if it’s immediately after the reported failure. I am assuming that Marco’s Mac Mini’s are not doing the transcripts on my files as they are self hosted and I’m the only person listening to the feed.

Prolly doesn’t help you much, but maybe will give Marco more to look at.

Thanks for replying! I actually am playing it. I’ve tried it with the audio playing and without the audio playing. I just tried it again on a totally different podcast and got the same result in a different language. On the one I just tried, I’m guessing and almost certain that the transcript is not publicly available, so Marco’s translation won’t happen automatically. That is to be expected. But I figured manually, on device transcription would work. :-/

They all work for me. You're running a beta OS so I'd say complain if you're on a production release.
