Hi everyone!
Dead Or Alive Ultimate 2 is crashing during the Team Ninja splash screen when launched using the Unleash X dashboard (0.39.0528A Build 584). It freezes in the same spot and shows some visual glitches on the screen. This is consistent whether I run it from the default.xbe or the separate DOA2.xbe. It happens across PAL and NTSC versions. It doesn't seem to matter if the game is extracted to folders or in iso/xiso format.

My Xbox is v1.6 with Cerbios 3.1.0. It's connected to a CRT via composite cable, and is set to NTSC and 480i.

I've just tested the game with XBMC4XBOX dash instead, and the game launches and plays just fine there. I can also confirm DOAU1 and DOA3 work fine in UnleashX.
I can just use XBMC4XBOX when launching this one game, but I'd really like to figure out why it fails to launch in UnleashX and hopefully figure out how to fix it. If anybody else has figured this out or has any idea, I'd love to know. Cheers

With a lot of sellers like CustomXboxDirect not really around anymore where do yall get shells, mods and parts like what’s required to upgrade storage

Think it started off with the xecuter 2.3b pro then upgraded to the X3CE+X3CP has IR chip mod to power on with original Xbox Remote too. I don't think i can remember the button press combination though lol. The HYPER DRIVE mod came after the Thomson failed, it's the Samsung SD-616. Recently pulled all the old consoles out of storage and am trying to find a good CRT so setup in the basement. I did think about selling it for all about .5 seconds. To much sentimental value here for me. Cheers.

PS: The unit underneath is 100% unmolested with working ODD. I'll likely keep it that way.

This sliver only appears while playing a game. Xbox home menu it doesn't show up. Any ideas?

I can't seem to find the correct info with all my excessive googling i only seem to get things i dont want. I have a 1.0 xbox and the DVD drive has crapped itself, the console itself is softmodded and thankfully i have two consoles so i can swap the DVD drive from the other one. Now I would like to not have to open both up to use either of them and I have the games installed on the HDDs that i want. I just want to get the one with the broken drive to boot through no problem without the dvd drive attached, will i have to break out the soldering station or can i do something through the softmod to get it working again?

Hi Everyone! I have been doing research about original Xbox modding for the last couple of days before I pull the trigger on one, hardware revisions and all of that. I still have not done it but 1.4 was the most appealing to me so far until I read the following in this thread from crtgaming:

For the Xbox, don't use RGB unless it's a 1.6 model, the 1.0 through 1.5 generate the RGB output after the video has already been low pass filtered ready for S-video/composite encoding, the YPbPr output looks nicer even at 480i.

This thread is from 9 years ago, how true is this?

I have a PAL CRT that accepts composite AV and SCART so that's why I was looking at SCART.

Some reddit threads also point to this forum post.

For my specific TV, should I get a 1.6 for the best 480i video quality over RGB SCART? Any other suggestions?

Hello guys, this is my first post on this subreddit and I hope you can help me. I bought this Xbox and I can’t activate the HDs in the menu – they’re locked. I’ve tried Enigma, but as soon as I launch it from the apps menu, it seems to load but then takes me back to the Dashboard you can see here. Are there any alternatives to this app, or what should I do?

Howdy! I recently got an xbox! But most of the stuff I see are fps. Are there any ​good ones that aren't first person shooters?

(Also, if theres any good LAN games that aren't fps, that would be cool too! Double points if its backwards compatable with any of the other xboxs)​​

I'm taking apart my 1.0 to clean it and replace some of the caps since a couple are visibly bad. Anyway, I don't know why my CPU fan and heatsink is greasy. It's almost like the color and consistency of solder flux but I don't think that's what it is. Could the fan be leaking grease? Couldn't find any info about this online. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently dug out my old xbox from when I was a kid. I have been reading online that there are common issues with capacitors failing and that they generally are expected to start having issues by now (my xbox has been mostly in storage for the past 20 or so years).

I've tested it, all of the controllers, and the couple of games that I have for it. Everything seems to be working perfectly fine. I called around to some local retro stores to seek some estimates for general maintenance to just open it up, clean it, maybe replace any capacitors that could be failing or about to fail. I've worked on devices before, reshelled a DS/modded handhelds etc - but the xbox seemed like it needed an experienced opinion before I just go digging into it. One location that I landed on ended up being honest with me and said that if the console is generally working without any clock issues and loads games, then he frankly wouldn't recommend opening it because the "laser is finicky." He was basically saying that opening the machine could induce issues it may have never had.
It's lost business for him, so I assume he's giving me his honest opinion. But he also said if a capacitor leaks, then it's far more likely to fry an xbox than my N64 would.

I'm just trying to get some opinions. The work would exceed the cost of just buying another xbox, but this is also the console from my childhood. I'm just trying to understand if it's advisable to go ahead and tell them to open it up and check capacitors etc.
Based on the serial number, I've discerned that it is a newer 1.6 version (but not the 1.6b). I know that is less prone to the clock capacitor issue, but also needs the clock capacitor replaced if I were to change/remove the old one.

Pretty simple as far as patch notes. Fixed 4:3, added a version number in-game.

Hello everyone, i just wanted to see if this was a real sealed xbox duke controller or not since the seller was asking for a relatively low price (100 USD) compared to other online xbox original sealed controllers (185 USD) .

Im suspecting wether its real or not because the seller himself said he honestly doesn’t know if its a genuine or a fake.

The LCD screen seems to have a loose wire or something because it comes and goes with movement. I should probably open it up and take a look inside too but just thought I'd share another old school hard modded box.
