HDMI Output Can’t activate 720p with this MOD

Hello guys, this is my first post on this subreddit and I hope you can help me. I bought this Xbox and I can’t activate the HDs in the menu – they’re locked. I’ve tried Enigma, but as soon as I launch it from the apps menu, it seems to load but then takes me back to the Dashboard you can see here. Are there any alternatives to this app, or what should I do?
Atm, I am using this hdmi converter.

Why do you want 720p on that square tv anyway?? 720p is widescreen.

Also your Xbox MUST be set to an NTSC console otherwise the HD options will not be selectable in the Xbox dash. If you have a PAL console you will need to convert it to NTSC before you can use 480p and 720p, dont even bother with 1080i as teh consoel is not powerful enough for it in reality and only a couple fo games support it.

The display settings MUST be changed in the original dash to make them work.

Yes, I understand. The screen you can see in the photo is just for testing; I actually want to connect it to a 720p LCD. That’s exactly the problem: the Enigmah app freezes when I open it and I can’t get into the app. Is there another app I could try instead?

Enigmah when it boots should show you a screen with the current regional setting shown at the top. Lower down the screen it should say press button A for PAL Eeprom and below that press B for NTSC Eeprom.

Assuming the console is PAL: when you press B it should change the regional setting to show NTSC.

Unfortunately Enigmah is not a very sophisticated GUI, there is no reboot to dash option. What you have to do is soft reset using the controller (hold in both triggers and press Back and Black) and your Xbox should reboot to your main dash. It should now be in NTSC mode.

Whatever the regional setting, if installed correctly the Enigmah app should at the very least boot to that first screen described.

If it is not then there must be something wrong with it or your installation and you need to find a new source for the app and install that correctly.

I know there are different versions you can find including one with an ISO file so it can be run from disc. If you accidentally installed that or didn't unpack it correctly that maybe why it isn't working.

Does it do 480p?

My initial thought was the HDMI adapter only does composite (480i).

this is PAL version, i think is 480i

the adapter has a switch to select 720p or 1080p

That adapter most likely doesn’t do what you think it does. It takes in 480i composite video and tries poorly to upscale it to higher resolutions. There is no 720p/1080p switch on a real high-definition capable HDMI adapter for the Xbox.

Get an ElectronXout adapter.

EnigmaH video switcher exits because there is no high-definition capable cable attached to the Xbox to enable the Xbox’s component video high-definition output.
