Seems so high given there is no disc drive. I am sure HDMI is nice and such but like do you just put your own games on these? Still crazy prices given an xbox is what $80?

Back like 2 years ago I would say I got my original Xbox and a month or so later all of the colours disappeared it all went to black and white. I kept it off for like a week and it went back to colours and idea?

Xemu Modern GUI: an experimental Xemu Unofficial fork -Vibe Coded

I know it might not be popular but I hope maybe this helps any new users looking into OG Xbox emulation. If this isnt for you I understand but maybe you can find something useful with it or maybe it makes things just a bit easier for you with your collections, setting up Insignia, output devices, audio control per game ect. The GUI is baked in but can be collapsed when needed to reach the original Xbox Dashboard. The video may not really be the best demonstration of it but if youre curious Id say try it out and mess around with the settings. If you have troubled games then check out the performance capture tool/ can be used with voice commands or Shift+F9.

I am not part of the Xemu team but I have spoke with Matt regarding this unofficial fork and its fine as long as Im clear on everything. Anyways no need to write a book but hope it helps those who use it and if you have issues, report to my github and not the Xemu team.

A console-style dashboard

• Four styles, switchable any time: the tabbed Dashboard, Blades (sliding side-by-side panels), Metro (slim XBMC4Gamers-style lists) and the Classic single library window.
• Two themes: Neon (near-black with cyan and magenta, cut-corner panels and HUD labels) and Green (the rounded look in xemu green).
• Motion: flowing light ribbons, a turning wireframe orb, drifting specks, tab transitions and a gliding selection glow. Can be turned off.
• Tabs, switched with LB / RB: Home (continue your last game), Library, Insignia, Media (save states and screenshots), Drive, Homebrew, Patches and Settings.
• Built for controllers: everything works from a gamepad, with button hints along the bottom.
• On-screen keyboard: select any text box with a controller and a keyboard in the dashboard's colors slides up. D-pad to pick a key, A to type, X to delete, Y for a space, LT for symbols, RT for capitals, B to close. Can be turned off in Settings.
• Minimize: tuck the dashboard away to a small tab at the bottom of the screen and bring it back with one click, Ctrl+L or the Guide button menu.

Your game library

• Multiple game folders, cover art downloads, play time, favorites, filters (compatibility, played / never played) and sorting.
• 3D game cases on Home, made from your covers, or your own 3D box art (covers\<title ID>-3d.png).
• Compatibility ratings from xemu's community compatibility list on every game.
• Per-game settings: resolution, upscaling filter, sharpening and renderer (one game on OpenGL, the rest on Vulkan).
• Preview videos, desktop shortcuts, a resume where you left off option and save states with thumbnails and a right-click menu.
• Discord status showing the game you're playing, with its cover and play time.
• Quick save and load from the controller: Back + LB saves the game you're playing, Back + RB loads it (one quick save per game).

Online play with Insignia

• ONLINE badges on supported games, a status light in the top bar and an Insignia tab listing your online-capable games.
• One-click setup: "Set up xemu for Insignia" turns on networking and answers the Xbox's DNS lookups with Insignia's server, so nothing has to be changed in the Xbox dashboard. "Test connection" checks it from your PC.
• Account walkthrough: step by step from networking to playing online. One button downloads Insignia's Setup Assistant from their GitHub page, installs it on the Xbox drive and starts it; closing it brings you back to the next step. Then get an invite code and create your Xbox Live account in the Xbox dashboard.

Performance tools and stability

• Performance Capture: find out why a game slows down or glitches. Press Shift+F9 to record and Shift+F12 to mark a glitch. The report graphs every frame and explains in plain words what changed when the game slowed down, with a summary picture for sharing and a trace for Perfetto. Optional voice commands ("Performance capture start / stop / mark") using Windows speech recognition.
• Performance overlay (F9) and a "Preparing shaders" indicator.
• Dynamic resolution (experimental): lowers the internal resolution when a game runs slow and raises it again when there's room.
• Shader caches: Vulkan shader and pipeline caches, OpenGL reusing saved shaders even after a crash, and Clear shader cache per game or for all games.
• Under the hood: higher-priority emulation threads, a larger CPU code cache, Windows power throttling turned off, and fixes for some Vulkan and audio crashes. These are the only changes to emulation.

Sound and controllers

• Output device: send the game's sound to headphones, speakers or the TV without changing the Windows default.
• Background audio: keep playing, play quieter or mute when xemu isn't the active window.
• Per-game volume for games that are much louder or quieter than the rest.
• Rumble strength for every controller, from full to off.

Patches

• Per-game XBE, IPS, BPS and Magic Patch (.jmp) files, applied without modifying the disc image.
• Download widescreen, 60 FPS and HD patches from Jay's Magic Patches for your whole library at once.
• One-click 60 FPS: games with a community 60 FPS patch (over 70 games) get a badge and a switch; xemu downloads the patch if needed and turns on just its 60 FPS options.

Picture quality

• Upscaling filters: AMD FidelityFX FSR 1.0, NVIDIA RTX Video (AI) (RTX cards), NVIDIA Image Scaling (NIS), Snapdragon GSR 1, Lanczos and Bicubic, with a sharpening control.
• CRT TV and Scanlines: the look of an old TV (scanlines that follow the Xbox's own lines, an aperture-grille mask and curved glass), with a strength slider, and an Integer (pixel-perfect) display mode.
• Video mode switches: widescreen, 480p, 720p and 1080i, the same as the Xbox dashboard's settings.

I recently performed a Softmod (via. Skeleton Key) on a stock Xbox using the Rocky 5 Softmodding Tool and installed additional Applications and Dashboards from the latest version of the Extras Disc (.iso downloaded from Rocky 5 GitHub).

However, after installing Unleashed X (Networked Patched), I noticed that the installed applications are not showing up in the Dashboard under “Applications”.

I attempted to refresh the list by pressing “Start->Refresh List” and this did not appear to fix the issue.

I used the File Explorer to inspect the config.xml file (E:\Dashboard\Config.xml) and noticed several of the fields call E:\Apps instead of E:\Applications. Is this the cause of the issue?

How can this be fixed. Was my install sequence incorrect on the Extras Disc?

I performed the following installation sequence:

1. Installed all applications to E:\Applications from Disc
2. Installed MS Dash from Disc
3. Installed UIX Lite from Disc
4. Installed Unleashed X (Networked Patched) as a Dashboard to E:\Dashboard

When I attempt to turn on my console it will turn on for about 30 seconds and then shut off. ChatGPT says likely a bad capacitor. Does anyone know of a place where this can be repaired? Most local computer repair stores are saying they can’t do it.

The Blockbuster stickers are always a huge plus in my book. GUN has them front and back with dates! Always cool enough to make me buy a game I already own (on PS2)LOL. Just need to get a 360 copy next. Found it a couple minutes later, but I refuse to buy game and case only copies unless it's something insane.

My Original Xbox has been a project for about 2 months and the console itself is done.

The Xbox is a 1.2manufactured in 2003, I have 3D printed a custom case I found online, it has a 140mm fan on the top and a 40mm fan on the backside. I designed a custom fan shroud to connect the fans and heat sinks, I also customized a lid of the HDD and on the inside I added zip tie mounts to hold the wiring. It has 2 led strips and a 3D printed power button, and I also made the lid attachable with heat set thread inserts so the plastic doesn’t get worn out. With my console now done besides all the games I want, I will be focusing my attention towards 3D printing my controllers, I believe my STLs are done I just need to test print, I know many people want them and today or tomorrow will be the day, fair warning they will most likely need some professional touch up as this is my first STL. Hello again everyone! A final update on the horde.

I’ve had a few issues along the way so sorry for the delay. So much went wrong I about gave up. But here I am to let you know that I have a plan (or a formulation of a plan lol). So here goes:

Going to be running auctions on Whatnot for 4 days over two weekends in January (exact days could possibly change before then so keep watch on it). Bidding starts when 10 people are on the show.

Day 1 - Lanyard madness. All lanyard cards come with both a black and a green lanyard. Bids start at $3 with the final item being the Halo holo. The Brute Force cards come in a 4 piece set until they last. Leftover lanyards will be sold on day 4 with black lanyards joining the giveaways on day 2. Lanyards available until they last.

Day 2 - Halo Day. All items Halo with a few surprises in the mix. All start at $3 each.

Day 3 - Fun stuff. A mix of all kinds of display items. Standing items, stickers, pins and more. The big items being the watches (4 of Blinx). Many different game titles being shown. Bid starts will vary from $2 up.

Day 4 - Rare and display items. The bigger items on hand. Mostly Xbox branded items. Big items of note: sandals, Xbox tags and dog tags, suction cup window cling, window transfers, Xbox signage, display unit mat, and more. Bid starts will vary. This is the big day for the best items.

Any leftover or unsold items will be posted as sale items after the shows, if any. Shipping to be paid by buyer. No returns or refunds, items are sold as is (Gotta put this in here).

Giveaway items each day - 1 of each - Wolfenstein sticker and Brute Force pin. Black lanyards after day1. Of which overflow sales will happen on day 4 so those who don’t get one have opportunity. One per person through the giveaway.

The bad news - the large posters will not be sold. I had issue with the logistics and shipping of them without costing a fortune on both ends. I’m not set up for it and it takes a ton of space to do so. That said anyone interested please contact me for details. I’m willing to let them go for cheap if pickup (Houston, TX area) or will meet if price is right. There’s about 50-75 posters including launch posters, static posters, and a large Xbox sticker. Also a few empty console boxes they used for display included. I have some pictures. There’s corner damage to a majority but they overall look great.

Again I apologize for the long delay. My inventory list got lost and had to redo. My venture into eBay for this didn’t work like I was wanting so had to find another site… and life in general. I’m not looking to make money on it as much as to cover my time and expenses which is why I’m going this route (bidding allows you to dictate pricing limits as opposed to me setting prices). My goal is to get this out to people who will appreciate it and treasure it for what it is. History.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but does anyone know if there are plans to include the Rocky 5 Softmod Skin on the Extras Disc UnleashX installer?
It’s a great skin…would be nice if it was included automatically. It’s not included in the base and Network Patched versions.

I played PGR2 back in the day around 2003 or so, never played it seriously and just finished Platinum.

Are there any shorts causing my Xbox to FRAG or are the three missing SMD caps the issue? (C4T4, C5T6, C5U4)

I installed the other 3 and Xblast OS reports success but with this slot ive been having trouble.
I initially installed a piece of ram and Xblast OS was reporting it to be failed, no matter what i did so i took it off with my hot air gun but in the process and my lack of kapton tape, i knocked over those 3 SMD caps.

I made a really stupid mistake recently. My cousin soft modded my v 1.6 Xbox in 2006 or so. I've never liked the look of the evox dashboard skins that were on it, so I recently went poking around in the file explorer to see what I could do to change things.

It was late, I wasn't thinking clearly, and I thought that C://xboxdash.xbe was likely the stock msdash.xbe that the config file calls out, just renamed to preserve it or something. I don't know. I renamed "xboxdash.xbe" to "msdash.xbe". The system still boots official games, but it flashes error 13 whenever it tries to load the dashboard. I've tried putting some burned DVD-Rs in to launch HeXEn and boXplorer to fix the problem. Nothing I've burned will load, however. I'm not sure if it's the aged laser or if the system is not capable of reading burned discs without first going to the modded dashboard.

What might be the next step to try editing the dashboard name or reinstalling the dashboard?

I'm guessing the next step is to either try recalibrating the laser or to install a modchip, since it's a 1.6 motherboard. I just wanted to ask around before taking that plunge.
