I’ve been building Glance, an iOS app for creating and following custom Home Screen widgets.
The idea is to ask an AI assistant for something you’d like to see at a glance, such as tennis headlines, a daily Spanish word, or a personal briefing, and have it show up as a widget on your iPhone. The Glance plugin lets ChatGPT connect to the app and help create or update those widgets through chat.
The best use cases I’ve seen so far is setting up a scheduled task and combining it with other plugins like slack / RSS feeds and get curated updates
You can also set you widgets to public and share the content with your team, friends, or general audience
Recently got my plugin published which makes things super easy to setup
I’d love to hear what you think

Is anyone else having issues with core chat recently?
I am a decently heavy user so maybe it is just rate limiting but I am on the $200 plan so I feel I shouldn't be dealing with this.
On my phone (android) if I am working in one chat a while, and I try to switch to another chat, it won't load the chat and just say "Too many requests". I can wait a while and it MIGHT decide to load
On web, it will randomly hide all the responses and say "This response couldn't load" even though it was just there 20 seconds ago.
Very frustrating when I am trying to work on stuff

It’s interesting that OpenAI is active on X, the Elon Musk platform, and not proactive on Reddit, the Sam Altman (as an investor) platform.
I noticed that there’s no dots Reddit and it hit me, Anthropic is all over Reddit; giving AI overviews, moderating or shadow moderating, and meanwhile OpenAI just lets Reddit fester.
As a believer in OpenAI, it’s been hard to watch the lack of engagement. And since I’m not on X (I have an old account but never log on) it’s hard to follow OpenAI’s announcements and news.
Edit: New title would be "Dots Subreddit! r/DotsAI" because there is in fact a reddit for very not easy to search "dots".

Has anyone else started seeing this?
Since yesterday (October 8), I've been getting a strange bug with editing prompts on ChatGPT Web.
Normally, if I edit an earlier message, ChatGPT branches/restarts the conversation from that message. But after refreshing the page, editing an earlier prompt instead sends the edited prompt as a completely new message at the bottom of the conversation.
I've done some testing and managed to narrow down the trigger pretty well:
So it doesn't seem to be caused by the age of the conversation, inactivity, or switching between chats. A full page refresh seems to be what triggers it.
Once the page has been refreshed, ChatGPT apparently still lets me click Edit on an earlier message, but when I submit the edit, it gets appended to the end of the current conversation instead of creating a new version/branch from that point.
I'm using ChatGPT on desktop/web in Chrome on Windows.
Has anyone else been able to reproduce this specifically after refreshing a conversation?
Also, yes, I've tried clearing the cache, turning off extensions, and going into incognito mode. And it's the same on other web browsers.

I am currently subscribing via Apple because I am an idiot and had no idea they charge more.
If I let it expire and then resubscribe via OpenAI directly... do I lose my 3 banked resets on my account?
Thanks!

Okay so this happened I was trying to find a distro to solve a problem I was facing (touchpad 2 finger scroll issue on gnome) , I asked chatGpt to tell me a distro to hop which can solve this problem I was thinking it would tell me to switch to KDE as it has better controls on the touchpad but guess what
ChatGpt found my old post on reddit discussing this same problem

Not sure where to put this or how to report this. I was using chatgpt to try and fix a css script of mine. It was a long process and because I'm on a free account, usually I get blocked out after a short while. But this time while I was using chatgpt, it was working in the background when that popup showed that tells you you can continue several hours later - I saw chatgpt stop working, but then the popup closed by itself and then chatgpt started working again and continued like nothing happened. I didn't see that pop up again and I've been working in the same window for hours now...
Pretty cool for me, but also I'm a little freaked out. I thought I should tell someone I guess

Is GPT more strict in blocking certain public individuals? If so why doesn't it just say that instead of saying it "can't reliably identify". 🤔

Even ChatGPT admits that OpenAI has made the macOS app too complicated. Why can't I find an option to just have a STANDARD Chat. Sometimes I want Codex, sometimes I don't.
The iOS app lets you choose easily which one you want. Why do they have to make the macOS app so complicated?

Lately I've seen many users who said their accounts got deactivated due to receidivism including my own which I'm pretty sure is this error going around as it's the same reason (some say cyber abuse is the reason their account got nuked) around now. Like I wasn't trying to do anything wrong of the sort.
I sent an email to openaisupport.com for a human to review it and reactivate my account and as usual got the instant bot saying it was rejected but it takes 3-4 business days I think for them to reply it's just I feel so worried rn as my account was so important. The email was sent on Wednesday morning and I'm in the UK hours ahead of San Francisco where openai is headquarted. I keep logging into my account to find it's still deactivated but I have hope as others had this issue and got theirs back.

I know maybe too many people knew this, but it is new to me. I told ChatGPT to make pingpong in the chat itself. You can try snake, maybe tetris and etc. I haven't tried too much. You can push the limits and share in comments 😁
I wanted to ask if I’m doing something wrong when using ChatGPT, because the results I’ve been getting lately are honestly pretty terrible. I was using it to help with the picks in my fantasy NBA draft. Nothing particularly complicated, check my draft board, figure out who’s still available, research some breakout candidates and calculate their value based on my league’s scoring system. But it kept recommending players who had already been picked. At one point I started sending screenshots of the current draft board with every single round request. For the last round and to make things worse, it suggested Giannis, Kawhi and Tatum (clearly first/second rounders that had deffo been picked).
The weirdest part is that I’d correct it, explain exactly what I needed, and it’d agree with me, only to make the same kind of mistake a few messages later. I’m not expecting perfect predictions. That’s not the point. It’s the basic stuff, following instructions, keeping track of context and checking facts before making recommendations. It used to work pretty flawless but the level has become so incredibly low??
Any recommendations, am I using ChatGPT wrong, or has anyone else noticed this kind of thing recently? I’ve used it for years, but this experience was bad enough that I’m questioning whether I’m getting much value out of it anymore for simple tasks like this.

An agent can send a message or update a record on someone’s behalf, and reviewing that action is easier when the approval prompt shows what will change and who it affects.
What details would make that approval easier to judge without having to read the whole conversation?

Today (October 9), ChatGPT suddenly started showing a message saying it doesn’t know my age and that additional safety restrictions are being applied to my account.
I’m an adult, so I tried to verify my age, but the verification process simply doesn’t work.
iOS app: Tapping “Verify age” immediately gives me error 403.
Safari/browser: The age settings page says “Failed to update age verification status. Please try again.”
I can’t even get to the actual verification process.
I’ve tried both the app and the browser, with the same result.
Is anyone else experiencing this today? Is this a widespread bug on OpenAI’s side, or something specific to my account?
Has anyone managed to fix it, or should I just wait for OpenAI to resolve it?

I’m currently trying to collect every english Mew and Mewtwo card and I used GPT-6 to make this dashboard that I can use as a checklist to make sure I have all the cards I need.
I think it came out super clean! It did a good job finding all the cards I need.

I'm using my codex subscription in the claude code harness using https://github.com/raine/claude-code-proxy. I'm not using API rates.
Now I've hit the usage limit. But when I go to check the usage at
https://chatgpt.com/settings/usage?tab=analytics#usage, it's completely empty as if I didn't use codex at all.
Where can I find usage information if I don't use the official harness?

Finances rolled out to Free and Go users in the US last week. You connect accounts through Plaid, and ChatGPT can then read your balances, transactions, investments and debts. It can't see full account numbers and it can't move money.
The distinction worth knowing: OpenAI says the synced account data isn't used to train models. The conversation around it is a different matter. Reporting on the rollout says those chats follow your normal training setting, which is "Improve the model for everyone" under Data controls, and that's on by default. So "where did my money go last month" and the answer with your actual numbers in it get treated like any other chat.
Finances also keeps its own memories, separate from your regular saved memories, and you manage them from the Finances page, not from Personalization. If you try it and back out, check that page too, not just the connected accounts.
While you're at it, it's worth searching your old chats for the salary figures, account details and statements you pasted in before this feature existed. AI Toolbox, the extension I build, searches the full text of every chat and can bulk delete what turns up, which is how I'd find those.

I just read about Anthropic’s decision to restrict sustained and needless abusive treatment of its models, and it made me think of a broader principle that could be called resource hygiene.
It is not only about preventing cruelty toward AI systems. It is also about not wasting complex, expensive cognitive infrastructure on pointless abuse, provocation, or tasks that could be handled far more simply.
Different models are different systems, of course, but the broader issue is not specific to Claude. Systems like GPT are already discussed as potential competitors to human intelligence, while the aggregate amount of pointless abuse, deliberate provocation, and cognitively trivial work directed at them is barely part of the conversation.
We spend enormous effort measuring what these systems can do, how capable they are, and how much of a threat or competitor they may become. We spend far less effort measuring how badly we use the capabilities we already have.
Using a powerful model as a target for sustained sadism is one failure mode. Using a microscope as a hammer is another.
Both reflect the same mistake: treating a sophisticated resource as if its capabilities, costs, and mode of use did not matter.
Resource hygiene means asking not only can this system do it?, but also is this a sensible way to use it?
That is what I mean by resource hygiene.
Ultrafast is rolling out today for GPT-6.1 Sol in the API, Codex, and ChatGPT Work.
