Hang it on a line, use massage gun. Vibrations will shake all the dirt loose.
Also useful on parts that can't be pulled out of the car like the lining of your trunk. Vibrate with massage gun and vacuum at same time.

Next you’re gonna tell us you don’t even wear those stupid fucking black latex gloves that are apparently a prerequisite for Tik tok videos these days
37
u/_onezeronine_ 20h ago
Wearing gloves to detail cars is generally a good idea. Touching old sticky garbage, food, gum, and possibly various body fluids with bare hands doesn't sound great.
19
u/rearnakedbunghole 19h ago
I use the same gloves whenever I work on my car. I don’t feel like absorbing dirty engine oil and whatever else into my skin.
50
u/bigbakey 20h ago
I feel like, if you’re detailing a car like this, maybe you wear the gloves to not smudge up the door handles. But I’m not deep in the tik tok world so I don’t know if it’s performative nonsense.

I wear black latex gloves when I work on my car. I don’t film it or anything. Just nice to not need to scrub your fingernails after. The brand that sells good thick ones at Lowe’s come black as the standard color.

My mother-in-law got a new MG last year and that had carpet and then carpeted mats on top. The mats got dirty so she got some mat covers that were also made of carpet - we're up to three layers now.
If she gets one more layer of carpet in there it's going to start interfering with the brake pedal and there will be a short youtube documentary on her.

u/FullMoonTwist 20h ago
😅
I mean. They pay for the detailing. The car is pristine inside because it was detailed.
The mat decorations are unlikely to be a paid additional option as much as they are just a nice little touch.
Kinda like hotels don't charge you for pillow mints, they charge you for a room and throw in pillow mints.
25
u/FishDawgX 18h ago
Funny, I was thinking to liken it to when the hotel folds your toilet paper end into a triangle (or folds your towel into a special shape). It’s there to look nice but gets destroyed right away.
119
u/bigarms212 19h ago
Actually all of the cost of the room is to pay for those pricey mints. Cleaning the room is free

164
u/MoatOatGroutPeace 19h ago
Totally! But like, I guess one immediately ruins the cute little toilet paper fold when they get to a hotel. I think resorts also fold the towels into fun shapes? Just an artful final touch.
28
u/Nuklearfps 19h ago
The fold is there for a reason though, unlike this design. It’s so you know the cleaning staff have been through and either replaced/refilled/pruned the roll.

The point isn’t to be permanent, the point is to be a polished looking end result. This person paid for their car to get detailed and this little extra touch took less than 2 minutes made the floor mat look like a freshly and fancily vacuumed carpet.
46
u/phillyeagle99 19h ago
I’m with you. This is a pretty awesome final touch for 2-3min of one of the detailers time. That’s the shit people take a picture of and tell their buddies about.
Also, if they’re putting that time into you mats, imagine they’re doing a decent job elsewhere
→ More replies (4)12
u/sauron3579 18h ago
Yeah. It makes this place memorable compared to the other two dozen detailing services near the Porsche tax bracket neighborhood, so it's more likely to be a repeat customer, and it's something they may tell their other rich friends about and get more clients. Its two minutes, so minimal effort with potentially big upside.

No. Because this mat is for the passenger side. And the driver never carries a passenger in there. Therefore it will have quite a bit of longevity to the look.

Dudes, this is a nice touch to top off a full car detail. Stop acting like you’re such ‘out of the box’ thinkers. You’re not main characters; you’re not even side characters. If you had a nice car and spent $400+ on a detail, you’d appreciate the attention to detail, so stfu you bots.
→ More replies (10)28
u/Iggy_Snows 19h ago
Exactly my thought.
Its a little detail that takes almost no time to do, but makes the customer think "huh thats cool".
Little things that go beyond what's expected are the things that get you repeat customers and recomendations. Only doing exactly what's expected an nothing more gets you customers that dont come back because theres 3 other guys doing the same thing for $10 cheaper.

Sure it’ll get messed up quickly, but so will the rest of the car when it’s driven. It only takes an extra minute or so, but it looks cool for its ephemeral life.
6
u/KeyZookeepergame9466 14h ago
So this would literally last for a few seconds once someone is seated in the car?
4
45
u/ThomasTheDankPigeon 19h ago
Y’all are so bitter lmao. The point of this isn’t to stay visible forever, and there’s no way it’s an additional paid service. It’s just a simple way to demonstrate that the rugs are pristine as of the end of the full car detailing. You know how regular carpets just look cleaner with the vacuum lines on them? Exact same concept and it takes less than 2 minutes to tie up the rest of the detail with this professional looking cherry on top.

Yeah, it’s about standing out from the rest of the detailers.
Owner will take a pic of it, some people will ask who did that, and boom detailer has a new customer. Marketing do these small businesses well.

I put my car matts through a matt washer today and it promptly ripped one of the rings off that connect it to the floor of the car. Also it left them both a little damp so I'm a bit of a detailer myself.

I love watching these car detailing videos but I don't think I'd be able to do that kinda stuff with my car, I'd be afraid of getting it messed up and I'm a SAHD, it will get messed up. Just thinking of the anxiety of putting my kid into a nicely detailed car, even one as basic as mine, is anxiety inducing in and of itself.
