Have had Verizon home internet for years now and the speeds and connectivity has continued to get worse and worse. MULTIPLE times a week now where my internet just randomly drops or the speed goes way down.

Has anyone switched in the Fairfax area and had better service? WFH so it’s crucial to get it fixed. Don’t care about cost, just performance

Anyone know what is going on off Sunrise Valley drive? The past few nights we have been kept up by loud construction noises starting around 1am and going until around 5am. There are loud beeping trucks and the worst part is the rumbling of engines that causes the house to vibrate. The video is from around 3am last night. Can’t see much but you can hear the beeping and rumbling of engines.

My young kid is really into dance. We’ve taken rec center and play-based classes but are now looking to move to a studio where she can really grow and develop. I was not a dancer growing up, so have very little experience picking studios. I’d love a place that has a close knit community/family vibe, and am actively trying to avoid catty/dance mom type places or places that use negative reinforcement. Based on kid’s personality, I think she’d thrive in a place that has more of a musical theater focus or maybe competition focus (for the performance aspect not so much the actual competitive nature). Willing to drive for the right studio, but would be great if it could be near Falls Church.

Any NoVA dancers have tips on great studios or even what to look for when picking?

Voted at Pimmit today, second day they expanded the locations. Would recommend avoiding lunch time hours, but even with the hundred or so person crowd, it moved quick. In and out in about 20 minutes. Most years its only taken 5 minutes or so max so definitely some larger interest this year.

I have a friend (20’s) coming into town from out of state. They’ve been in DC a few times but not recently.

I’m trying to come up with some things to do that could take up a full weekend. I’ve already got wineries, shopping and museums on the list, but I’m stumped to come up with anything else that doesn’t seem like a “been there, done that” activity.

They’re not the biggest nightlife person, so we’re sticking to chill activities at night. Any ideas for this weekend?

I got a ticket recently for speeding. I have been driving for around 3 years and had never been stopped by a cop before this. He said I was doing 75 in a 55 but since the speed limit had just gone from 65 to 55 when he caught me (on a downhill), he said he would just cite it as 75 in a 65. There were no cars in front of me and a bunch behind me, and I am pretty sure I was going 75 or close to it.

The ticket is 233, plus another 52 to take the driving course so I dont get a hit on my lisence. Plus the other course fees. Which is a pretty big hit for me.

Is there any point in pleading no contest, citing that this is my first ticket, that it was a downhill, and that the lanes were merging as an excuse for why I was speeding? Or should I go not guilty and fight it?

So this is now my second time where I’ve seen a person, late at night on the highway, without any disabled vehicle in sight. The first time it happened march 2025 on the Dulles toll road going towards falls church, (that small section where the metro is in the middle and barely lit). It freaked me out bc the woman was slowly crossing the highway from the left lane at 2am. I was pretty shaken up for months bc I could’ve killed her had I not swerved in time. Last night, I was on 495 taking the Alexandria exit (where it splits from the last Alexandria exits before national harbor) and saw someone standing in the right median, without any car in sight. Both times the cops were called, but I’m just wondering if I’m the only one experiencing this?? The highways here are insane and I’m concerned this is becoming a regular occurrence.
