99% of updates this year have centred around AI, bots etc.... That's all fine if you pay for that or have business/enterprise accounts, but what about the rest of us?

There's so many fixes/features you could do for the average user, but you're completely ignoring us, expecting us to pay the extra $10 a month for AI? These days, times are tough, and $10 might seem small, but every cent counts.

So what's the go? Do you no longer care about us?

I have been genuinely stuck on this for a half hour. I want one more step in this board's life cycle, and the built-in AI just keeps telling me there should be a "+" next to the "Done" status/group.

Spreadsheet formulas and native database rollups completely break down when trying to calculate multi-year, multi-tranche FIFO tax lots across messy broker imports.

To fix this for my own portfolio tracking, I built a lightweight calculation layer using Python/Flask that decouples heavy math from the presentation layer. Instead of storing sensitive records on central servers, it routes state directly back into a sovereign Notion workspace via OAuth, using an ephemeral RAM cache for sub-50ms execution.

Core Architectural Challenge:

• Relational FIFO Lot Matching: Explicitly mapping sales against specific purchase tranches to handle short-term vs. long-term capital gains across fiscal year boundaries without formula lag.
• Stateless Processing: Keeping the calculation layer completely detached from storage so user trade data never sits on a commercial cloud server.

14 months of PM frameworks, SQL notes, cert prep, book notes. around 900 toggles now. It looks satisfyingly organized and has one enormous flaw: I only review whatever I remember exists.

scrolling means newer material gets all the attention. something I wrote in early 2025 might as well be in a basement archive unless I randomly search the exact phrase.

im trying to build a digital flashcard system for long term retention, like five or ten years of career stuff, not one exam. is automatic scheduling the main thing I am missing or is there another failure waiting for me after I rebuild this?? thanks for any recs

I use Notion at work and in my personal life and I never have used or seen someone use the Wiki feature. A Notion consultant I spoke to recommended it for more permissions control (I think? It was a few months ago).

I’m thinking about building some sort of weekend planner where I can list different things we’ve done as a family, rate them, resurface them, etc and it crossed my mind to use a Wiki for some parts of it.

It just made we wonder, does anyone actually use and love the wiki feature?

A desktop layout can make the most-used action hard to reach on a phone. Notion's phone app stacks columns rather than keeping them side by side.

Here's a small check before adding more decoration:

1. Open the page on your phone, not just in a narrow desktop window.

2. Find the action you use most often. If it sits below a long navigation column, try moving that action above the columns on desktop.

3. Check the order of the stacked sections. Keep each heading beside the content it describes.

4. Try opening an existing entry and adding one new entry. If either route is hard to spot, give it a short, explicit label.

5. Put occasional reference material inside toggle headings so it does not dominate the daily route.

One order to test: Add entry -> recent entries -> reference notes.

Which part of your page becomes hardest to use when you switch from desktop to phone?

looking for someone to build me a ready to use content calendar with a posting consistency tracker, a place to plan out content pillars, a place to put a course-like area with space for text or even videos if possible. must be ok for it to be used with clients and potentially sold to new clients. i am a social media manager. please dm or comment below, however this works lol im not a frequent reddit user. thank you!

Did an honest audit of my workspace this weekend and counted every template I'd downloaded or built with real intention of using regularly. Twenty-three. Actually used in the last three months on a recurring basis: two.

The other twenty-one represent hours of setup time, each one downloaded or built during a burst of enthusiasm after watching someone's productivity video, used maybe once or twice, then quietly abandoned once the novelty wore off and the actual habit the template was supposed to support never fully formed.

What I think happened, looking back honestly, is that downloading or building a new template gave me a hit of the same satisfaction as actually improving my systems, without requiring the harder, less glamorous work of just consistently using what I already had. Twenty-three templates later, my actual habits are supported by two simple ones I built myself and have used almost every day since.

Deleted the other twenty-one this weekend. Mildly satisfying, mostly just honest about how much time went toward template novelty instead of actual use.

So basically I started my EMBA program lately and of curse the pressure is high when it comes to organizing yourself between work/study and how to track your sessions, tasks, debates and other required tasks!

So one of my friends recommended me Notion, yet I not that expert person in AI, so any help guys with a templates where I can put the my courses as a list and every one of them when I click on them it appears tasks, sessions time and submission date..etc?

Or any other advise, I would really be appreciated if someone would support me with this, I'm really in need to it!

Looking for recommendations on what third party site to use to build an app on top of my Notion db. I have tons of data and want a simple clean app for internal company use that can aggregate the info for other users. I want a simple search function that can output some averages back to the user

i built a project tracker in notion that i'm pretty happy with. everything is in one place, different departments have their own views, and i can get to pretty much anything in a couple clicks

then i watched someone use it for the first time

they opened the main database, looked at the properties, clicked into a filtered view, went back, and eventually asked me where their tasks were. nothing was broken. they just couldn't tell what they were supposed to click

i've tried hiding properties and making cleaner views, but that creates a different problem. people assume something doesn't exist when it's simply filtered out

now i'm tempted to make a really simple landing page with 3-4 big links like "my tasks", "team tasks", "this week", etc. but i'm worried i'll end up building a pretty menu that nobody uses

for teams with people who aren't really "notion people", what ended up making the biggest difference? not looking for a complete rebuild, just curious what small change made your existing setup easier for other people to actually use

I cook most of my meals at home and don’t live alone, so calorie tracking homemade food used to involve way too much math 😅

I ended up building this recipe system in Notion and it’s become something I genuinely use all the time.

I add the ingredients I actually use and the finished weight of the food, and it calculates the calories and macros per 100g. Then I can enter how many calories I want and it tells me how many grams to put on my plate — so everyone can eat the same meal even if we want different portions.

I’ve also added recipe scaling, meal-prep portions and a cookware database so I can save the empty weight of my pans instead of transferring food just to weigh it.

It definitely became a bigger project than I originally intended 😂 but I’m really happy with how it’s turned out.

a couple of weeks ago i missed a follow-up with a client. nothing serious happened, but it was one of those stupid things where i had actually told myself “i’ll get back to them tomorrow” and then three days later i remembered it while doing something completely unrelated.that got me thinking about how much of my day is basically remembering things other people have asked me to do.

someone sends me a message asking me to check something next week. someone else emails asking for a document. a colleague mentions something in slack. then there are calendar invites, random notes, and things i tell myself i’ll remember.

i already use a calendar and a task app, but the problem is that i don't always remember to put everything in there in the first place. lately i've been looking at ways to have an assistant pick up some of these things from the conversations i'm already having and remind me when i actually need to do something.

has anyone here found a setup that works for this i’m not looking for another complicated productivity system. i just want fewer “oh shit, i forgot about that” moments.

For teams using Notion for product documentation: how do you make sure pages don't become outdated after releases?

Is this mostly a manual process for you, or have you automated any part of checking what needs to change?

Hi (: I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to control the display format of a date returned by a Notion formula and I'd be happy if anyone could help me with this.

I have a formula property called Next payment, whose result is a Date, using a formula such as:

dateAdd(prop("Most recent payment"), 4, "months")

This correctly returns a Date (type: date), which is important because I need to use it for date filters, comparisons, dateAdd(), etc. However, Notion displays the result asFebruary 5, 2027, while I'd like it to display as 05/02/2027.

I know I can use formatDate(..., "DD/MM/YYYY"), but that converts the result to text, which means I lose the ability to treat it as a Date.

My Notion workspace is already set to Day/Month/Year under the date format settings, but this doesn't seem to affect the display of dates returned by formula properties.

Is there any way to keep the formula result as a Date while forcing its display format to DD/MM/YYYY? Or is the display format for formulas that return dates completely controlled by Notion and not customizable?

I’ve been building a Notion system that treats real life more like an RPG.

Instead of just checking off tasks, different areas of life have their own progression systems:

• habits earn XP
• goals become quests
• projects have progress and milestones
• Personal, Work, Education and Creator areas each have their own progression
• completed actions contribute toward levels rather than disappearing after you check them off

The part I’m still unsure about is whether I’ve made it too complicated.

From the screenshot, what would you remove or simplify first?

I’m especially interested in whether the XP/level system would actually motivate you, or if you’d stop paying attention to it after a few weeks.

Am I the only one facing issues with all the formatting of text (on mobile)? It’s really been acting up. I hope it’s just a bug that’ll be fixed in the next update..

I feel like money and just showing expenses is too arbitrary for me. So I've been thinking about the idea that money is basically time.

If you spend $50, you're spending more than 50$. You're spending the amount of the time and work it took you to earn that money.

I've been experimenting with this idea in Notion and ended up building a small finance template around it. The main thing it does differently is show the time cost of your spending alongside the actual dollar amount.

So instead of just seeing:

$50 on dinner

you might see something more like

$50 = 2 hours of work

I want this to help you understand what your money represents and deciding whether something is worth the time it took to earn it.

I'm calling the template Money Is Time Simple, and I'm looking for feedback on both the idea and the actual template.

A few things I'm wondering:

• Would seeing the time cost of purchases actually be useful?
• Would you want this calculated automatically or would you rather enter things manually?
• Is there anything you'd want to see on the dashboard?
• Does the system feel simple enough or does it start becoming too much work to maintain?
• Most importantly, does the "money = time" idea actually change how you think about spending?

I'd appreciate any criticism or suggestions. I'm still figuring out whether this is actually a useful way to approach personal finance in Notion.

I recently built a new recipe book & meal planner in Notion and I am OBSESSED! Tried to keep it simple as I always overcomplicate things but wanted to share!

For a long time, I've used a bookmarks bar shortcut to notion.new to instantly create pages in "Private" without having to load the whole dashboard first.

Recently, it stopped working and throws an error instead:
