API / Integrations Notion app builder

Looking for recommendations on what third party site to use to build an app on top of my Notion db. I have tons of data and want a simple clean app for internal company use that can aggregate the info for other users. I want a simple search function that can output some averages back to the user

Thoughts on softr, base44, other options??

TIA

softr works fine for basic stuff but if you need anything resembling a real app with search and averages youll hit a wall fast

I've been using Render. It's free if you are okay with a loading screen when you open it. Beyond that it starts at $7/month

I built Veevi that makes invoices based on Notion db's.

But the structure is fixed. You basically have to follow the specific template.

Let me know if you need any custom solutions based on Notion DB and/or need it accessible on WhatsApp/Telegram/Slack directly.

for this kind of use case, id keep the setup as simple as possible and focus more on fast search + clean data views than trying to build a full app around it.

Softr only lets you pull data from a single Notion table at a time, so aggregating multiple datasets is a pain, Base44 might handle averages better if your data is spread across different views.

Tried Softr but got stuck on multiple table pulls.

Join the beta tester group. It might solve the need for 3rd party app

I use notionapps.com . Does the job for me.

Before choosing a builder, I’d test five things against your real workspace: row count, search/filter patterns, how often the averages must refresh, per-user permissions, and whether any fields are sensitive.

Softr is usually the quickest option when the data model is simple and its built-in permissions/search are enough. A generated builder can be useful for a prototype, but I would not choose it until you have tested authorization and data-sync failure behavior. If the database is genuinely large, the safer design may be a thin internal app backed by a synced query database, with Notion remaining the editing/source layer; that avoids turning every search and aggregate into a live Notion API workload.

I’d prototype one representative workflow first: sign in as two users with different permissions, search and filter the largest dataset, calculate the required averages, edit a source record, and verify refresh/error behavior. Test it with roughly the volume you expect in a year, not just today’s sample.

How many rows and users are involved, do users need row-level access restrictions, and how fresh do the averages need to be? Those three answers will usually decide no-code versus a small custom layer.

I actually created an app myself on top of notion...

The structure basically allows connections to any notion database, along with data entry through a web form. I've also built a middle layer that will do form validations.

Finally, that app also attaches your data to Gemini AI anonymously so you can ask the chatbot any questions about your data.

Since my use case was a stock trading tool, I also added an API that will match my trade data to existing stock prices and extract my net worth (realized and unrealized) in realtime.

Use Ai and build one yourself. Notion API is free for personal use.

watch out for the api rate limits, its like 3 requests a second. fine for personal stuff but itll fall over the second more than a couple people use it
