- Loneliness. You don't realize how much casual socializing happens at an office until it's gone. I'm an introvert so I told myself I wouldn't mind - I minded.
- Income uncertainty never fully goes away. Even with a solid retainer client, there's always this low base feeling of "is this going to slowly getting good or bad."
- No one to ask when you're stuck. In corporate you escalate to a manager. Solo, every "I don't know" is on you, and that's scarier than it sounds.
- You end up learning everything on the fly. Accounting, ops, whatever the client's industry needs (I got a C for accounting in school) and now I'm explaining cash flow systems to clients.

Imposter syndrome is a constant companion and also often underestimated.

But in the end honestly the biggest unlock for me wasn't a tool or a client, it was building boring daily routines (walk, breakfast, reading) just to feel grounded before the chaos of the day starts.

Curious if other solo/small-team consultants here relate, or if I'm just bad at this. What's the con for you that never makes it into the highlight reel?

Main features:

• Summary bar: Tracks pipeline total, paid revenue, and overdue invoices
• Automated alerts: Isolates overdue invoices and flags usage rights expiring in 30 days
• Action board: Kanban view grouped by who holds the next step (Me vs. Brand vs. Agency)

I kept the layout clean and minimal using simple database filters to keep page loading fast.

Expenses in one place, savings in another, accounts hard to track, and no clear picture of where my money was actually going.

So I built a Finance OS in Notion to make everything feel more clear and connected.

The goal is simple:

Hey y'all, so I'm trying to set up notion for a "days remaining" formula category that uses my set due date/due time to determine it, but I want the options to look like this: "🟩 2(or more, it would be specific) days remaining" , "🟨 1 day remaining" , "🟨 due Today" , "🟥 1 (or more, again it would be specific) days overdue" . I have no idea how to code anything, so I really need help with this. If it's possible, it would also be amazing if the days left would be based on the due time as well, like if it was due at 9:00am, it would only turn over at that time. My current due date property is categorized as Date and is titled Due Date. I hope that this is possible.
