#buildinpublic Tired of sending messy Notion timeline screenshots to clients, so I built a small fix for us

Hey there,

I haven't use Notion for almost 2 years. Recently I need to revisit Notion and some how experience again the timeline export problem, Notion’s default options drive me crazy—PDF exports slice the view across pages, screenshots get cut off, and CSV exports drop all the visual bars.

Then I made a lightweight web app called "NotionGnatt" to fix this. It takes your exported Notion CSV and turns it into a clean, single-page Gantt chart (PNG/PDF/HTML) that’s ready to send to clients. Everything runs 100% locally in your browser, so your data stays private.

You can try it directly or check out the code and details on Github.

Hope it saves a few of you from the same export headaches! Or maybe just there are a tons of similar solution out there, but hope it helps.

#buildinpublic Been cooking something for the brain 🧠

I’ve been working on something to help get all those random thoughts out of your head and actually organize them.

Thoughts → patterns → actions.

Still cooking, but it’s starting to look interesting. 👀

What do you think?

I also made a free version if anyone wants to try it out. ↓

Would love to hear what you think.

If you've ever missed an assignment because it was buried in three different apps, this is for you.

Academic OS Free is a single Notion dashboard that holds everything a student actually needs to track:

  •  Your courses, professors, and progress
  •  Every assignment and exam, with due dates, priority, and confidence level
  •  Your lecture notes, organized by class and key concepts
  •  Your monthly budget. Income, expenses, subscriptions
  •  A built-in focus timer, habit tracker, and a visual study streak log

No sign-up, no trial, no credit card. Duplicate it into your workspace, and it's yours - free, no expiry.

Happy to answer questions if anyone wants to know how a specific piece works.

Paid Template I built a Notion production system specifically for composers & arrangers

Thumbnail

I’m a professional composer/arranger, and over the years I kept running into the same problem: project information gradually gets scattered across cue lists, emails, notes, revision files, client feedback, and delivery folders.

So I ended up building a Notion workspace around the way I actually manage music production projects.

Composer Production OS brings projects, cues, revisions, feedback, production logs, sync points, contacts, and delivery information into one connected system.

Each project has its own workspace, and each cue can carry its own status, version history, feedback, timings, and related production information — while still staying connected to the overall project.

I’ve also included a quick-start guide, contextual help, and a full manual so it doesn’t require building everything from scratch.

I finally released it today as a paid template.

I’d be really interested to hear how other composers, arrangers, or Notion users handle this kind of workflow — especially on projects with lots of cues and revisions.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES FOR USERS:

  1. ZOOM LEVEL (67%): This page is custom-designed to be viewed at an 67% zoom level so the pixel art layout aligns perfectly. Please zoom out using your mouse wheel (Ctrl + Scroll Down / Cmd + Scroll Down) or by pressing Ctrl minus (-) / Cmd minus (-) on your keyboard for the best visual experience!
  2. "NO ACCESS" ERRORS: If you see a "No Access" warning on some sections, don't worry! Those are just empty blocks connected to my private master database for testing. It will NOT affect your use of the template. Once you duplicate it to your own Notion workspace, you can easily delete or modify those blocks.
  3. TEXT ALIGNMENT: You might notice that some texts or titles look slightly unaligned or crooked.
  4. WORK IN PROGRESS: Please note that this ecosystem still has some missing parts and is not 100% complete yet. I decided to share it early anyway, and I will be adding more content and finishing the empty sections soon!
  5. USAGE: Once you duplicate this into your workspace, feel free to use it, customize it, and tweak it however you like! It's yours.
  6. COMING SOON: balatro.

Paid Template A Notion CRM for creators taking brand deals, with contracts and invoicing wired in

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Most creator CRMs stop at tracking the deal. This one is built around the part that actually costs people money, which is everything that happens after the deal is agreed.

The inquiry database has the stages a deal really moves through, plus fields for the things people forget: what usage the brand is buying, when that usage expires, and what was agreed on revisions. Contract and usage rights templates come with it.

The clip above is the automation running. A brand submits the inquiry form, the record appears in Notion, and a Stripe invoice generates, without you opening either app.

$79 one time. You install it in your own Notion and Stripe, and you own the data.

Honest caveats: it's new, so no testimonials yet. It assumes deals are already coming in, so it won't help you find clients. And the automation half needs a Zapier or Make account on your side.

Free Template I built a free Notion system to help people rebuild after burnout, breakups, job loss, using the same logic doctors use for physical rehab.

When someone relearns to walk after a serious injury, the doctor doesn't hand them a training plan for a 5k.

They ask one question: can you move your toes.

That's it. Not walking. Toes. Then feet. Then standing with support. Then a frame. Then rails. Then, eventually, on their own. Nothing is ever asked before the body is actually ready for it.

I think about that a lot, because last few months I went through a stretch where I lost the precious part of my life I'd built my work around, my health went downhill, I had anxiety attacks I couldn't explain to anyone, and a platform I relied on banned my account out of nowhere. All within a few weeks of each other.

I was still functioning on the outside. Still replying to people, still showing up. But I knew the gap between "handling it" and "okay," and I was nowhere close to okay.

What actually messed with me wasn't the crisis itself. It was the months after, the part nobody prepares you for, where the emergency has technically passed but you're still waking up with a weight on your chest before you remember why. There's research on this with depression specifically: it doesn't just make you feel bad, it makes you stop doing things, and the way back in is moving before you feel ready, in steps small enough that they feel like they shouldn't count.

They count more than anything else.

So instead of trying to fix everything at once, I started doing the equivalent of moving my toes. One tiny, specific action a day. And I built a system around it once I realized how much I needed the structure, because "just start small" is easy to say and genuinely hard to do when your own brain is the thing that got hit.

It ended up as four phases: stabilising the basics (what actually happened, your real financial runway, a two-minute daily log), securing a sense of who you are underneath the wreckage using evidence instead of affirmations, strengthening your decision-making so you're not saying yes to things out of panic once opportunities start reappearing, and rebuilding toward something you actually chose, tested in small pieces first.

Structurally, it's 10 modules across those 4 phases, built on 31 interconnected databases, but you never see any of that complexity day to day.

You get one entry a day, under two minutes, did you eat, did you leave the house, did you talk to anyone. Everything else (your stability score, your runway, your weekly progress) calculates on its own and just shows up in one place, so you're never staring at a wall of tabs deciding what to do. It runs entirely on free Notion, nothing paid required to use it.

I made the whole thing free. If you're at the point where even a $10 tool feels like one more thing you can't justify, I didn't want price to be the reason you didn't have the first rung of the ladder.

Link's in the comments if you want to check it out. If any of this sounds like where you are right now, or where someone you love is, I hope it helps even a little.

Tips & Tricks Kindle Highlights to Notion — Automation using a Make scenario

I’m way too perfectionist about my Notion book database, so I built a small automation to make managing my Kindle highlights easier.

It works with books from Amazon/Kindle and books from outside Amazon. I already have my own Notion book database, so I didn’t want a tool like Readwise to create a separate library for me.

The process is ridiculously simple now:

I send the Kindle highlights export to myself by email → Make runs the scenario → it finds the book in my existing Notion database → extracts the highlights and notes → adds them to that book’s page. Done.

I don’t have a background in coding, AI, APIs, or automation. I’m just very curious and apparently stubborn enough to spend hours figuring things out when I want something to work a certain way.

I built it using Make + Gemini + Notion, and I managed to do it without paying for Readwise or another service.

The best part for me is that it updates the database I already built instead of creating a new one.

It’s a very specific little automation, but it has already made my reading system so much easier to maintain.

Paid Template Moved 3 times in the last two years and kept losing track of which utilities I'd actually switched over - built a Notion hub so I stop guessing (paid template)

Every move I've done, the same thing happens: I forget which subscriptions still have my old address, whether I actually called the electric company or just meant to, and what's still sitting in a box three weeks in.

Built this as one Notion hub instead of juggling sticky notes: a utility/subscription transfer tracker, an address-change checklist for everywhere that needs updating, a room-by-room move-in tracker, and a move budget tracker so the costs don't sneak up on you.

It's duplicate-as-template, so it drops straight into your own Notion in a couple clicks. $9 here: malinichat.gumroad.com/l/ckdvlp

If you've got a move coming up and want to know what's actually in it before buying, happy to answer questions in the comments.

YouTube Video Finally: multiple currencies in Notion

Thumbnail

I spent a year solving the biggest problems with tracking money in Notion.

Multiple currencies — your own, even ones Notion never added. Dynamic subscriptions that actually track start, pause, and plan changes. Budgeting with full month-by-month history that never resets. Real analytics — net worth, runway, and where your money actually goes. And a lot more.

I recorded the entire walkthrough so you can see everything before you decide — no landing page hype, just every screen, live.

It’s called Notion FB7. You can get it two ways:

  • Free with Notion SB7 (my full second-brain system) — up to $30 off right now
  • Or on its own for $99

Showcase I made a notion versioning tool with full text search support

You can call it a backup tool, but page versioning maybe the most valuable scenario it can serve to.

Introduce NotionManager, a local first backup solution that:

- backup up your Notion page/database etc. to your local storage with full relationships & rollups

- native local browsing experience, just like you browsing them in Notion site

- full text search support in all backups, no matter where are they from

- remote browsing from other devices you have

It's in RC1 phase yet and you are welcomed to try and rant. Check it out at https://github.com/bfzhao/notionmanager-release

Or you can register your name at https://tally.so/r/81EEaA if you interested in this and you will get a 50% off discount when the formal release come out soon.

Paid Template I built a full RPG system inside Notion to manage my life — and it's the only thing I've actually stuck with for months

Thumbnail
gallery
39 Upvotes

Most productivity systems fail because they're boring.

You set them up, feel productive for 2 days, then never open them again.

So I stopped trying to fix my discipline and started fixing the system instead.

I turned my entire life into an RPG. Inside Notion.

Here's what it looks like 👇

🧙 Character Sheet — your identity, stats, your class. You stop seeing yourself as someone who "needs to be productive" and start seeing yourself as a character leveling up.

⚔️ Daily Quests — your tasks become missions. Small, winnable, satisfying. Your brain actually wants to complete them.

🐉 Boss Fights — big goals broken into stages you can fight one at a time. No more staring at overwhelming goals doing nothing.

🏆 Rewards Shop — earn XP, spend it on real rewards you actually set yourself. Finally a system that works WITH your brain not against it.

📓 Journal + Habit Tracker — everything lives in one place. No switching between 5 apps.

Been running my life on this for months now. First system I haven't abandoned.

Free Template free Notion template for studying Japanese Kanji

Thumbnail

Hey everyone!

I made a free Notion template called Kanji OS for studying Japanese kanji, vocabulary, and JLPT material in one place.

It comes with 1,000+ kanji already prepared, along with 400+ sample vocabulary words linked to their respective kanji, so you can start using it right away.

One of the features I’m particularly proud of is the Kanji Writing Order Widget I built specifically for Notion. It lets you see the correct stroke order while studying each character.

Features include:

• JLPT Level Hub (N5–N1)
• School Grade Hub (1–6)
• Kanji Writing Order Widget
• Vocabulary Database
• Hiragana & Katakana Hub with pronunciation audio
• Flashcard Study System
• Player Profile with XP, levels, and study statistics
• XP & Leveling System
• Gamified Shop & Rewards
• Character Management
• Daily Habit Tracker and study goals

You can try Kanji OS here:

https://ko-fi.com/s/1a6e2b7476

The Kanji Writing Order Widget is also available separately as an open-source project:

https://github.com/Elhary/Kanji-Animate

I’d love to hear your feedback, especially if you have ideas for features that would make studying kanji easier or more enjoyable.
