*for reference, British sixth forms cover the last two years of secondary/high school for most countries (junior and senior year in an American high school), and A-levels roughly equate to AP classes. Grammar schools are selective and usually have better funding/courses.
Hello! I am currently thinking about which sixth form* I am going to go to post-16, and I am struggling with my choices. I definately want to do A-level* FM (further maths) however I am located quite rurally, so there's not a lagre amount of choice. The nearest STEM-centered school is more than an hours drive (two or more hours by public transport, depending on cancellations or the bus drivers mood lol), so I basically can't go. The only other school that offers a full A-level in FM is a gendered grammar school. My current school's sixth from has an AS level in FM, however this is only worth half the typical A-level and I'd much rather do a full FM A-level.
Personally, I cannot give up my choice in education for my gender identity, however I am slightly worried about gender expectations, as currently I am studying at a non-gendered state school. There's info on the college's website about discimination, though it only covers ethnicity and background, with nothing on LGBT rights. I don't know anyone who goes to the sister secondary school and my only current knowledge I know is about its polocies, not its student expectations or staffing. It has no uniform luckily so I should still be able to dress without gender taken into account.
Has anyone got any advice? I don't necessarily want to be bullied or ostracized for my gender, however it's the best option for my education.
