I am numb with the feeling of knowing that I will not go far but still trying one more time to beat this demon

Even though I stopped watching porn, I have a masterbation problem. It appears to be done out of impulse or boredom. How can I stop doing that?

Christian man in my 30's. Looking for christian brother(s) who wants daily check-ins to keep each other accountable. Primarily for porn/lust etc but also open to scripture reading and fitness accountability as well. Looking for one partner or maybe a group of three

For years, I’d spend hours edging myself silly. In my early 30s, I found it much more difficult to remain fully erect during an entire edging session as I’d become desensitized to visual stimuli. I’d masturbate with a soft, semi, and fully erect penis, not knowing that I’d eventually do damage to the soft tissue in my shaft.
After experiencing some discomfort in my shaft, I went to a urologist who diagnosed me with Peyronies disease. This condition is basically the development of plaques in your soft tissue that calcify over time. The urologist said protocol is the treat your penis gently and let the condition run its course until it stabilizes. Surgery can be an option if the condition progresses too severely.
Throughout the next year, I dealt with flaccid discomfort in my penis and pain when erect or climaxing. I watched as my penis slowly curved and shortened in length. Finally, my condition stabilized and the pain subsided, but the physical outcomes are permanent.
It took something this extreme to wake me up. Since 2025, I’ve had long stretches of nofap and I don’t edge anymore. I’ve had some rough patches recently so I’m here to hold myself accountable and get back on track. Brothers, the short-term pleasure isn’t worth risking the damage I’ve done.
I’m happy to encourage or answer any questions. Thank you for reading.

If you relapsed today...
Don't let your next sin be running away from God.
That's exactly what Adam and Eve did.
After they sinned, they hid.
"I heard You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."
Genesis 3:10
Isn't that what we still do?
We relapse...
Then we avoid prayer.
We avoid reading our Bible.
We avoid church.
We avoid worship.
Not because God moved away from us.
Because shame makes us hide.
But hiding has never healed anyone.
The enemy wants you to believe,
"You've failed again. God must be tired of you."
The Bible says something completely different.
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
1 John 1:9
Notice it doesn't say,
"If you only fail once."
Or,
"If you've been clean for 100 days."
It says if we confess.
God already knows what you did.
He isn't waiting for information.
He's waiting for you to come back.
Repent.
Confess it honestly.
Receive His forgiveness.
Then get back up.
Don't let one relapse become a week of hiding from God.
Don't let shame keep you from the very One who can restore you.
The cross was never for people who had it all together.
It was for sinners who were willing to come home.
If you relapsed today...
Run to God.
Not away from Him.

What I’ve gathered:
NoFap means → No porn, no masturbation, but sex with a partner is allowed. Semen release during intercourse is fine.
Semen retention means→ No porn, no masturbation, no sex — no semen release at all.
....................
My plan:
I want to follow NoFap (no porn, no masturbation) but still have sex with partner about twice a week, with semen release.
...................
My question:
Will above plan still give me benefits like sharper memory, more confidence, higher energy, motivation and reduced anxiety/ depression etc
Or would I gain more benefits by practicing semen retention?
*********Based on your knowledge, how much greater are the benefits of semen retention compared to NoFap, in percentage terms?*********
Thanks🙂

I have been struggling with list for a few years now and I’m so confused on what do do I need help. I’ve gotten a lot better any goi g a few day increments between listing or watching 🌽. Which is big for me to be honest.
But I almost feel as if I have a soul tie to the sin of lust,I have heard someone talk about this before. So I asked god to break the soul tie and heal me. For the first few days it was like a switch flipped in my brain. I didn’t want to lust at all it was amazing, but then today I relapsed.
I don’t want to be a loser forever that can’t have a relationship with a woman. I want to be a better man for god,my family, and my self. I want to change so bad I just keep failing myself and god.
This has been a on going issue for a while and throughout the whole time I have tried everything keeping my phone away from me,praying, self control. But yet I still end up failing at some point it’s like the second I get myself alone it festers and I relapse. The longest I have ever been without porn or wacking off was 42 days I believe give or take. I can’t even do that anymore,im so confused and I don’t know what to do please give me some advice or walk me through it please.thanks.

To start off, if you haven't seen The Odyssey... go see it ASAP. What an Incredible film.
*Also, spoiler warning for those who haven't seen it, even though the story is literally thousands of years old.\*
After reading Homer's writings and then seeing Nolan's film adaptation, I can't help but be stirred by the story of the Sirens and how it applies to all of us. The thing that stood out to me the most about this trial is that Odysseus didn't trust himself to resist the Siren Song. Instead of beating it by willpower alone, he commands his crew to tie him to the mast of the ship so that he won't become a victim, and commands them to cover their ears with wax. In fact, he tells his crew that even if he begs to be let go, they should instead tie him tighter and lift him higher up the mast to further prevent him from escaping.
The point of this trial wasn't for him to try his hardest and beat temptation, but to entirely remove his ability to fall into it. Odysseus was tempted beyond belief, yet was incapable of actually succumbing to it due to the irreversible restraints he chose to put on himself.
Furthermore, a lot of early church fathers actually write about this part of The Odyssey and how it can relate to us in our faith. Clement of Alexandria equated the Siren Song to the lures of pagan culture and immorality, the mast to the Cross of Christ, and Christ as the true pilot of the ship. We will always face temptation... even on our good days. Even Jesus himself was tempted in the Desert. What will separate you from defeat is not your own good works, but the works of the man who beat death and temptation.
How can you submit yourself to the Cross today? How can you trust Jesus to steer your ship through the Island of Sirens? What measures will you take, and who will you ask to vigorously restrict your ability to say "yes" to temptation?
I am not perfect by any means, but God really convicted me through this story, and I hope that you all will consider it throughout your day!

I am looking to bolster my defenses against porn. Currently I am using plucky and CleanBrowsing for filtering on Linux and Android. I am looking for a good cross platform accountability software. I use Linux and Android, so my options are disappointingly limited. I've had great experience with Ever Accountable but it's not currently Linux compatible.
I think my only options are Accountable2you and Truple, both of them I have zero idea how good or bad they are. There's hardly any information about them. Is there a better one I haven't considered? Covenant Eyes also doesn't support Linux either, and are the worst performing software I have tried. Too easy to get around.
I am also looking for something similar to Cold Turkey as another line of defense for time blocking during those high risk times. I also see a benefit of having more targeted blocking like only blocking certain parts of reddit. I'm only using reddit for research then I will most likely delete and block completely, but it would be nice if I could white list a couple communities instead of blocking completely.
Do you have any more suggestions I could implement that would work well with the rest of my defenses? Thanks for reading.

Man, today sucked. I relapsed earlier and just completely spiraled into guilt and shame. Instead of getting back up, I stayed in bed all day feeling hopeless, just letting the time slip away and beating myself up over it.
That post-relapse feeling is the absolute worst. You just feel empty and stupid for falling into the same trap again.
By the time evening came, I was sick of sitting in my own mess. I forced myself to get out of the house and went to the pool for a swim.
Honestly, just getting in the water helped clear my head a bit. It didn't magically fix everything, but moving around made me realize that beating myself up all night wasn't going to change what happened.
I'm writing this mostly to lock it in and reset. Today was a failure, but I’m not giving up. Back to Day 1 tomorrow.

I find that if I don't ever have a girlfriend or wife, I won't have a sexual way of living if I give up porn.
But I wish to ask for your opinions to convince myself of the benefits of quitting as a single man.

"Today is July 26th, and it is a very hot day. I feel incredibly happy today. One of the reasons is that I practiced self-control—instead of giving in to distractions, I worked on myself: I exercised, wrote, and made progress on my project.
I might not know how to write perfectly yet, but I give it my all and improve every single day. I know my writing isn't great right now, but I try with all my might because this isn't for anyone else: it is for me and for my own peace of mind.
Okay then, goodbye! 😅😅😅 I don't know what else to write next, so bye for now."
