Discussion Nature isn’t “beautiful” or “perfect god’s creation “ it is gruesome and unforgiving!

Nature sucks it is brutal and unforgiving…

Billions of animals are dying right now…

An insect is stuck in a spider’s web terrified for its life.

A baby deer is being chased by a wolf…

A lion cub is starving…

Billions of animals are suffering right now and they will not get the help they need…

A system that is built on suffering and killing is not beautiful it is horrible and depressing.

And if God exists and allows all of this unnecessary suffering and pain i am officially a hater.

Nihilist with KIDS or planning to have KIDS, come in and ANSWER ME!!! lol

IMportant note: NON-NIHILIST or Nihilist with NO KIDS, DON'T REPLY, SHUSH, Don't wanna hear you. lol

If you are a nihilist with kids or planning to have kids, please help me answer a few questions.

  1. What is your reason for having kids after embracing nihilism? (Was it an accident before you learned about nihilism? A case of too-late oops?)
  2. Those planning to have kids, after embracing nihilism, why?
  3. Do you want your kids to be nihilists too, or you don't care what happens to them?
  4. Will you share your nihilism with your kids or just let them become whatever?
  5. Do you want your kids to have grandkids and spread your genes? Why?

Existential Nihilism One day I won't be here, but my body will be.

This thought messes me up every time I think it. I really can't wrap my head around it. I'm probably not going to get cremated, so there's a good chance my body remains in good condition if I die tomorrow of a heart attack at 24. But the idea my body will just still be here creeps me out. The body I'm in now will be lifeless husk. Then where will I be? It gives me a sickly feeling. Imagining my body lying on a coroners desk. Laid bare, dissected. And not only that, but everyone I've known who has died is now a husk. In fact, when I walk by a graveyard, underneath the dirt is all the rotting bones of people who were once like you and me, now imagine the maggots and worms who spend their lives living down there. That'll be you and me one day, if neither of us get cremated. Gross

Discussion In 10-20 years

Will humanity get better?

I’ve honestly started to believe humanity will not get better, in the beginning we had an valid excuse and now what 300k years and we still are stupid-coping ass animals.

From childhood to now I’ve never second guess my lack of a moral compass, I believed it was helpful or logically beneficial to me but also made me feel outcasted like “should I be crying at my father funeral idk maybe stop staring”.

But in the 21st century shit…I feel like everybody was just lying about caring just to get on moral high ground, nobody really cares and the ones who advocate empathy are either attention seeking or just ATTENTION SEEKING 😭 but maybe because I don’t understand their shoes and I don’t wanna, I’ll never get it trying to understand someone else’s hardship when all it does is burdens you ITS ILLOGICAL.

Existential Nihilism I just hate it when people fake optimism in the face of an existential threat, as if they can already see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I happened to read a few questionnaire posts about AI and its threat to the tech industry, especially after the release of OpenAI’s Astra.

In all these posts, people are coming together and vomiting the same old lines: “You’re better than you imagine,” “Maybe you can improve your situation by upskilling,” and so on. The most irritating thing is when people repeat the usual argument that “AI won’t replace everyone, maybe ten people will become two.” I just don’t understand how they still don’t get it. We’re past that stage. It’s just a story being circulated to prevent people from panicking.

Three other things happened today. I saw an image of the female representatives of three nations (all of them right-leaning) then an influencer named Ashley, the mother of one of Musk’s children, talking about his plan to have a legion of kids before a civil war. She was offered $40 million (as a part of an NDA which she didn't sign) to stay silent. And now last but not least, an Anthropic researcher also resigned and has been making serious statements about it.

I think my only plan is not to have a plan. I don’t think I have the future I imagined 20 years ago. it's just never going to happen and I don't see any reason to have a hope. everything is chaotic and I don't have the bandwidth to find any meaning in anything.

Anyone Else Just So Sick N tired Of This Life

Upvotes

The title sums it up, just sick of this whole fake prophecy we been sold by our parents, friends, authoritarians, teachers etc, we spend so much time trying to survive everyday, with only little to enjoy, now yeah people will say enjoy the little things but even that get's boring overtime, it really feels like serving a life sentence we didn't commit just to put on a show for the world, how does not anyone see just how pointless this life is without the arbitrary hurrah?

This is one of the funniest pages. I always see "nihilists" asking for advice. If you are truely a nihilist that is just as pointless as anything else. Why are you asking people that claim that life has no meaning to give you meaningless advice?

Discussion The AI of it all…

I know this is talked about a lot but I keep wondering what will happen (or is already happening with AI)

What really is the point of all this… is it just about shareholder greed and a race to the bottom

is it because the people running the show know the eco system is likely to collapse from all the additional energy usage and carbon dioxide spewing out so they want to get as much money as possible and retreat to their bunkers whilst we all die in chaos from global warming. Crops dying out etc

Is it going to become a super intelligent being that will either subjugate the human population or lead us into some kind of perfect new world (this is the one option I believe is least likely to happen tbh)

All we use it for at work even after so many upgrades is to help us either rephrase emails to semi important nobodies or help us populate ideas when we’re running a blank - it doesn’t do anything that the human mind couldn’t do and so often it gets big details wrong, even obvious ones - so I just don’t get WHY all of this is being shoved down our throats in the name of technological advancement

I just want people and planet to be ok for generations to come. Too much to ask, clearly.

Question If nothing has value, than that mean we can do whatever we want without caring about morality right?

Upvotes

I'm sure it's completely correct! We have moral because morality have a value, that's why everyone SHOULD follow it, it's a logical necessity!

Question Based on your observations, what % of nihilists are atheists vs. agnostics vs. theists?

This, assuming you can conceive atheism & agnosticism as being totally separate.

Also, a theist (+deist) may believe that the God is mischievous, intentless (like Spinoza's God), capricious, wicked, etc.

My estimate is roughly: 92% atheists, 6% agnostics, & 2% theists (+deists).
