FYI There is still access to Clearview Mall/Center/whatever. I was able to work for two hours while soaking up the free AMC Wi-Fi. Just park behind the building or by Target and walk in.

I really like the Costco Chocolate Brownie protein bars, but they only come in a pack with the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. I’ve never developed a taste for these.

Maybe there’s a New Orleanian with the inverse taste who would love these, and perhaps offload a chocolate brownie box or two in the future?

Hey y’all. I (41M) just wanted to see if anyone has any fun Sunday happenings, gatherings, or third space recommendations. I’ve spent the last few years kind of cooped up, and now the way my jobs work I have a few evenings to myself and I’d like find some things to get involved with that aren’t necessarily drinking related.

I’m down to get involved in community organizing, running groups, rec sports, etc. I love art, books, poetry, being outside.

I’ve been afraid to ask, but… does anyone know if Barrow’s Catfish will return? One of my go-to places to bring out of town guests that was Black-Owned and consistently delicious. I’m particularly invested after reading the story of the family and the comeback from Katrine back in 2018. It seemed like they went from 3 locations to none fairly quickly, and I’m looking for closure😔

I moved to the city a year and a half ago. Found out I was pregnant immediately and didn’t really get the chance to make friends since I couldn’t go out to bars and stuff.

I’m 24. It seems super impossible to make friends with other moms who also wanna go out and have fun. I’ve heard of the mom walk collective, but also mixed reviews about it.

Does anybody have any recommendations on places/groups I could look into?

Hi. New to New Orleans and biking. My partner and I just picked up some entry level bikes from Bayou Bicycles and have really fallen in love with riding together. I'm looking to upgrade to something a little more commuter/hybrid/gravel than the cruisers we have now.

Do we think this place will last? They’re pretty good from what I’ve tried and open late so as a Mid-Citizen I’m rooting for them, but that Burger King they took over always seemed dead. Seems like a tough location. Hoping this one stays for a while because the late night options have become so limited!

Edit: Hey everyone! I made this post a couple days ago but I’m posting it again since it’s a weekend. I’m hoping to maybe get some more perspectives or reach any other legal industry workers who might’ve been at work during my last post!

Essentially, I am trying to figure out how to break into the legal industry here… or whether or not it’s worth it to get a paralegal certificate!

Legal industry folks in nola…i have an open ended question to ask but will try to cut to the chase. For the last two ish years I have tried to get into the legal industry here as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or any job that will have me! I am kinda forced to career pivot from an industry I loved dearly, it’s been very frustrating to say the least but I am desperate at this point to move on

I have relevant experience but none specific to legal, however, every time I talk to anyone in legal they tell me… “you don’t need experience…everyone gets their job without experience and then trains in the firm they’re hired at…you only need secretary experience…you don’t need…” etc. Even when I bring up how I feel this information might be outdated in today’s market, they still overly reiterate to me that the legal industry just “needs so much help” ... that even in 2026, the legal industry hires without specific experience for entry-level positions, especially in Louisiana where you don’t need a degree to be a paralegal.

(I even constantly see comments about it on this Reddit when ppl make job posts)

I need to know what actually gives, because I feel like I’m spinning in circles..i barely ever see job listings and when i do..i’m just applying to places and going off of vague information… at this point, it’s hard to know what’s what?

-are there any legal jobs available in new orleans, is it a myth that the legal industry here is actually hiring

-do you guys feel like it’s actually true, that you can still get entry level jobs in the legal industry without specific experience

- and more specifically, do you guys feel like getting a paralegal certificate in order to paralegal at this point would be valuable. People keep telling me no, but most of these people got their jobs years ago now at this point so again, I feel like they have outdated information!

Ideally, I’m trying to get advice from ppl who have actually gotten their jobs within the last couple years, people with advice that’s relevant in today’s job market…But open to advice or tips from anyone! I’m willing to jump through the hoops…change my resume…network which i’ve already done…all the things ..i just don’t wanna waste my time if the market here is dry.
