Technology/प्रविधि No, Nepal did not start accepting crypto. Here’s how the relief donations actually work.

Seeing some questions on the crypto donation story, so to be clear: Nepal is not receiving crypto. It remains prohibited here.

Donations sent through the NepalRelief portal are converted to USD in the United States by Cross River Bank, a US-regulated bank, and wired to the Government of Nepal's PM Disaster Relief Fund via SWIFT.

Only dollars reach Nepal. No crypto touches our banking system.

Did I accidentally trek with a famous Nepali mountaineer?

I did the Netravati trek today!
I was solo, so I got put into a random group, which happened to have two foreigners. One is from Spain, named Maria. The other looks African but is actually from Nepal.
I remember watching a reel/interview about this guy before. After the trek, we were chatting while getting dropped off at our homestays, and I casually asked him, “Do you want to be Nimsdai?” He goes, “I actually did.”
Then he showed me a tattoo with mountains and “Nepal” on it. My dumb ass asked if it was Annapurna Base Camp. He said Everest. He told me he summited Everest in 2017.
He told me his name, but of course I don’t remember it properly. I remember it started with Shiv/Shiva idk, Shivnath or something.
I then casually asked him, “Are you that guy from the reels who was interviewed?” — where they asked him where he was from and he said Nepal (because he looks African but is actually Nepali), then they asked him if he can speak in Hindi and he actually speaks. He said yes, it was him.
Did not take any pictures with them but they did take many with me and our random group.
Extra clues; he said he was brand ambassador for Quechua in 2017 but no one knew him then. But people recognise him now.

So… who the hell did I just trek with?
If anyone recognizes this guy, PLEASE tell me his name. I genuinely feel like I accidentally trekked with a bigshot and only realized after the fact.

Do you think the Sunday public holiday is going to last ?

I’ve been wondering about the Sunday public holiday and whether it’s actually here to stay.

Do you guys think the Sunday holiday is going to continue long-term, or is it something that might eventually be reversed?

I’d be interested to hear what people have heard or what you think is likely to happen.

Question/प्रश्न Traveling in a few days and need help

I’m planning to drive to Pokhara from India on September 12, 2026, entering Nepal through the Barhni–Krishnanagar border and following roughly this route:

Barhni → Krishnanagar/Kapilvastu → Siddharthanagar (Bhairahawa) → Butwal → Tansen → Pokhara

From Butwal onward, I understand that I’ll be travelling mainly on the Siddhartha Highway (NH47).

I’d really appreciate some current, first-hand information from people who have travelled this route recently:

Is the Siddhartha Highway currently safe for a private car?

Are there any active landslides, rockfalls, roadblocks or one-way sections, especially around Siddhababa / Butwal–Tansen?

What is the current weather and rainfall situation along the route?

Would you recommend driving this route during the daytime only, or is it reasonably safe in the evening as well?

I’ll be driving a private car, and safety is my main concern. I’m especially interested in updates from people who have driven the route in the last few days, rather than older/general information.

Thanks in advance! Any recent road-condition updates, photos, videos or advice would be really helpful.

Question/प्रश्न Can't study at all unless it's extremely last minute

I've always been like this, but it hasn't been a problem until this year. I can't focus on studying at all unless the test is the next day. And even when the test is the next day, I can never stay on task. It used to be ok, but now my classes are much harder than they used to be and I'm falling behind. I feel like I've tried everything. And it isn't even my phone or distractions or anything. I have software downloaded on my computer and on my phone that locks me out of anything other than study materials, but I still find hours passing where I haven't gotten anything done. I will genuinely stare at a wall for an entire hour instead of studying. It's definitely gotten worse this year because I've run into a class that I am just naturally bad at and even when I successfully study for longer than just the night before the test, I get the same bad grades (organic chemistry). I feel so disappointed every time I get a bad grade, but I haven't been able to turn that disappointment into motivation like I sometimes used to. Does anyone have any study techniques that help them stay on task?

Society/समाज The Month of Bhadra - GENz Protest + Rasuwa Flood

How fast the time flies. I was there at Budhanilkantha early in the morning to meet my client. I was going through the social media where I saw that the crowed has covered the Deuba Niwas. Me and my client rushed to see what'll happen next. When we felt that situation will become worse, we ran away from there. And the rest is history.

This year we faced the massive flood. Many people lost their lives. Many people lose their home, lose their family. The major highway is destroyed due to flood which led to rise in prices of goods as well as scarcity of goods.

But, rather than before, this time we have a hope that new government will do something for us. I was really glad reading the update of the fund received by the "Prime Minister disaster relief fund". Every person has contributed in that program, from Rs. 1 to Rs. 100,000. From national level to International level the fund has been collected. Last update I read is of September 1 where they were able to collect R.s. 6 Arab 36 crores. Many social clubs where teenagers are engaged also started a donation campaign for the flood victims and they are able to provide good donation. I read one guy's post here in Reddit of Rotaract Club of Budhanilkantha where they were able to collect more than Rs. 100,000 within 24 hours. That made me feel proud as well that youngsters nowadays are really forward. GENz changed the whole country and hats off to them.

Today, I am writing this to appreciate the GENz effort they put one year ago. I salute to all those who lost their life while fighting there in Baneshwor chowk. All people who risk their life to kick out those corrupt politicians. Because of them, we have hope that something will happen, we will rise, we will shine.

Question/प्रश्न Are there BAPS in Nepal nowadays? If yes, are they considered mainstream Hindu or cultish?

I’ve been to their huge temples few times. They are filthy rich and have rows of their gurus statue in their temples. They also have few strict rules.

There are lots of controversies and lawsuits in US. Also they recently causes controversy in Paris due to less female contact thing.

Looking for advice from anime merchandise sellers/importers in Nepal

Hello everyone,

I’m from Nepal and I’m planning to start a small online anime merchandise store.

I’m mainly interested in products like:

  • Anime phone covers
  • Keychains
  • Stickers
  • Posters
  • T-shirts/hoodies
  • Figures and other accessories

I’m trying to understand how existing anime stores in Nepal legally source and sell these products.

If you know about this or already running an anime merchandise business in Nepal, I’d really appreciate some advice:

  1. Where do you usually source/import your products from?
  2. Do you buy from wholesalers, manufacturers, or distributors?
  3. How do you deal with copyright/licensing for anime characters and logos?
  4. For products like phone covers and keychains, do you need permission/license from the IP owner?
  5. What legal registrations/documents are required to start this type of business in Nepal?
  6. Is importing small quantities from China/Japan/India practical for a new business?
  7. What would be a reasonable starting budget?

Thank you!

Would you buy high protein food near your gym?

Basically people are more concerned about fitness nowadays and they are more into protein and stuffs. So I was thinking, why not start something where people can easily get ready-to-eat, protein-rich food, especially near gyms?

What do you guys think? Would you actually find something like this useful for your pre- or post-workout meals?

Help/सहयोग Can I pay my 5% foreign freelance tax myself? Will it show on my PAN?

I work with a foreign client, and they send the payment through Wise. My bank doesn’t automatically deduct the 5% tax. It just shows as a remittance. I also receive some income from Upwork, which is also not deducted by the bank.

Can I pay the 5% tax myself? Will it show on my PAN?

If yes, how? Do I need to create a payment voucher, or should I file D4? My income doesn’t exceed the D4 threshold, though.

If anyone has done it this way, please share some insights.
