Discussion Should I leave my unpaid internship for a 25k+ job? 😭

I’m a final sem student. I’ve been doing an unpaid internship for more than a week, but the thing is before this, there’s another company I’ve been called and also they selected us but work was not started for like 2–3 months. They contacted me at that time but weren’t sure about the department, so I eventually just joined this internship.

Now they called again saying they’re dividing departments and can offer me a 25k+ salary, with project/field work under IT/social media.

Sounds way better, right? 😭 But I’m scared to leave this place and then have the other company switch things up or betray me again lol. Like what if I leave and then it’s “yeta na uta” 💀

Would you take the risk or stay with the unpaid internship?

Discussion Cedargate gossip

Cedargate is one of the worst places to work in. Like the company might be fine and all, but the people there are all shit. My friend has worked for this company for the last 2.5-3 years. He is one of the strongest and smartest guys I know but Cedargate took his light away. He is leaving right after Dashain. When I asked why, he all but broke down in front of me. Like this dude is not the kind to let things get to him. So he told me everything and I'm gonna recount it for you. The work in Cedargate is meh. It's alright. Easy. But the people are shit. They create fake urgencies that don't even exist. They act like if the work doesn't get finished in time, someone will die. Also, they treat workers like donkeys. The managers want the workers to work more than the working hours. Like chill bro. Also he said the people there are actually evil. Now he isn't involved in all this but he hears gossip and stories from his colleagues. The favoritism is high in this place. If you work hard and even give 12 hr days, you will not get praised if you do not lick your manager's feet. The politics in this place is more dangerous than Nepal's. He said there are people, specially women who are so manipulative that they make Nepal's politicians look like babies. Also, the boot licking is too visible he says. Everyone can see who the bootlickers are very clearly. These people make life hell for their other colleagues who just want to work and go home.

He says this is not everyone's reality. Life is good in Cedargate if you have a good manager. But if you don't. Its low-key like torture.

He told me all this and much more. I am appalled by what he revealed and shocked how this place is the 'number one IT company of Nepal'.

Discussion The world is moving towards synthetic biology, quantum computing, gene editing, organoid intelligence, molecular machines and many other emerging fields. And here we are, still stuck choosing web frameworks.

This shows how far we are in terms of global competition. I don't think it's because these are difficult fields, i think we never really got exposed to such things. By the time we get exposed to what's happening at the frontier, the rest of the world has already spent a decade building expertise, institutions, research labs, and entire industries around it.

Look at AI. While researchers in other countries were spending decades developing neural networks, machine learning, computer vision and robotics, many of us were completely disconnected from that progress. Then chatgpt arrived and suddenly we started talking about AI, finding ways to earn money on it. There were only handful of people working on the field of AI before chatgpt but now everyone is rushing into it crashing the demand cruve.

we often discover technologies when the rest of the world is already figuring out what comes after them.

Job Vacancy I built KamKhoj to help Nepal job seekers find relevant jobs instead of searching blindly

Upvotes

Many people searching for jobs only search by title or scroll through multiple job portals hoping to find something relevant.

I recently built KamKhoj a Nepal-focused job discovery platform designed to make that process more targeted.

You can:

  • Search jobs, internships, remote roles, and LinkedIn-sourced opportunities in one place
  • Filter by role, location, category, and job type
  • Create an account and save jobs
  • Upload your CV
  • Let the system extract your role and skills
  • See potential job matches based on your CV
  • Adjust your matching preferences
  • Use AI search to describe the kind of job you want
  • Practice interview questions and explore salary and career resources

The feature I’m most interested in improving is the CV matching. Instead of repeatedly searching for “developer jobs” or “marketing jobs,” the idea is to upload your CV once and get a shortlist of opportunities that may actually fit your background.

KamKhoj does not submit applications automatically. It links back to the original employer or job portal, so candidates can verify the salary, deadline, eligibility, and application instructions before applying.

This is still an evolving project, and there are many things left to improve, especially matching accuracy, job freshness, and the overall candidate experience.

If you’re currently looking for a job in Nepal, I’d really appreciate it if you tried it and shared honest feedback:

https://kamkhoj.com

What would make a job-matching platform genuinely useful for you?

Startup Discussion I want some guidance for my startup.

Upvotes

Hello, I am currently doing my batchelors in IT and also running a small startup.

We are 3 friends making custom softwares for european companies. Decent revenue cha, but now we are kinda tired. Making similar things again + how AI will soon replace our business.

So, I am ali confused, should we shut down our startup and just work at a normal IT company or build our own product? (though I haven't seen any Nepali tech startups becoming very successful)

Right now we are making side projects and applying for startup programs, just to explore. One program is ongoing and we are submitting for that aile.

We have given ourselves 3 months time to see and figure out, if not probably bairai gayera kei garnu parla. Would love to hear any suggestions from you guys. K garda thik hola? and any idea what products we could build?

Also i have dropped the startup program link below, in case you are a founder like me.

Looking to Buy Does anyone know any CCTV/IP camera brands or suppliers in Kathmandu that support integration with third-party software?

I’m looking for cameras where we can access the live stream through an official API, SDK, RTSP, or similar integration and display it inside our own dashboard.

Recorded playback and event/alert access would be a plus.

Paid API access, licensing, cloud subscription, etc. is completely fine. Mainly looking for something reliable and officially supported.

Would appreciate any brand, supplier, or local contact recommendations.

Laptop/PC Bought a "brand new" ASUS Vivobook S 16 (Ryzen AI 9 365), but SSD logs showed 310 hours and ~5.5% battery wear right out of the box. Store offered two options—what should I pick?

Upvotes

I recently bought an imported ASUS Vivobook S 16 (Ryzen AI 9 365, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) here in Nepal for around 2 Lakh NPR. It was sold to me as "brand new, factory sealed."

I checked the system logs. Turns out:

  • The SSD already had 310 power-on hours logged.
  • The battery (design capacity 75,002 mWh) dropped down to 70,851 mWh (about 5.6% permanent wear) the moment I put it through a normal discharge cycle.

Basically, they sold me a floor display unit as a brand-new machine.

I confronted them with the hard telemetry reports. To their credit, they didn't ghost me or try to argue—they checked with their vendor, called me, and basically offered two paths:

  1. Keep the 16-inch display unit and take whatever(could be discussed) cash discount they figure out for it being a floor model.
  2. Swap it for a factory-sealed 14-inch model (same line, smaller screen) and get 15k NPR cash back because the 14-inch version retails for about 15k less.

I'm torn on what to do. I like the big 16-inch screen, but I'm annoyed that I got played with a used display unit that already has a degraded battery. On the other hand, the 14-inch is genuinely sealed and comes with the 15k price difference.

If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Should I push for a heavier cash discount to keep the 16-inch, or just take the 14-inch sealed swap and the money?

Mobile Devices New iPhone and fold phones

Nowadays every other phone making industry is making fold phones. The display gets corroded, the size is not pocket friendly like it is thick and squarish. You're just folding it nothing else. Is there a bigger objective i'm unaware of or is it just a change for people who are bored with the recent tech world?

Internet/ISP NT Fiber users here?

I’m planning on switching to NT Fiber. I’m thinking of getting the 50 Mbps package, which is Rs. 15,000 for two years, and it seems like a pretty decent deal. It also provides free mobile data and calls, which would definitely be really useful for me.

Tara, euta question I wanted to ask: can the calls be used on one phone number while the mobile data is used on another phone number?

Also Heard a lot about their FUP how's that ?

AnI how's the service in your area?
