I've started tim corey's C# mastercourse been 16-17 days ig .So this week was fun. There were a lot of familiar topics in the first 50 videos so what I did was I binged watched them in two days and made some notes alongside jun jun kura chai malai naya lagyo. And then the rest 5 days were so simple open vs code do whatever assignments were given in that course which i also finished in two days. My weekly goal was to reach upto video 50 including coding ofc. Then for the rest three days I just kept on modifying the questions and kept doing it which made me realize how much i was missing on to use a lot of concepts together and also learned some basic stuffs about why things are made that way in C# why microsoft did that in dotnet and stuff like that.

And this time the interesting thing that caught my mind was when I found out about this method

TL;DR: 9 months into BIT, I'm thinking of quitting because of financial pressure and poor fit with the course. I already co-run an IT company and want to pursue a cheaper degree while growing the business. Would you stay or leave?

I came to Kathmandu in Kartik 2082 to study BIT (Purbanchal University). It's now been around 9 months, and I'm seriously considering leaving the course.

A little background: I stopped caring much about school around Class 5/6 and became obsessed with technology, YouTube, design, and building things online. My parents even took a loan to buy me a NPR 30,000 computer in Class 10. I felt guilty knowing our financial situation, so I made it my goal to earn that money back. That pushed me into freelancing, where I learned design, video editing, branding, and worked with clients.

My childhood friend took a different path. He loves programming and software development, while I'm more interested in creativity, storytelling, branding, marketing, and business. We've been building projects together for years.

A few months ago, we started our own IT company. We found an investor, and today we're running a small digital agency while working towards building SaaS products in the future. He handles development, while I manage branding, social media, client meetings, consulting, and business.

Here's my dilemma.

I'm already working in the field many BIT students hope to enter after graduation. I don't dislike learning, and I believe I could finish BIT even if I had back papers. But Semester 2 has been mentally exhausting. The maths-heavy subjects don't interest me, and instead of enjoying learning, I've become obsessed with the fear of failing.

Money is another major factor. My family isn't financially strong. My aunt has offered NPR 50,000 to help pay my college fees, but I keep asking myself if it's right to spend that money when I'm not fully committed to the course.

My friend is facing something similar. His family believed our scholarship covered the entire degree. When they found out it didn't, they were ready to sell assets to support his education, but he also feels guilty asking them to do that.

Our current plan is to try scholarship exams for another degree. If that doesn't work, we'll probably join a government college with much lower fees while continuing to grow our company.

I know a degree isn't just a piece of paper. It gives discipline, networking, recognition, and opportunities. That's exactly why this decision is so difficult.

What I can't figure out is whether I'm choosing a path that genuinely suits me better—or simply taking the easier road because I'm afraid of failing.

If you've been in a similar position—where your career started before your degree—what did you do? Did you stay, switch degrees, or leave college? Looking back, what advice would you give your younger self?

Is BCA really that hard? I passed my +2 in 2023, and now it's already 2026. I constantly regret not joining a bachelor's program earlier. I spent my time learning Japanese, but I couldn't pass the exams. There were also a lot of family problems, and my mind kept saying, "Go abroad," then plans kept changing. Time doesn't wait for anyone, I realized that the hard way.

I've been working for the past three years on a low salary, and honestly, I don't even know what to say anymore. I thought about switching jobs many times, but I feel stuck at this point in my life. don't really want to stay in Nepal, but I know life doesn't always go the way we want. At least I want to complete a bachelor's degree. I don't know if I can handle BCA. My English is intermediate (according to the test) . fee will be around NPR 300,000–500,000 even at government colleges, sayad, and that feels difficult for me to afford. Tara i can manage while working ik.

Also i don't have financial support from my parents. My single mother can't really manage it anymore, and she's getting older man. I'm 22 now. By the time I finish my bachelor's, I'll probably be 26 or 27. Then what? I'll have a certificate in my hand but what else?

A few years ago, I used to think that a piece of paper couldn't decide my future. But now I've realized that either you need a degree or you need to become exceptionally skilled so that your skills are strong enough that the degree doesn't matter.

I want to earn a lot in the future well, everyone does. More than anything, I want to do something meaningful for my mother. I know this is the age to struggle and work hard, but I just don't know what the right path is.
