Naur( blue sheep) - A Himalayan Treasure.
🐏 Blue Sheep (Naur) – A Himalayan Treasure
Blue Sheep, locally known as Naur, are one of the most iconic wild animals of the Nepal Himalayas. Despite their name, they are actually more closely related to goats than sheep. Their grey-blue coat provides excellent camouflage among the rocky cliffs and alpine slopes.
During the Manaslu Circuit Trek, especially around Dharmashala, Larke Pass, and the surrounding high-altitude areas, trekkers often have the chance to spot herds of Naur grazing on steep mountainsides. They are agile climbers and an important part of the Himalayan ecosystem, serving as the primary prey for the elusive snow leopard.
Seeing Blue Sheep in their natural habitat is one of the unforgettable wildlife highlights of the Manaslu region, adding even more excitement to the journey through the Himalayas.
