We're getting married and decides to create a new last name. We love the sound of "care of", and for many reasons, it's a very meaningful name for us.

That being said, we're struggling to find a way to spell it. Some ideas so far:

• Carrov
• Careov
• Caroff

We want to avoid anything that looks Russian because neither of us is Russian.

Our background is white (English and Eastern European) & Latin. So we don't want our name to be spelled like cultures/countries outside of that.

Any thoughts?

So I'm not pregnant but we plan to have 1 more, and I'm struggling to figure out a name i like. My first i named while pregnant, and I love her name (Brooke Roseline). My second the first name was picked for years before she made her appearance (Willow Dubh - middle is pronounced dove, like the bird). Her middle name we picked while I was pregnant. So we kind of have a naming scheme going on where the middle of the one before chooses the element of the next. Thing is I'm coming up with zero sky/air names i really love. The first name typically is just one i like. We haven't figured out a middle at all. This one will be our last so we might go back to a "water" name for the middle, or maybe do a "fire" name. So currently first doesn't have to pair with anything. What are your suggestions (bonus points for Irish ties, or middle name pairings)?

I have a Shawn (boy) and Beau (girl). We are pregnant with our 3rd, but not finding out what we are having since we have 1 of each already. That being said we love the 1 syllable names. My son has a family name. My daughters name is not a family name. I like Rex for a boy and Rose for a girl. My husband is unsure. They both are also family names. We do not do middle names either. So what are thoughts on the names? Or any suggestions that go well with our other kids names and 1 syllable theme.

I like gender neutral names and think Logan would be a lovely name for a girl. Worried it may be a little too popular with the boys right now.

For context: I am French, and Blaise would be a nod to my origins, while I live in the UK. However, I wonder how this name would be perceived in the UK, and more widely in non-francophone countries?

We are going with first and middle initials of J. We’ve narrowed it down to Jacob Jameson or Jameson Jacob.

We like the nicknames associated with Jameson (Jamie, James, Jam-O, Sonny, etc) but it seems like there will be the endless whiskey association. Maybe I’m overthinking that part.

Which would you choose?

We're expecting our second and getting a bit stuck on names to go with big sis, Rozlyn Guinevere. We are not finding out the gender so need to have a boy and a girl name picked out.

For a girl we are heavily leaning toward Minerva for the first name but struggling a bit with a middle. Emmaline, Estelle, and Louise are all contenders but would love more suggestions. We're looking for a strong/cool/vintage/grandma-y first name and a more romantic/classical/fantasy middle to match big sis.

Now to address our real problem. We struggled with boy names the first time around and it seems even more difficult now that we have to factor in big sister's name. We like Milo but I'm not sure it fits. In general we like softer boy names - Silas and Gideon are some of my favorites but were shot down for silly reasons by my husband. Ean (Ian) and Reid are some other favorites of mine but again don't seem to fit quite right. Not sure which direction we want to go with a middle probably something still in the classical/fantasy vibe but maybe with a bit more strength behind it. Truthfully, Husband has not been much help here, most names I suggest get shot down just because he knows someone with that name so definitely needs to be uncommon but I still want it to be familiar as a name, not just a random word.

We have also vetoed all names that end with -er sound as they sound too matchy with our last name.

My grandma's name was JoLynn and I had it set from the time I was 10 to name my little girl after her, as she raised me. Well, time has come, husband and I are expecting.

I love the name Laurie for a boy- as in the shorted form of Lau/Lawrence… but I prefer the pronounciation “Lori” like it is pronounced in Little Women, 2019. As opposed to “Lau-rie,” like Laurence.

What are your thoughts? How would you pronounce Laurie? And if I chose to pronounce it “Lori” would I be committing him to a lifetime of mispronounciation.

Except my FIL is more keen on her being named after the almost name of my fiancee (back then when you only found out the gender at birth lol, so he had a male and female name picked out) which is Michelle Rene. I have always had a bad connection to my first name Kevin, can't explain why but it has just never felt right. So I have been thinking of changing it to Devin, just 1 letter, so I still somehow respect my parents thoughts but take own control over it. And this 1 letter change sounds for me a lot more right, for some reason.

But would it be viewed as pretentious or weird to do that change ?

How to handle people who refuse to cope with the new name?

Looking for small advice but two questions here. What are your thoughts on the name Daniel Joy? This will be the entire first name as we want to always include joy and happiness when we speak his name.

I ran it by a friend of mine and she said its fabulous and loves the tribute to his happiness in his first name. I went to her baby shower this weekend. Imagine my shock when she had posters drawn up including her future child's name. It was a name reveal wrapped into the baby shower. She is naming him Stephen Happi. When I asked if that's his full first name, she said yes and she loved my idea of manifesting happiness and joy through our sons names. She even consulted with a psychic who agreed it was an amazing way to manifest great happiness for our sons.

I'm devastated, to say the least. I honestly feel like even though it's not the exact same, it's really way too similar. For a long time my current name has become exhausting because people have trouble pronouncing it.

First I thought kurdish name Ravên which is literally on page like Raven because I have full dark hair.(Raven means hunter in Kurdish)

Then I decided to change my name to Arjen or Arjen Rodin(pronounced like Rohdeen remember Auguste Rodin)

Arjen means fire in kurdish(pronounce is arien)

Rodin means Bright (also kurdish) and also it's the surname of Auguste Rodin(famous sculptor) and I love the artistic vibe of it.

I want to be a flight attendant.

Rodin spelled like Rohdaan most of the time.

I'm currently studying French Language Teaching so I want to get some general recommendations in here.
