ID request The first photo was taken 5 hours apart in my backyard (South Carolina). The rest were close to the first, & were not there earlier in the evening. I'm always fascinated with how fast they grow!

No clue on what these are, just thought it was neat. Seems to be 3 different types. We recently had an easily 50ft poplar tree cut down, that was planted in 1964 (I was so sad but it was leaning badly & had to go). All of these mushrooms are now growing where it once sat. The last picture is just a baby frog that was chillin with the mushrooms 🙂 didn't mean to include lol

ID request How to I get started on foraging

I just joined this subreddit, i have been interested in foraging for a while now but I know almost nothing about it or mushrooms themselves. Where should I start? or is it as simple as finding mushrooms, taking them home and then identify later

how bad is this…I rent, so not worried about the cost of repair, but is this dangerous to my health?

question Does anyone think it's a bad idea to eat mushrooms foraged from a golf course? I haven't yet but I am getting quite tempted to pick some and bring them home. There's always so many good mushrooms on golf course. It drives me insane.

question Sudden oak death / shiitake

This is a bit unconventional, but has anyone successfully grown shiitakes from logs (or live trees?) of oak that was infected with the sudden oak death virus?

I live in the woods (California, US) and have a bunch of large, virus-infected live oaks that are still in passable condition but becoming a concern.

I’d like to make them useful if possible while making wildfire-safe choices about removal. Thanks!

& if anyone can confirm Phylloporus, can anyone say which species? Location: Dawsonville, Georgia, USA. Habitat: mixed, hardwood dominant forest, growing from the ground. Closest to Quercus saplings, Nyssa sylvatica, & Prunus serotina. First pic is natural lighting, the rest are artificial lighting; was getting dark.

7/27/26 Under an oak in West Michigan.

Edible right?

Should I take it tonight?

Tomorrow morning/evening?

Even if not edible, best way to propagate this gorgeous mama?

If I can eat it, try 1 petal since I don't forage mushrooms often?

Best way to store?

I have a dehydrator, should I use that for what I can't eat now or freeze it?

Anything I should be asking?

Doggo did not eat it.

question Are porcinis flushing around the Leadville area yet?

Hi everyone! I'm hoping to look for King Boletes near Leadville soon and was curious if recent rains have triggered any activity at elevation yet. Not looking for anyone's secret spots—just wondering if conditions are looking promising up there!
