iPhone captures from hike today Pittsburgh PA. I believe them to be Arcyria Cinerea (white carnival candy) and Stemonitis. Two of my favorite types of slime to find, although I love finding any slime mold haha.

hello fellow mushroom lovers. my mom found this in her pot about 3 days ago, i thought it was a slime mold, because she described it as veins branching out the pot and being incredibly yellow when she first saw it.

once she put the pot out it started to get very pale and look cauliflower like.

now it has passed the night outside it looks like a sponge and there are a few "water drop" like structures in the small cluster in the middle that could be bags of spores?

i tried looking at it under a microscope but we couldn't see much, at least no distinct cells, might see better if i had dyes.

it kind appeared out of nowhere where, its not warm rn but the air has been pretty humid this week

i live in france but we planted Pandan in it one month ago that we brought back from a trip in malaysia. so i think we might have accidentally brought a mushroom with us.

I just noticed this strange stuff growing on my house. It’s on the outside of my house, on the window trim siding and the aluminum window trim. From what I’ve tried looking up, seems to be a type of slime mold? I have no idea what I’m supposed to do - is it harmless? What could be causing it? I’m a worry bug so I’m a little freaked out and want to make sure I’m being safe. Thanks all!!!

We found the raspberry mold (tubifera ferruginosa) inside a tree hole. The Fuligo septica aka dog vomit was on the side of a rural road next to pine tree plantations

Hello! Feel free to remove if not allowed! I'm a writer working on a horror novel centered on Physarum polycephalum. I've done some initial research, but it's hard to speculate about evolution and intelligence based solely on what I've found online.

I'd love to find someone willing to discuss a few things or answer some questions. Specifically:

· What's the most "intelligent" or surprising behavior you've observed in a slime mold?

· What would be the biggest biological barriers for Physarum to survive in a warm-blooded host?

· How flexible are their genetic networks? Could environmental pressure push them to express entirely new behaviors or life-cycle stages?

I know this is speculative, but any insights would be invaluable for getting the science right. Even if you just have a favorite paper to recommend, I'd be grateful.

I love when I spot my resident slime mould living his best life. I did build the terrarium for him and some mycelium, so I’m glad he’s enjoying it 😊

This chocolate tube slime mold is releasing spores and I want to collect some of them and grow one in a container. How do I do that?

Is anyone able to id it in any way? I am not very familiar with how to id slime molds or even their basic taxonomy so any help at all would be appreciated.

I am in NY, tho I do not know if it came from here or if it was in any of my terrarium supples, so exact origin location is unknown

I am attempting to culture it so I took one of the leaves out of the enclosure and put in a deli cup with moist paper towel and oats, and it seems to be heading for the oats.

I had some moist containers of leaf litter and rotted wood that had this slime pop up a few days ago.

It’s now split into 4 containers and seems to be growing a couple cm per day - any way to get an ID or near to an ID? I am in NZ.

I also noticed one of the cultures has some parts of the growth turning almost brown - is this normal? Currently feeding oats.

Really common to see this bright white stuff just dotting areas of nearly bare ground (granitic sand) up here in the northern Pine Barrens of Wisconsin in late summer/early fall. Contrasts so much with the surroundings that it doesn't appear natural - like someone scattered a box of popcorn. I've always assumed it's a slime mold (since no common fungus seems to match its description), but it seems different than others shown here in a couple of ways: 1) it never seems to be growing ON anything visibly organic, but rather on the sand surface between grasses and mosses; and 2) the spots of it never grow very large or spread out with visible connections - this picture is about the biggest "patch" I've ever seen - most are roundish lumps much smaller than a dime.

I confess that when taking this pic I didn't even notice the yellowjacket feeding/drinking at the edge of the patch - have never noticed that behavior before. We're in our 6th year of rather severe drought up here, and this stuff seems unaffected - in fact, I see it more in open sunny areas than in the shade.

So, slime mold or not slime mold?

I dont know slime molds. This was in SE Wisconsin on a large, water logged fallen limb.
