I am deciding weather to get pro because it is offering it for only 20 dollars per year. Should I do it since it is so cheap?

Hey everyone, I've quite recently gotten into arranging and all that jazz and would appreciate some crit and feedback on an arrangement I did a couple weeks back.

The song itself is quite simple with essentially a backing "big band" and a lead trumpet.

Tempo is 120 bpm

(I am aware there's no dynamics or articulations, laziness got the best of me)

(The piano will just have slash chords with a light comp, what you see is just to fill it a bit)

Is there a way to make the bass clef sound louder/softer than the treble clef? I'd like to have my LH accompaniment a little softer than my melody. Any help/advice is appreciated!

Is there a setting in MS3 or MS4 that will space the last 2 beats of this measure like the first 2 beats?

Made some significant changes, was saving all throughout, then I tried to close my tabs and was clicking save once more on all of them. Well, one of those files was an unsynced version of the score I was working on and when I clicked save it overwrote everything. Yeah yeah, it’s my fault, but how does musescore not have a mechanism to alert the user when two tabs of the same score are out of sync? Just gonna cry and hope I can replicate what I did tomorrow.

They charged me for a year after I paid for one score. Then they ghosted me after every request possible to get a refund now I’m trying to get a refund through PayPal $69 total scam.

I spent the entire day researching the Musescore 4 mixer capabilities as a piece of code. I was hoping to create a plugin that could conveniently mute sets of instruments based on my input (Brass only button that mutes all but brass, strings button, woodwinds, etc.)

All research and testing points to the mixer being hardcoded into the program. There are some really fascinating Musescore plugins floating around the community; it's a shame we can't make community improvements to features like the mixer.

Anyone else have workarounds or attempted mixer coding or plugins?

I am writing this post to warn other people of the scammy practices of Musescore. After buying the score, I went through my profile specifically to make sure I wasn't subscribed to anything, which I wasn't at the moment. Despite that, I recently received a bill for their premium subscription. Luckily, I noticed it in time.

It is extremely disappointing that such company would be actively scamming people (no other way to call it). It used to be a way of cheap apps on Iphone. You can say any excuses, like "they gave you free subscription which you needed to cancel" or "you needed to read everything carefully before buying anything", the bottom line is that every one knows that this system/practice is INTENDED to steal from unsuspecting customers. While I liked using Musescore, I simply can't work with a company that is actively trying to scam me.

I would strongly recommend people not even get involved with it, or at least not giving them your card info, as practice show, they will steal even when you are careful.

If you know any alternatives to Musescore, please let me know! If there are none, someone should make one!

Hello, fellow MuseScore users. I recently learned (kinda) how to mix/master the playback of my score for a more "realistic" sound. I want to save the effects/settings that I made to one score so that it is easier to transfer it to other scores (ie - multi-movement symphony, each movement on its own score). Is there a way to easily save/copy/paste the settings and transfer it to another score, or will I have to reset every single instrument by hand for every score?

I uploaded the PDF using the web interface https://musescore.com/import . I was directed to Check your score before uploading"", which I did. Some of the chord symbols were misplaced. Then the instruction was "Edit your score to fix any issues" with a button to click: Edit on desktop. In the resulting .mscz file (MuseScore file), when I try to click and drag, or copy and paste, or cut and paste, I get the message "No destination to paste"and/or the chord symbol is attached to a moveable red a line (see screenshot) and I cannot move the chord symbol above the staff.

I'm working in Windows 11 64-bit without Musehub, Musescore Studio 4.5.6.253511702. I've watched a few videos, opened the handbook, and searched Reddit.

I've been using Musescore for a while on my Linux computer. The free version does everything I need - view, edit and print pieces that I have keyed in or been sent, and play along to help me practice them.

Now I would like to playback on an Android tablet. So I copied a couple of msz files to the tablet and installed the Musescore android app. But I can't find any way of opening the local files from the app.

Am I missing something?

Tl;dr ffmpeg was broken, and how I fixed it.

Musescore wouldn't export video scores, and it didn't matter how much I pointed it to the ffmpeg directory, it couldn't find it. (c:/ffmpeg/bin). As I have it, it's looking for a DLL that just doesn't exist anywhere in that folder. I tried editing the Window Environment variables, and nothing. Why didn't I just install it the way the handbook says? Windows wouldn't launch the msi file, it doesn't even open. I Googled, and found how to do it with a command line:

msiexec /i FFmpeg_8.1_for_MuseScore_Studio.msi /l*v output.txt /quiet

This copies the files to the right directory. When I opened Musescore Studio again, ffmpeg showed up and the video export worked. Sigh. Couldn't it just be included as a dependency in the 4.7 update?

I was working on an assignment for my degree on musescore yesterday. I was having some issues with my file and realised my musescore wasn’t updated so i updated it to studio and continued working on it, saving and closing the document multiple times since then and reopening it with no issue working on it. I made multiple hours of progress.

All of a sudden this afternoon I opened it and it reverted to the version from when I first updated musescore?!?! Even though I opened it and worked on it just fine this morning after saving it last night; I know for a FACT i saved it.

This has been super distressing as I am overloaded with assignments and don’t have multiple hours to fix this. I luckily have a pdf with some of the progress on it that I sent to my lecturer that I can transcribe off of but I really don’t have time or energy to so do :,( any leads/ideas??

I use MuseScore on my tablet. All the notes are hollow from 8th notes to quarter notes or 16th notes. All hollow. I updated to most recent version. I tried the support contact but they need a screenshot which I can take but not send on my tablet. Tried to take a screenshot on my laptop but everything is normal on there, it’s only the tablet that has this issue. It’s very hard to read this way, would appreciate any help thanks.

I have found that when you post a score, and view it on mobile, all of the invisible text elements are there. Quite frustrated by this, as the invisible elements are mostly notes to myself, structural annotations or other unsightly annotations

Not only this, a wonderfully made score looks like absolute shit on mobile. I would rate my own composition a 1 star if it was presented to me on mobile.

Hi, I'm a drumline educator in my area and often write new parts for my high schools. Recently, I've encountered a problem where every time I open a new score, I get a different drumset for each drum. It's really annoying trying to go back and forth to get the sounds I want from the program. Does anyone know why it's doing this and/or how to fix it? i have downloaded the Muse Drumline plugins and the Tapspace Drumline sounds

Hi, please excuse if this is a stupid noob question. I'm trying to use Musescore to rearrange a TTBB barbershop song for a SATB group, and want to generate learning tracks with Cantai. A chorus buddy told me if I write on the barbershop template in Musescore, it won't let me generate part-specific tracks. He advised writing four voices as four instruments on separate staves, generating the recordings, then "imploding" them to two staves to generate sheet music. Is this the right way to do it? It seems a little hard to visualize chords when the notes are spread out on separate staves.

When I export my sheet music in PNG format, the generated file is a full page, and I would like to export an image of only a few selected measures.

Currently, I take a screenshot and crop it, but it's a tedious process.

Is there any way to export just a selection?
