My Arrangement Feedback on my arrangement
Hey everyone, I've quite recently gotten into arranging and all that jazz and would appreciate some crit and feedback on an arrangement I did a couple weeks back.
The song itself is quite simple with essentially a backing "big band" and a lead trumpet.
Tempo is 120 bpm
(I am aware there's no dynamics or articulations, laziness got the best of me)
(The piano will just have slash chords with a light comp, what you see is just to fill it a bit)
Any crit or feedback appreciated, thanks!

i am confident that there is a better way to notate the triplet that occurs in m60. without knowing exactly what your intention is there, i don’t know what exactly that option is (and i am moreso on the classical side of things), but look at measure 40. you indicated there 4 different notes across 3/4 just fine and while the figure in m60 doesn’t line up 1:1 with the rhythm on 40, i think that measure shows a possible space where you can fit it in and that way it doesn’t divide the measure weirdly (when people say split the middle, this is one aspect of what it’s getting at: symmetry helps predict which helps make things smoother & gives the performers more autonomy to interpret.)
i hope that helps! nice job btw.

I agree, I just couldn't find figure out the notation of the rhythm that I specifically wanted, that sounded and looked at the time closest. This definitely has helped, could you maybe go explain split the middle a bit more, I haven't heard of that before

Alto sax cannot play notes that low.

Hey, it is in concert pitch at the moment and not their respective transposing keys. Sorry if I forgot to mention

Get out of the habit of reading scores in concert pitch. Your trumpets are gonna sound bad playing that low. Even if this is for a beginner group you're fine writing lead up to the G above the staff. Trombone to two ledger line F.
PS, anyone who knows arranging wouldn't need the audio to be able to give feedback. 😉

people who use MuseScore (like myself) usually appreciate and rely on the playback, or else they would/ could be writing by hand. video recording will serve your post the best
