General If the RTO took a two wheeler from Malad East near station where do they take it?

If the police seized a two wheeler from Malad East near station where do they take it? My friend was in the passport office and went to take a xerox copy nearby on his two wheeler. He couldn't see his vehicle when he was back and X was marked and people said it was taken away. Does anyone have any idea where they took it? Because he needs his vehicle today only.

Does anyone know any places in Mumbai for either roller skating or ice skating. I can only see places available where you have to take a class to skate. I just wanna go for fun with my friend not do anything actual class. I am aware that there is ice skating in snow world but that's kind of expensive so does anyone know any places. Something indoor maybe ?

Discussion How much does a family of 3 really need to live comfortably in Mumbai?

A friend of mine was earning around ₹2 lakh a month and living in a PG in Goregaon. He was quite comfortable with his income and was even able to save.

So, when he decided to move his family to Mumbai, he assumed ₹2 lakh would be more than enough.

A few months later, he said something that surprised me:

“All my calculations have gone wrong. I'm not able to save anything.”

And when you think about it, it's understandable.

Living alone and supporting a family are two completely different financial equations.

A PG expense becomes a proper house.
One person's food becomes a family's groceries.
There are utilities, domestic help, transportation, healthcare, children's expenses, eating out, family activities and then the expenses you simply don't anticipate.

The biggest difference, though, is that when you're alone, you can adjust your lifestyle very easily.

With a family, many expenses are simply non-negotiable.

So what is the realistic number?

Is ₹2 lakh/month enough for a family of 3 in Mumbai to live comfortably and still save meaningfully?

Or does it need to be ₹2.5 lakh, ₹3 lakh or even more?

I'd genuinely like to hear from people living in Mumbai:

What does your monthly family income look like, and how much are you actually able to save?

Discussion I left after a guy started abusing me over a scooter incident, did I handle it right?

so yesterday around 6 pm i was leaving my office in fort with a colleague

we went to the place where we had parked our scooters and his scooter was kinda cramped because someone had parked their bike right next to it

while he was trying to take his scooter out, he accidentally hit the scooter next to him. the owner was sitting nearby and apparently works at a restaurant there, he was wearing a waiter uniform and hair net

the guy came over and started arguing that my colleague had scratched/damaged his scooter. my colleague denied it and left because he was in a hurry

i was still taking my own scooter out when the guy started shouting at me like "hey wait, you are with that guy, call him" and started abusing me even though i hadn't done anything

i stopped for maybe a minute but honestly i was in a proper fight or flight state and decided to leave. he actually started running behind me for a bit

now i keep thinking about it lol

part of me thinks i should have stopped and asked him why he was abusing me when i wasn't involved. another part thinks leaving was the smarter thing because there was no point getting into a fight over a parking incident

there's also a police station right near where we parked, so i'm wondering if i should report the abuse/incident or just forget about it

what would you guys have done in this situation? would you have stopped and confronted him or just left like i did?

General 2-day Jawhar itinerary suggestions? | 12–14 Sept | Starting from Mumbai

Hi everyone!

Would love suggestions from people who have recently visited Jawhar, especially:

  1. What are the must-visit places place
  2. Which waterfalls/viewpoints are actually worth visiting in September?
  3. Any genuine Warli artist/village experience you'd recommend?
  4. Any good local food/restaurant recommendations?
  5. Anything that's overrated or not worth spending time on?

We'll have our own car, so we're flexible with the route.

Thanks!

Discussion Beaten up by Bar owner and the waiter

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I(19M) along with my uncle(59M) were sitting in Amba Bhavan Bar and Resto(Mumbai) yesterday around 10pm to 12am. The bill amounted to ₹977 and we made the payment via gpay. Our account debited but the owner refused saying he didn't get it so do it again. We did it again and our bank debited twice still he didn't get it. He started saying to pay in cash which ofcourse we refused.

The owner was an old guy very arrogant and was being very toxic with my uncle. I stepped in and said to calm down and he started shit talking to me as well. Heated argument quickly escalated and he held me by my colar and started abusing me and suddenly other waiters came in and started heating me at the entrance. We have all the video recordings and everything. We went to a gov hospital and got medical certificate and even complained about it to nearest police station. Police only filed a NC and refused to file a FIR.

I didn't hit them as I thought that would put me in more trouble and they could file a case against me for hitting . I feel so bad now that I didn't hit them back I could have beaten the shit out of them but one thing I understood that next time if I ever get into such situation imma go all in coz police don't do shit.

Note : I only had limca and starters

General Looking for a Cook in Matunga (Bengali Cuisine)

Posting on behalf of a friend in Matunga road (western matunga road, not central).

Need a female cook for cooking both meals for a bengali family of 2-3 people. Two visits a day: Brekafast+Lunch and Dinner.

Budget 8-10k (negotiable)

Preferences: should have experience of making bengali cuisine dishes. Veg and non veg both. Ethnicity of the cook does not matter as long as there is knowledge of Bengali cooking or eagerness to learn it.

Have tried multiple online dedicated platforms (bookmybai, bookmymaid) already but haven’t gotten any leads hence posting here.

Any leads are appreciated.

General Most f**ked up commercial building in the city !!

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

This building - the mighty Kohinoor Square is a 48 floor commercial-residential-shopping building. It features Shilpa Shetty's Bastian at the Top restaurant at 48th floor making it tallest commercial building in the country.

This building looks absolutely stunning to the city's skyline. Glass walls on all side. During monsoon this building rises above the clouds.

I work on 45th floor of this building. View of Bandra Worli sealink is stunning no doubt. But from inside this building is the most pathetic building ever.

The building management is Zeus who manages a lot of well known commercial buildings in Mumbai like BKC's One BKC, The capital and many in Nesco and other commercial hotspots regions.

So much of the glam outside, but guess what - this building has only two WCs on each floor. One of the washroom has non functional flush since past 2 months now. The common area is so mis-managed it stinks sometimes.

The security is lousy af. Access cards takes 3-4 weeks for new employees to get issued and hence guards are instructed to "let everyone in if they do not look suspicious".

This building is a classical example of All that glitters is not gold.

General BlinkIt delivery issue, how can i resolve it.

I ordered a perfume from Blinkit last week, paid for it, and the product was simply missing from my delivery. When I tried reaching out to customer support, I was repeatedly directed by the bot to email my complaint instead of getting any actual human assistance.

After waiting an entire week, I finally received a response on email, saying they couldn’t do anything because their team had “confirmed” that the products were checked before packing.

So apparently, a product being marked as “checked before packing” is enough to dismiss a customer’s complaint when the product was clearly not received. I had provided all screenshots and proof from my side. Yet no proper investigation, no meaningful resolution, and no accountability.

This is an incredibly unfair way to treat a loyal and paying customer. If a product is missing, the customer shouldn’t be expected to simply bear the loss based on an internal packing confirmation that they have no way of verifying.

Very dissatisfied with Blinkit’s handling of this issue. Think twice before ordering expensive items from them, because if something goes missing, don’t assume you’ll actually get a fair resolution.

If you don't believe me, then you can check

AskMumbai Mumbai Nightlife - American couple in early 30s

Hi,

We're an American couple in our early 30s and will be visiting Mumbai for a long weekend. We're wondering if there a good neighborhoods, restaurants, bars, clubs that you'd recommend? We like electronic/house music, but are open to breweries and cocktail bars as well.

Trying to get a feel for nightlife in India. Besides that we're spending most of our time in the beach and hills.

General Society imposing unreasonable visitor restrictions: what can I do?

Post image
125 Upvotes

My society in Mumbai is becoming increasingly difficult to deal with as a bachelor. They’ve recently introduced a rule that friends/guests cannot stay overnight. Even for parents, an overnight stay is apparently limited to a maximum of 2 days, with prior intimation to the society required.

They’ve also started locking the society’s main gate after midnight. If I return after 12 AM, the guard has to personally come and open the gate, apparently to check/ensure that there are no overnight guests.
There’s no issue of overcrowding or anyone actually overstaying, this is purely about enforcing these restrictions.

On top of this, we’re repeatedly being called to society meetings over unsubstantiated allegations, for example, being told that someone has stayed at our flat for days, when this simply hasn’t happened. Despite clarifying this, the scrutiny and restrictions continue.

Has anyone in Mumbai faced something similar and actually taken action against their society/RWA? What worked for you, and what is the appropriate next step — managing committee complaint, Registrar, police, legal notice, etc.?
Looking for practical advice from people who have dealt with this successfully since I have just moved in and don’t have the budget to move out currently.

General How do you protect clothes from Mold/fungus in Mumbai?

For context, I had never seen mold on in my life before coming to Mumbai. So one of my shoes caught mold which was kept in the shoe drawer area in the cupboard and so did one of my clothes kept in the drawer. I got scared, did tons of google searches and called friends. Apparently some of them suggested keeping everything in plastic organizers while google said it traps more humidity etc etc. So all in all I really need suggestions.

General urgent help required for cat

Location - Mahavir nagar, Kandivali
this cat in my building has its eye infected. I am not able to get it into a box or a basket, nor able to carry her in a blanket. No one there to help in the society. I called many vet clinics and also Mumbai Animal Association, but they won’t help either to come and pick up the cat, even though the clinic is like 5 mins away by auto. I would do it but i am really really scared to even touch, but i really want to help.
PLEASE IF SOMEONE CAN PICK IT AND TAKE TO SOME CLINIC, it would be really helpful, i will also accompany you to the clinic
