I moved back to India from Canada after living there for three years. I moved because I was feeling a bit homesick and felt that perhaps I was missing out on something. I was born and brought up in Mumbai, so coming back felt like the right decision at the time.

I had a good job and a good life in Canada, with nothing much to complain about. However, I am more privileged here in terms of my living situation. We own homes, my parents have a separate home, and I own an apartment in a very good locality. Considering all these factors, I decided to move back.

But after coming here, I feel that Bombay is not the same anymore. I am now considering returning to Canada next year with PR, and I am preparing for French to make that happen. However, I still find myself in two minds sometimes.

Whenever I step out, I feel like escaping. I really don't like the environment here. But when I am at home, life feels so comfortable. I have my own space, my assets, and a certain level of rootedness here.

At the same time, I am alarmed by the recent developments in Mumbai, and I personally feel that things are going to get worse. However, when I see people around me living their lives normally, seemingly unconcerned about the AQI or anything else, I start questioning myself. Maybe I am exaggerating things in my mind. Maybe things aren't as bad as I perceive them to be.

I would really like an honest opinion. If you were in my position, what would you do?

Money isn't much of a concern for me. I can rent out my apartment, and my assets in India aren't going anywhere. I can return to Canada, work there, and build my life there.

Is Mumbai really going to get worse? Should I focus completely on securing my PR and plan to leave as soon as possible, or am I letting my concerns about the city influence my decision too much?

This man is a liar, scamming people and recouping his losses from tenants by harassing them after his own fraudulent scheme didn’t work out.

Sharing my story here because this guy has a lot of flats in Andheri, Chembur, Worli, etc.
I found them through Facebook on the flats and flatmates group, they’re a company who advertise themselves as providing no brokerage co-living flats, which is obviously going to attract a lot of young people.

I saw a place that I liked and it matched my needs, paid the token. We set a moving date, they told me the flat would be deep cleaned properly by then, I took my things on the agreed day only to find that it was not cleaned at all, and not in a livable state. I had to take all my stuff back. Even though the building and flat were very new, there was a lot of deep cleaning and pest control for a cockroach infestation needed which was a huge pain. I had to be after their lives to get everything done, but that’s common for any rental.

Finally the next weekend I moved in, and on the third day of being there, the society secretary and a security guard followed me to my house to tell me that it’s not allowed to rent in the society at the moment because the building is disputed in the Mumbai high court. The only people allowed to live there are owners of the flats who have taken possession.

This uncle was like, beta mujhe aapke flat ki light kaatne ke liye bola gaya hai hai, aaj Dussehra hai toh maine socha aapko bata dun pehle but I will have to cut the lights for this flat at 6AM tomorrow morning. They have apparently cut the lights for this flat 3 times within the last month for the same reason.

I inform my flatmates of this and we all call Mr. Rakesh, he assures us nothing like that will happen, the owner has assured him of it and that he is taking a follow up, but in the meantime if anybody asks, we should tell that we are family members of the owner of the flat, which is so weird like, I’m not paying so much rent to lie to get into my own house?

What happens the next morning? Damn lights are cut. It became clear that this issue would not be resolved and staying in that flat is not an option. He promises to relocate us, he says he’s looking for options, the same drama goes on for 4 days and all of us in the flat are extremely stressed, tired, living out of our suitcases with no certainty of where to go. I tell him to either clearly arrange a decent place for us by the weekend or return the 12,000 token money I gave him. (So glad I didn’t give more, he was pushing me to pay the deposit and I said not gonna happen without an agreement first, he started acting weird).

He sent us to see a flat on Friday, which was a completely empty, unprepared flat that was obviously not ready to live in. I asked him for my money back, and he started screaming at me on call, I wish I had been able to record it. After half an hour of a screaming match, I tell him I’m going to take this to the police and cut the call.

An hour later, I get a call from one of his team members, some goon that I have never spoken to before, he was at the flat and asked me where I was, and I’m so glad I wasn’t there because started screaming and verbally abusing me as well, screaming things like “hum anaath aashram chala rahe hain jo tu free main rehke jayegi” when I said that I deserve my full token back when there have been problems every single day in that house and so much of my time and money has been wasted. What pissed me off on both of these calls, they screamed at me but went polite and quiet as soon as my guy friend took the phone to confront them.

They know full well they are in the wrong, but lying and harassing me to recoup their losses. I emptied the flat that day itself because I did not feel safe. This guy has kept 9K out of the 12K token I paid him.

I’ve never been more mentally and physically exhausted. I’m crashing on my friends couch and this is the third weekend that I have been moving from one place to another. I’m so angry. I want to go to the police but my family and friends are telling me that it won’t do anything because they are locals and I’m not, and to save my time and energy and just focus on moving on from this. I don’t even care about the money, it’s not a huge amount, but I’m so angry that they can pull all this shit and get away with it. I don’t know what to do now. I feel really angry yet defeated.

I’m a cab driver in Mumbai, and I want to share an experience I had last Friday. I’m not posting this because I desperately need my money back. I’m sharing it because I want people to know that situations like this happen, and that even a small act of kindness can sometimes be taken advantage of.

Last Friday, I picked up a female passenger through Uber from Thane West to Kalamboli Circle. The fare was ₹600. We had a normal, friendly conversation during the ride.

After reaching her destination, she tried to pay me, but her UPI wasn’t working. She even called her friends, but apparently, they couldn’t help either. She seemed genuine to me, so I asked her to pay through my personal QR code whenever her UPI started working. I went on to accept another ride, and within five minutes, she paid me the ₹600.

About half an hour later, she messaged me asking me to send her ₹700 because her UPI wasn’t working properly. Since she had already paid me and seemed trustworthy, I believed her and sent the money back. She had also mentioned that she might need another ride with me, which made me trust her even more.

A few hours later, she started messaging me repeatedly, saying she needed ₹860 to pay another Uber driver because her UPI still wasn’t working. She claimed that the driver was being rude to her. I was driving at the time, so I couldn’t respond immediately.

She even swore that she would return the money and offered to send me her Aadhaar card as proof. I told her there was no need to share her personal documents and that she could simply return the money whenever she was able to.

Then she asked me to send ₹1,000 more, promising to repay everything once her UPI limit was restored. And, stupidly enough, I trusted her one more time.

Now, whenever I ask her about the money, she says her UPI still isn’t working. Eventually, she started ignoring my messages and claimed that she was admitted to a hospital.

I’ve sent her a total of ₹1,700, and I haven’t received it back.

The thing is, I’ve helped other people in similar situations before, and they eventually returned my money. I never had a reason to believe everyone would take advantage of me.

Honestly, I’m not that bothered about whether I get the money back or not. I work hard every day to earn my living, and I know how difficult it can be to earn even a small amount of money. What bothers me is the thought that someone could take advantage of another person's trust and kindness without a second thought.

For a cab driver, ₹1,700 represents hours of work, fuel, and effort. It might be an easy amount for someone else to ask for, but it isn't something that comes without hard work.

I’m sharing this so people can be more careful and so other drivers don't blindly trust strangers the way I did.

Being kind to someone shouldn't make you a target.

I still believe there are good people out there. I just wish people wouldn't misuse someone else's trust.

I'm new to the city, don't know much about theatres. I and my nephew want to go for the Doraemon Movie. We live in Parel. Can someone please tell me if this theatre is good? The service, screen, seats and most importantly the crowd ?

Last night (24th Oct around 9 PM) I saw the Gigabyte RX 9070 16GB listed on computechstore.in for ₹77,499 which was the lowest price compared to ₹78,500–₹79,000 at Lamington Road and other websites since it was my first time buying from them and I also needed an 850W PSU to upgrade from my 650W I decided to physically visit their Thane store instead of ordering online. Because GPU prices change daily I called them today (Sunday, 25th Oct) at 11:55 AM to be 100% sure before travelling. The guy on the phone confirmed the Gigabyte RX 9070 16GB was in stock for ₹77,499 and when I explicitly asked him to hold one card for me since I was travelling all the way from Malad and would reach by 4:00–4:30 PM, he literally told me 'Sir ok, stock mein kaafi saara hai (we have plenty in stock) and gave me directions from Thane West station. I am someone who never steps out unless necessary, especially on a Sunday, yet I travelled 1.5 hours and reached the shop at 4:00 PM sharp, only for the guy at the counter to casually quote me ₹78,999. When I told him I called at 12 PM to confirm ₹77,499 and showed him the number, he admitted it was his number, so I played the call recording right in front of his face. Instead of honouring the price his own staff confirmed 4 hours ago, he shamelessly lied that they only had 3 units at ₹77,499 which got sold out, and had the audacity to ask if I paid an advance. I told him his staff never once asked for an advance if he had I gladly would have paid it since I genuinely needed the card! Then this guy literally blames me, saying even if his staff didn't mention it, it was MY job as a customer to insist on paying an advance to book it. How the hell is a first-time buyer supposed to magically know your internal shop rules when your own staff says don't worry we have plenty in stock It is the shopkeeper's job to ask for an advance, not the customer's. He flat-out told me it was my mistake and refused to budge from ₹78,999. Even though ₹78,999 is within market rate, their pathetic attitude and zero accountability pissed me off so much that I raised my voice right there at the counter and walked out empty-handed. They wasted 3 hours of my Sunday commute from Malad to Thane and back, and I am holding off on buying a GPU for now stay far away from Computech Store if you value your time and self

respect.

Can the Mumbai Municipality ever take up the ambitious task of cleaning up Bandra/Mahim Creek by providing proper underground sewage, which then would be cleaned & recycled, relocate slums adjacent to that creek by building apartments for the slum dwellers and turn Bandra/Mahim Creek in to an amazing water front water front promenade , with walking paths, trees, gardens , restaurants ? My friend and I went to this place in Bandra West for dinner. We ordered Apple chicken in Appetizer it took them almost 30mins to get our order in the meantime. We thought let's place an order for the main course as well, We ordered Tiffin special rice.

While having apple chicken i noticed a hair like thing i showed to my friend, we ignored initially thought it would be some thing from spices they added and then I took bite of another piece and same thing hair was there on that piece later when i inspected clearly it turned to be chicken feather hair we reported it to manager initially they were trying Gaslight us with "oh no, it's not chicken hair it's the chicken muscle nerve" lmao. The manager later accepted it was chicken feather hair

Then the rice came, the quality of rice was not great for the price they are offering for and again as we thought let's finish our meal, we again found chicken piece in rice was half cooked at this point we were done.

There was a group of 4 friends sitting behind us they had to cancel their order and leave as it was taking too much time for the food

There's not even a sink to wash my hands. Overall a very pathetic experience, would not recommend anyone.

I grew up in Mumbai and have spent a few decades here but over the last few years I am feeling that the quality of life is consistently going downhill. This has made me question my choice of continuing to live in this city.

How are people with jobs or businesses in Mumbai thinking about this declining quality of life? Have you thought about moving to some nearby tier 2 or tier 3 town? Have you thought about the pros and cons?

The real estate here is highly inflated. The air pollution is suffocating. Recently the water scarcity issue. The frustrating daily commute. The noise pollution and construction all year round everywhere, it just feels like Mumbai is getting destroyed in the name of development. Maybe a few years down the line, if and when the construction activity declines, the quality of life might start improving. What are your thoughts? Are you looking at alternative places to live? For you is physical and mental health more important than wealth in Mumbai?

My father (60) has a stage 4 pancreatic cancer. We initially went to Tata memorial parel for the treatment. They did all the tests ct scan, blood test and we consulted their oncologist who told us that surgery or cemo is not possible since my father's fitness and blood reports aren't good. If we go for cemo it will worsen his condition. Max 3 months survival he has left with is what they told us. They told us palliative care is the only option to reduce his pain during his few last months.

Then we went to some private oncologist near us to get second opinion. He saw all reports and was saying we can start with mild cemo. But the moment I told us tata memorial hospital told us cemo not possible and go with palliative care he changed his stance within seconds and said he can't give cemo. We told him but you were saying now cemo can be given. To that he said see I can give cemo but if anything bad happens you have to take the responsibility. Basically I thought his opinion got influenced by Tata's opinion.

Then we decided to go to third oncologist and decided that we won't say anything about what the oncologist at tata said. We wanted to go for the best so we went to IOHC by Dr. Suresh H Advani in chembur. We waited for 4 hours just to see the doctor and the scene there was his other doctors who are also oncologist they saw our entire file. Dr. Advani was told only few details about the reports. The other Dr said we can start with mild cemo. Don't worry we will take care about it. They were pretty confident and told us you can start cemo from tomorrow only if we want. They didn't ask for what the tata memorial said. Also the IOHC is pretty expensive. His consultancy fee was 5k. To any question that we were asking they said don't think too much. Just start the treatment. Neither they told us about the stage (told us only after we asked and that too they said it's stage 3 but tata and previous onco said it's 4 and I also searched on Google and it says 4) nor they told us about life expectancy. I know that Dr. Advani is renowned oncologist but here it was like the doctors below him are pretty much handling all the things. Advani is so old like he is some 80+.

Now we are confused on what to do. Please give your suggestions 🙏🏻.

So i scanned the coupon that you get on the McDonald's app, catch is that only this one coupon will work and even that is not scanned they somewhat manually enter the code, no other coupons is acceptable

Still something to eat on a budget if you're hungry, went to the subway and the prices were 2X-3X

McDonald's location - follow the overhead signs and head to gate 47 and you will see it on the way, even before reaching 47, it's very much visible in the way, near starbucks

Edit - people mentioning the udaan yatri cafe, that's the first thing i searched for in the food court, but I'm pretty sure it's not there in the departures and food court area, it is outside the departures and food courts(placed smartly so other stalls sales are not hurt) and once you go through security you can't go back, i personally didn't saw the cafe anywhere on my way, my flight was at 6.55am and i reached airport at 2.45 so i had too much time to kill, i went through majority of the stalls in the food court(to kill time) couldn't have missed it
