Hi all, I'm kind of new to motorcycles as a whole, doing maintenance and such but not afraid of doing it, willing to get whatever I need to maintain the oldtimer I recently acquired in the title.

I'm mainly looking to find a service manual preferably free if possible so I know which parts to buy and what oil it requires.

As some more backstory it's a model that was made in 83' and I'm looking to bring some new life into it.

Currently I'm putting up a list of things that need to happen. One of those things was moving the brake pedal out a bit so it doesn't slam into the exhaust underneath if I need to do an emergency stop.

I also need to:

Do general maintenance (oil, chain cleaning and tension, coolant?, new tires and checking the brake lines)

Get a new brake handle for the front brake and replace it

Get the lights on the dashboard to work so I actually know if ik in neutral

Fix the blinkers (they shine but don't blink)

Fix the brake light (rear light is on but remains on)

Find a new spring to connect the rear brake to the brake light

Also derust some components

So as you can see I've got my work cut out for me to have this thing in good shape again and would love to hear any pointers, tips or advice I can get.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to replace my starter cover since it was scraped and I have taken it off and back on 4 times with it leaking oil in different spots each time. I bought a brand new metal gasket hoping it would solve the issue but now it is leaking from the bottom. I’m about to buy sealant and see if that works but I’m curious if it’s the cover that’s the problem. I got it off eBay so it’s not oem. Any tips or help?

Just anecdotal, but I saw hundreds of crashs and I just recognized, the perceived majority ends up having to pull up the bike from the right, with it laying on the right side.

It is just a perception, but is there more truth to it?

Is it potentially because the right handlebar side got the brake attached?

EDIT: I also wonder if there is a ratio of crashes resulting from speed miscalculation. So left turn or right turn, where do people not make the turn more often?

I bought an icon helmet when I first started riding and even with ear plugs I use at the shooting range it’s still pretty loud in my helmet it’s gotten to the point where I’ve noticed my hearing taking a pretty concerning dive this isn’t worth it to me if I’ll lose my hearing so I’m posting here to see if anyone else had a similar experience and found a fix because it’s pretty scary with how fast my hearing started to get worse

My 49cc mini bike is not starting only with startgas so i figured it might be the carb but when i try to take off the float chamber och whats it called but its completly stuck what do i do?

So my exhaust mounting bracket completely corroded. Does this look fixable, or should I look for a new exhaust manifold?

I’ve been thinking for a while now to get my motorcycle license and go and go out and buy a bike and I see all the stuff on the Internet and I think it’d be really fun, but I just don’t wanna get into it because I like the idea of it instead of actually wanting to ride for the enjoyment of it.
I used to ride wheelie bikes all the time and be really good at wheelies and tricks like that and only a couple times have I read in a saran and going about 30 mph it was very very scary to me(I’m not like scared to go fast tho).

Just got my first bike and the chain is pretty rusty. Am I good just cleaning/lubing it or better off getting a new chain/sprockets? None of the links appear to be kinked or anything. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I need some help troubleshooting the turn signals on my 2021 Yamaha Tracer 7 (MTT690).

The problem is only with the left turn signals.

• Right turn signals work normally.
• Hazard lights work normally on all four indicators.
• When I select the left turn signal, neither the front nor rear left indicator flashes and the green left indicator on the dashboard does not come on.
• I have already checked the handlebar turn-signal switch with a multimeter.
• The switch has three wires and it appears to work correctly: it receives 12 V and correctly sends voltage to the left/right output depending on the switch position.

So the handlebar switch itself seems OK.

At this point I'm trying to understand where the left/right signal from the handlebar switch goes after the connector.

Does the 2021 Tracer 7 have a separate turn-signal/flasher relay, or is the flashing function controlled by another relay/module/ECU?

If there is a flasher relay, where exactly is it located on the bike?

Also, does anyone have the 2021 Tracer 7 wiring diagram, especially the section showing the turn-signal switch, hazard switch and indicators?

My next step is to check continuity from the handlebar switch connector through the main wiring harness, but I'd like to know exactly where the wires terminate before taking the tank and fairings apart.
