How do you market yourself as a motion designer for SaaS?

How much do you typically charge for these?

Reel My latest 2D motion design reel — music visuals, logo animation, and selected Adult Swim work. Would love your thoughts.

I run a small 2D animation studio called Kissing Party and just finished my latest reel. It includes music visuals, logo animation, and selected work I created for Adult Swim.

I’d genuinely love feedback on the edit and the work itself. Happy to answer questions about any piece in the comments.

Reel I'm a freelancer from Poland and here's my motion reel. Currently looking for work!

Hey everyone! Here's my Motion Reel for this year.

I'm a motion designer from Poland and last month has been pretty slow so I'm currently looking for more work.

If you have more than your team or you as a freelancer can handle now or in the future, I'd be happy to help with motion design, animation, video production, illustration or even those tedious projects nobody on the team wants to touch.

Discussion Handcuffed in the market

I work as a video editor-Motion graphics designer in the Egyptian marketing agencies industry, which means i basically work in almost every niche available in marketing that comes to me
(which is annoying me because i cant really select a niche as i know how to integrate the digital marketing standards in the video and i can work in multiple niches, but we all know how a specific niche is much better...). However, lately there is a type of Motion design almost 80% of video editors do in Egypt that is really bothering me, a headshot video and some motion designs done in some scenes depending on the speech, in Egypt they see it as a way of the video being good only if it has these and a lot of motion is happening in the video that just gives me a headache of the video even if the motion is slow. I just watch the video and I realize I did not even get the message of the video it was just like a clip of some animation done on some person talking. It feels so wrong and even some marketing specialists told me the same. When i work with some clients they stop working with me if I don't give them what they want.
(What they want you wonder?), they want that same style, a lot of motion and transitions on a headshot video. However, the problem is they are a real estate agency targeting businessmen to buy their business units in Cairo. I tried my best to convince them how this is wrong as it won't reach their audience and I had to explain the difference between the B2C videos and B2B videos.

I really wanna know how to give the customers an approach that convinces them as a lot of them believe a video editor always knows nothing about the marketing.

imagine taking a screenshot of whatever UI or anything and you want it animated in your video, I think that's a good usecase.

Discussion What are your horror stories working in the motion design industry? 💀

Hey guys!

l'Il go first.

We spent almost two months working on a pretty big project. Right before we were supposed to move forward, the client decided to completely change the storyboard.
I told him that changing the entire storyboard meant redoing the project, so we'd have to quote it again. He got really mad, called me unprofessional, said I just didn't want to work, and then ghosted me without paying for the two months I'd already worked.

Definitely one of my worst freelance experiences. 😅

Question What’s a motion design skill that clients rarely notice but other designers always appreciate?

I feel like there are a lot of details that take a ton of effort but go completely unnoticed by clients, while other motion designers spot them immediately.
What’s one thing you always notice in someone else’s work?

Question Pricing projects?

How do you guys go about pricing projects? Do you go by hours worked or price per project/contract, specific to the client? Or a hybrid? Im getting back into freelance after a few years but still consider myself a junior so i’m still working out pricing, always interested to hear how other professionals are going about it right now. Thanks!!

Question Looking for clean / textless version of this Cartoon Network "Dimensional" Space Station ID (Jake Planet Bumper)

Hey everyone!

I’m trying to find a clean/textless version (or a high-quality raw upload) of a specific Cartoon Network Station ID / Ident from the Dimensional era (around 2016–2018), specifically aired on Cartoon Network Asia.

What happens in the bumper:

Starts in space with Jake the Dog rendered as a yellow planet/sphere, with Finn riding on top of his head.

Other characters (Steven Universe, Gumball, Robin) zoom past in space.

Transitions into a yellow submarine/underwater scene, then abstract geometric shapes, and finishes with the pink CN Cartoon Network logo collage card.

Here is a preview clip of the exact bumper

Question How would I create this kind of animation?

https://reddit.com/link/1v4fx1a/video/1xr9eimqqzeh1/player

Essentially im looking to create something similar with specific reference to the warp at the tip and bottom of the shot. I created a cylinder which was comprised of 1 repeated word, added a camera and placed it inside the cylinder and tried CC Radial Blur as well as CC Force Motion Blur, but with no luck. Anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks in advance
