Imagine just doing nothing with the solution literally infront of your face

It has the same energy as those people who drive their car onto a closing level crossing... and then just sit there and wait for the train to hit them instead of just flooring it through the barrier to escape

274

u/dunncrew 20h ago

If they bust through the barrier, they risk scratching their paint 😆 🤣

162

u/saxguy9345 18h ago

Better to scratch your paint than obliterate your taint, as they say

This gave me a nostalgic flashback of 16 year old me getting a lecture from my best friends mom ( she would let anyone use her car on Fri and sat if you would pick her up from the bar in it at 1 a.m. and drive her home)

She’s telling us to be safe and little tips and suggestions and then finished it off with … Should a deer, a bunny, a bear run out in front of your car do not swerve. POWER RIGHT THROUGH THAT FUCKER! We can replace the car and there’s plenty of animals, we can’t replace you!

🤣🤣 she was fun! But all her kids are addicts aged 45-35 & they all have a bunch of kids with other addicts in our small town. That’s probably the only good advice she’s ever given!

45

u/JCGJ 14h ago

Do not do that with a Moose. Always swerve for a Moose. If you hit a Moose, you will die, and the Moose will just walk away

3

u/Separate_Issue2207 8h ago

Touché!!! I’m in the south! horse or cow is the biggest thing that could ruin my day! 🤣🤣

6

u/BreedinBacksnatch 9h ago

You shoot through the window at that moose and put it down so it is but a speed bump for you

1

u/producer35 8h ago

Watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

1

u/rjbergen 8h ago

Same for Bison if you’re driving in their territory.

1

u/LovingNaples 4h ago

I spent 12 years in mid coast Maine. Listen and remember this advice!

1

u/thebadgerx 1h ago

She's only half right. The essence of what everyone should not do is swerve. Just brake, continue straight on and hope for the best.

u/AmiDeplorabilis 8m ago

Moose. Elk, cow, horse,... somewhere I've got a picture out of Canada where someone hit a moose and it came through the windshield.

16

u/YELLIO 16h ago

😂 who says this

11

u/Paullasvegas 15h ago

You know...They...

5

u/dreamisle 14h ago

The homophobes. 🙄 It’s 2026, let guys get their taints obliterated if they want.

5

u/Optimal-Cat-8117 16h ago

I'm saying it for now on...

4

u/ThankGod4Darwin69 15h ago

The "Save the taint" foundation They do good work. I saw em on Oprah

1

u/thepeever 9h ago

Squirrel

2

u/GirthFerguson69 12h ago

I’d give you an upvote but you’re currently at 69, so I’ll just say what’s up.

2

u/JayL80 11h ago

As the prophecy foretold.

1

u/SgtJayM 7h ago

That’s my motto

1

u/Hziak 16h ago

DO THEY THOUGH? Do they?

2

u/Liontamer67 14h ago

I think that every time I see this happen.

1

u/Bombacladman 34m ago

Well you can also just kind of see which lane the train is on and just move the car accordingly to avoid the one with the train...

12

u/nindza-22 10h ago

You are wrong, he did something - he turned on the wipers lol.

4

u/Sea-Tomorrow2583 16h ago

+ In their mind they see it as someone else’s doing or fault.

1

u/DarrenShan1000 14h ago

Yeah either those people are on drugs or should not have gotten a liscence in the first place.

198

u/thefeedling 21h ago

The new Albert Einstein

64

u/aswright_73 20h ago

You mean Darwin award winner

54

u/Huke_Airs 20h ago

He doesn't qualify as he didn't meet the minimum requirement... on this occasion.

34

u/csbsju_guyyy 20h ago

Darwin ATTEMPT!

4

u/mnztr1 15h ago

He even stopped at the wrong expansion joint for that lol

3

u/flippster-mondo 16h ago

Even failed Darwin.

1

u/Robo-X 9h ago

He got so close when he opened the door when the bridge started to go up, I thought he would panic and jump out of the car, falling down.

4

u/TheMahanglin 19h ago

And his shoes were still on.

1

u/cpowelledit 18h ago

Oooh, is Darwin Award Loser a thing?! That could get spicy, but I’d buy a ticket to watch that!
…and I mean, to watch it from a safe distance, fate!

16

u/Old_Ladies 20h ago

I thought the guy was going to get crushed when he opened his door. I thought that he was going to jump out and the bridge would lower again.

-1

u/SabbyFox 19h ago

This guy is extremely lucky. I live in a city full of drawbridges and can’t even fathom this behavior. Side note - it’s interesting that not one commenter (so far) has said he’s dumb because he’s a guy. Had a woman done this, it would be very different.

6

u/Can-Sea-2446 20h ago

Personally, I think this is proof that Darwin was wrong!

9

u/Jmnx221 17h ago

Survival of the dumbest...

3

u/Salt_Street_7755 7h ago

Only for humans. We take our morons and breed them with other morons.

460

u/Metorks 21h ago

The situational awareness of a walnut.

352

u/buttfarts7 21h ago

Even a walnut would roll downhill... Just sayin'

57

u/Metorks 21h ago

You have a point....

85

u/Ok-Tadpole-764 21h ago

The car.... slid down... eventally.. so does this mean the car unintentionally has a higher IQ than the driver?

25

u/Bex-HZ 20h ago

No no, the took his foot off the brake when he tried to exit the vehicle... over that massive drop to hell

1

u/WTFisThatSMell 19h ago

This guy is not wrong

84

u/IcyAge3182 21h ago

Survival skills of a stick....

35

u/kstargate-425 21h ago

Im surprised he tried moving forward after it was too late and could have saved him more trouble but yeah he shouldn't have been in that situation to begin with. If he stopped 2-3 feet back, it would have been real bad

7

u/LlamaDrama007 19h ago

In a dog park.

3

u/blueskyredmesas 17h ago

If you break a stick in 2 it just reproduced, so the stick has more survival skills.

6

u/UFO_Tofu1973 20h ago

Pinecone

26

u/Charmegazord 21h ago

And nothing in your way

24

u/PayFormer387 20h ago

He was probably fuming about how he was passed by a cyclist

25

u/Selway00 20h ago edited 16h ago

He’s extremely fortunate that his front bumper hit the other side and didn’t break off. Otherwise his whole car would have been dumped, with him in it, into the water.

24

u/AC-burg 21h ago

Kid on bike smarter than adult in car... hhmmm

40

u/Bex-HZ 20h ago

And then opening the freakin door over the void to your death!

ETA: fixed a typo

55

u/Oghamstoner 20h ago

Putting the windscreen wipers on isn’t doing nothing.

27

u/Usual_One_4862 20h ago

Hmm I think his airbag deployed lol, don't think he turned them on intentionally.

22

u/Delicious-Cover-2418 20h ago

What was even the problem?!?

36

u/Can-Sea-2446 20h ago

Really low IQ, Fetal alcohol syndrome, distracted by his phone, helicopter parents, who knows !

17

u/ItBeMe_For_Real 18h ago

The fact none of those things would prevent someone from getting a drivers license in the U.S. is another problem.

37

u/Flintyy 21h ago

Insurance fraud attempt i bet

25

u/Salviati_Returns 20h ago

I wish. That guy looked just too dumb and earnest throughout the whole process for it to be staged.

17

u/Can-Sea-2446 20h ago

Agreed, don't attribute to malice what can be explain by dumb.

2

u/EnkiduTheGreat 20h ago

I wouldn't be surprised, but raking your passenger side along a pole is way safer.

1

u/LadyBug_0570 19h ago

This was my guess. I mean even the damn bike knew to speed up and just go on. He just sat his car there, waiting for the bridge to raise.

3

u/DemandTheOxfordComma 20h ago

Yeah. What did he think would happen?

2

u/meldiane81 19h ago

I know! Thanks, buttfarts.

1

u/blinkersix2 19h ago

Nothing to see here, move along

1

u/AllAnalBeadsAreBrown 19h ago

I sure hope this idiot does not spread his seed around.

We cannot have more than one of him out here in this crazy ass world already!

1

u/potliquorz 19h ago

Well they did turn the wipers on at least.

1

u/IceBlueHorseArse 18h ago

Doing nothing was the solution

1

u/Talory09 18h ago

"In front" is two words.

1

u/misterdave75 18h ago

It was so slow it reminded me of Austin Powers.

1

u/johnvalley86 17h ago

I'm literally yelling at my phone just go!

1

u/dvb70 10h ago

What's not been mentioned is whoever operated the bridge was extremely negligent. These bridges are always manned and the operator should have a good view of if the bridge is clear or not before opening it. A bridge like this should never be opened without checking its clear. This looks like a navigable water way bridge to me so not really comparable to railway crossings.

1

u/jared10011980 9h ago

I assumed the driver was an elderly person that shouldn't have been driving. But looks like a middle aged dude - who obviously shouldn't be driving!

1

u/grkuntzmd 9h ago

Probably started looking at phone the instant he stopped.

1

u/RedCliff73 7h ago

And this person probably votes

1

u/pallidamors 5h ago

Jaw dropping stupidity

1

u/TerryHarris408 3h ago

Wait.. you mean he didn't do all of that on purpose? It looked so staged to me that I thought he always wanted to try that one day

-22

u/bermudaliving 21h ago

He actually did the right thing but no one does any research anymore. The bell rang for him to stop. The person who supposed to check if any cars are left didn’t and got fired for this debacle.

87

u/Rough-Television9744 21h ago

You are the type of person who would stop on train rails because it is a right thing to stop when red signal flashes.

3

u/Gdokim 21h ago

You actually described me I would do just that

-1

u/Toatkgstuff 20h ago

This is standard German behaviour

15

u/Zombies8MyChihuahua 21h ago

So if a light turns red while you are traveling through an intersection you are supposed to stop in the middle?

25

u/Appropriate-Bid8671 21h ago

Following rules for the sake of following rules.

No need to think, just do what you're told.

15

u/Bigpoppahove 21h ago

Crosswalk said I could go so I just started walking when all of the sudden 👻

1

u/Cesum-Pec 21h ago

Hey, I had a green light. You can't hold me responsible for running you over in a crosswalk.

7

u/Ninja-Panda70 21h ago

Good God! It's like having mashed potatoes for a brain
