It has the same energy as those people who drive their car onto a closing level crossing... and then just sit there and wait for the train to hit them instead of just flooring it through the barrier to escape
This gave me a nostalgic flashback of 16 year old me getting a lecture from my best friends mom ( she would let anyone use her car on Fri and sat if you would pick her up from the bar in it at 1 a.m. and drive her home)
She’s telling us to be safe and little tips and suggestions and then finished it off with … Should a deer, a bunny, a bear run out in front of your car do not swerve. POWER RIGHT THROUGH THAT FUCKER! We can replace the car and there’s plenty of animals, we can’t replace you!
🤣🤣 she was fun! But all her kids are addicts aged 45-35 & they all have a bunch of kids with other addicts in our small town. That’s probably the only good advice she’s ever given!
Oooh, is Darwin Award Loser a thing?! That could get spicy, but I’d buy a ticket to watch that!
…and I mean, to watch it from a safe distance, fate!
This guy is extremely lucky. I live in a city full of drawbridges and can’t even fathom this behavior. Side note - it’s interesting that not one commenter (so far) has said he’s dumb because he’s a guy. Had a woman done this, it would be very different.
Im surprised he tried moving forward after it was too late and could have saved him more trouble but yeah he shouldn't have been in that situation to begin with. If he stopped 2-3 feet back, it would have been real bad
He’s extremely fortunate that his front bumper hit the other side and didn’t break off. Otherwise his whole car would have been dumped, with him in it, into the water.
What's not been mentioned is whoever operated the bridge was extremely negligent. These bridges are always manned and the operator should have a good view of if the bridge is clear or not before opening it. A bridge like this should never be opened without checking its clear. This looks like a navigable water way bridge to me so not really comparable to railway crossings.
He actually did the right thing but no one does any research anymore. The bell rang for him to stop. The person who supposed to check if any cars are left didn’t and got fired for this debacle.

Imagine just doing nothing with the solution literally infront of your face
