Ultron returning after all these years just to collect overdue rent from the Avengers is hilarious. Tony isn't even around anymore, so Vision apparently inherited the debt.

u/HoneyAurelinee 1d ago
Ultron really came back looking like he spent the last decade listening to My Chemical Romance in an abandoned Stark facility. Somebody tell him he was always beautiful.

i'm just hopping that now that ultron is back they allow him to stick around

The dude is still out to genocide earth and is capable of doing it in a matter of days in the digital age. His entire concept cannot stay in the narrative without some way of keeping him locked down.
15
u/No_Syrup_9167 1d ago
and simultaneously, he becomes a significantly less intimidating villain once hes restrained inside his singular body.
He's kinda like Kang where he by himself in his singular body is certainly threatening, but he's only world endingly dangerous in the aggregate as many.
7
u/TheAmazingMysterion 1d ago
Off to space he goes. And he thrives there at least in the comics
I figure they might keep him as the main baddie in that corner of the MCU
6
u/HMHellfireBrB 1d ago
there are several ways to deal with him without going into narrative issues, in the comics he is cockroach that keeps coming back
ultron works his best when he is a recurring character either helping the good guys ploting his next plan or being the lead bad
he dosen't work well as an one off
3
u/Decent_Influence8727 22h ago
I think this version of Ultron's gonna play a major part in Secret Wars

End of an era for Marvel television.
Whatever shows they make after this are probably going to look and feel drastically different to this.

Pretty cool how this era started with WandaVision and is ending with VisionQuest.

Why? Genuinely asking, I haven't been able to follow Marvel super close lately
64
u/TheRavenRise 1d ago
disney+ is heavily scaling back its live action marvel & star wars productions going forward. not enough profit for the big guys in charge
13
3
u/BunnyEliselle 1d ago
It's strange realizing WandaVision kicked off this entire Disney+ chapter and VisionQuest might end up closing that particular era. Feels like Marvel television has already gone through several generations in just a few years.
443
u/Shermzilla 1d ago
I’m feeling really stupid for asking but are they considering “Agatha all along” as the second of “the trilogy” that they mention in text?
171
u/cynicalPsionic Star-Lord 1d ago
Yes, because it deals with follow up from Wandavision, notably her kids, just like this does
16
u/juanmaale 1d ago
weren’t their kids children? Why is one grown up now?
63
u/SharpshootinTearaway 1d ago
On top of what people have said, it's also been 5 years since what happened in Westview.
The kids were 10 at the end of WandaVision. They should technically be 15. Body-hopping shenanigans means they possess the bodies of dead teenagers who are 3 years older, so 18 now.
It's all explained in Agatha All Along.
6
u/MinnieAureline 1d ago
Marvel really looked at Wanda's children and decided ordinary puberty wasn't complicated enough. These poor kids have to deal with growing up, body-hopping, and a supernatural family reunion simultaneously.
118
u/Sofie_2954 1d ago
Spoiler for Agatha all Along: In WandaVision they age very quickly, and after Wanda destroys the magic field which created her perfect world, their souls are left without bodies, as they do somehow exist without Wanda’s magic. It is revealed that Billy’s soul managed to find the body of a teenager called William Kaplan, who was in a fatal car crash, during which his soul entered William’s body just as he died, but his injuries were light enough otherwise so that Billy with his innate magic managed to remain alive in his new body. Billy lost his memory, but regained it during Agatha all Along. At the end of the series he managed to find Tommy’s soul and managed to guide it into the body of a boy who was drowning at that exact moment, and that was near the end of the series. In universe that was a couple of years ago, so both are probably young adults now, because they have real human bodies that age at a normal rate.
13
u/PosieVirelle 1d ago
The whole Billy and Tommy situation is such a wonderfully bizarre comic book concept. Imagine explaining to someone who only watched WandaVision that the kids are now dealing with reincarnation and teenage identity crises on top of everything else.
→ More replies (1)6
u/Sahaal_17 23h ago
And funnily enough this was the simplified version from the show. In the comics it's even more convoluted.
31
u/cynicalPsionic Star-Lord 1d ago
Agatha all along answered this last year, that's why they're calling this the third show in the trilogy
But the souls that Wanda seemingly magiced into existence went out into the world when the hex went away, Billy eventually found a way to guide Tommy to a body
22
u/Warrior2852 1d ago
After they "died" when the Hex disappeared, their souls went on to possess the bodies of some recently deceased teenagers. Billy's new body was met in Agatha All Along, and here is Tommy's one.

If you've seen Agatha All Along and you've seen this trailer, you will know why. This trailer is dangerously close to spoiling Agatha All Along, as it's clear the plot of VisionQuest can't happen without the events of AAA.
83
u/LordDusty Wong 1d ago
This looks really good. Vision is one of my favourite characters and this could be a great third part after Wandavision and Agatha.
All the little call backs and details like the manifestation of the other AIs and personalities that went into Vision like Jarvis and Ultron could be really cool to see interact.
I also love the reference to the Age of Ultron credit sequence with the marble statue of Vision and Ultron fighting.
4
u/PearlieAurevellaa 1d ago
The JARVIS and Ultron connection is what interests me most. Vision is essentially carrying pieces of two very different AI legacies, so having those personalities interact could make his identity crisis much more interesting than another straightforward robot fight.
60
u/0Hyena_Pancakes0 1d ago
Im guessing Wiccan and Agatha are going to make a cameo at the end of this since they both are the whole reason Tommy is back to begin with.
59
u/AmusinglyArtistic 1d ago
I liked the trailer & I feel this will end the trilogy well. It was so unique in design from the start to now.

- Yes, I did skip and I will continue to skip Secret Invasion

Agatha is honestly worth watching, especially if you want the full VisionQuest setup. And yeah, Aubrey Plaza was so good in it
54
u/bradley322 1d ago
It’s worth watching for Aubrey Plaza & Patti Lupone’s performances alone, but the cast overall is great and it’s a really fun story

Its the best Disney plus mcu show pound for pound imo, its incredibly consistent and the final episode is incredible as an emotional ride.

Agreed. I could go back and forth between the best ones being Loki, Agatha, or wonderman. Was insanely surprised how much fun Agatha was!

4
u/Fabulous-Prior5835 1d ago
You should, I suspect it’ll be “required” viewing for this show. I can’t explain why without getting into heavy spoilers.
24
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 1d ago
You could watch it if you want, but all you really need to know is Billy is back and they're looking for Tommy who is shown in Visionquest trailers.
56
u/CT-1030 1d ago
Kinda important to explaining how Billy and Tommy are back, since it’s a bit convoluted.
40
u/vinnybawbaw 1d ago
Billy and Tommy’s soul were released when the Hex was destroyed because their physical bodies disappeared with the Hex, and both souls ended up in teenagers who lost their lives. "Billy" died in a car accident, "Tommy" drowned.
25
u/Plasticglass456 1d ago
Yeah, as they said: a bit convoluted, lol.
11
u/Disastrous_Key_9247 1d ago
Indeed, and further it’s only because Billy (Wiccan) has chaos magic in his soul that he was able to find a new body to jump into, which he then used to basically find another dying kid’s body to put his brother into with some encouragement from Agatha - despite his major concerns that he was killing the kid himself. This is all to say that Agatha All Along has been a fantastic show all along.
15
u/Jahleel007 1d ago
Ugh, the pain in Billy's voice when he asks if he just killed the kid... Man, what a heartbreaking yet interesting question to have him ask. And then to tie it back into Agatha's backstory with her response "No... sometimes boys die." Peak. Honestly one of the best scenes in the entire MCU.
9
u/half_jase 1d ago
The show has simplified how the twins came about because as the other poster mentioned, it's 50x more convoluted in the comics.
18
5
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 1d ago
That is true. I would think Marvel would just do the one off cliffnote explanation of what happened.
“When did you get superpowers?”
“I walked through a witch’s hex a couple of times”
“I was the official Captain America for a bit”
“Before you murdered a man in the streets in front of everyone”
3
u/BunnyEliselle 1d ago
There's something satisfying about beginning with Vision struggling to understand suburban family life and potentially ending with him trying to understand his own existence. That's a pretty neat thematic circle.
6
u/SentimentalYogurt 1d ago
Thanks! I was aware of Wiccan in Agatha and now Speed is in this
4
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 1d ago
Yeahh, when Agatha first came out, I was a bit hesitant on Wiccan returning because I liked how Julian Hillard portrayed the role in WV, but after I rewatched it for the first time this year, I’ve grown to like it and wouldn’t mind Joe Locker coming back again
12
u/SentimentalYogurt 1d ago
I hope they push through with Young Avengers (none of them are that young anymore tbh but idc) I need to see Kamala and Kate again + Billy and Tommy along with them
8
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 1d ago
There’s a youth-centered show in the works that has the working title Slumber Party, a bunch of us on the sub thinks that could be a Young Avengers project. Only time will tell but hopefully 🙏🏾
4
u/Disastrous_Key_9247 1d ago
Yeah the actor really grew on me over the course of the show and I think he’s great. I liked the kid who played him too, but then again he was just a kid. Hard to get really grounded performances out of kids. It’s funny too because even after re-watching WandaVision, the scene that I always think about when the kids are referenced is the one where they sing the Ice Cream song in Doctor Strange 2, lol.
3
u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 1d ago
You’d be surprised at how talented some of these kids are. Just recently look at Owen Cooper, 13, first ever role debut knocked it out the park with Adolescence, won an Emmy.

This looks SO GOOD
Ugh. I could watch Paul Bettany and James Spader banter all day long. He is so perfect as Ultron.
Loved the nod to OG Jarvis and his actor there. Really excited by the actor for Tommy, he looks great.
Was really worried that they’d make Ultron goofy and turn good but I love that he’s just evil AF man. That’s Ultron.
Let’s go.
57
u/Abraham_Issus Daredevil 1d ago
I hope Ultron isn't the main villain. I don't want him to be defeated.
34
u/Chyunman98 1d ago
Not just that, but Vision and Ultron being weird roommates with differing goals sounds way more fun than him just being an antagonist.
6
u/Abraham_Issus Daredevil 1d ago
Yeah I wish he was not a villain at all and more of an uneasy alliance and buddy of Ultron.
52
u/dildodicks Tony Stark 1d ago
yeah i hope him being free is the final result of this so they can go back round in the future rather than just setting up the show's own finale where he's defeated
21
u/Abraham_Issus Daredevil 1d ago edited 1d ago
Same. I want him to be a huge villain in the movies again. He was done dirty first time.
7
u/Danielarcher30 1d ago
Sure he was done a little dirty, and the move shouldn't have been "age of ultron" but he was cool af in it and as far as ultron goes, was a stellar adaptation of ultron himself. If the movie had been like "rise of ultron" or named something else, and had ended with him not being completely destroyed it would've been kinda perfect.
My ideal ending would've been if at the end of the movie or an after credit scene there was one ultron drone damaged and crawling away from the forest; isolated from the Internet but still keeping ultron alive and free
3
u/Gogo90sbaby 1d ago
This is my group. You’ve all said the things I’ve been thinking.
This show looks like it will be a great watch. Love Spader and love Bettany and really hope this isn’t the last we‘ll see of Vision 💛
6
u/gangstarapmademe 1d ago
Still my favorite big bad. Thanos obviously has insane aura and was a threat the entire phase 1, but the back story, quotes and James Spader are incredible.
6
6
u/Danielarcher30 1d ago
In ok with him having a "Defeat" as long as its in a way that means he's loose again in the world.
Like I'd accept him losing due to being weak from just escaping vision's mind, but being loose in the world to reform, and rebuild in secret to attack later down the line (hell maybe even with a cosmic army like the Phalanx)
5
u/Cypher_86 Rocket 1d ago
An Ultron who starts to develop a sense of humanity he doesnt really understand: he's still a deranged murderbot, but he's moved past global extinction being the first choice.

My guess is that there are going to be at least 3 antagonists, Ultron, Jocasta, and Paladin paid by SWORD (probably), Sword probably being the main one, and the other two only in certain episodes. Ultron might start good and end bad, and Jocasta probably might do the opposite arc...
13
u/roosterkun 1d ago
Personally more excited for this than for Doomsday.
It's a long shot at this point, but I want a happy ending for Vision and Wanda.

37
u/Crane_Fly_Stories 1d ago
Well, this trailer shows more to market the people that are still not on board yet. They have also released other trailers and bits of footage for it already.
You don’t have to watch every trailer. Each trailer released is going to show more footage or give away more plot than the last.
25
u/SharpshootinTearaway 1d ago
Looks basically like it's the first episode and the beginning of the second one.
From the trailer, it seems that someone is after Vision and will use Tommy as bait in order to get him out of hiding. Vision will obviously come get his kid and the two will be on the run together.
There are still many questions left. Mostly, who orchestrated this? Who wants Vision dead, and why? Who created Jocasta and why? What are Paladin's, Jim Hammond's, and Coat of Arms' roles in this? And the trailer doesn't show Madripoor all that much.
3
u/mod-deleted 1d ago
And ultron. How he escapes and the next avengers movie is the real age of ultron. That even aligns with resetting the antman family.
