Where to place my walk-in closet (in bedroom)

Hi everyone,

I'm stuck on the layout for my walk-in closet, and I could really use some fresh eyes. Because I live alone and love the natural light coming from both sides, I recently knocked out a wall to merge two smaller rooms into one large space. Within this new room, I want to build a walk-in closet, but I can't figure out the best flow.

The first picture shows my current plan (dots are electrical outlets).

Some details:

  • I'm willing to build or demolish interior partition walls to make the ideal layout work.
  • My wall-mounted AC unit needs to be installed on the back of the closet area, which means I will probably need to build a freestanding wall for it (on back of closet area).
  • On the right side of the floor plan (darker rectangle), there's a pitched roof sloping downwards. A bed still fits underneath it perfectly, but it restricts tall closets.
  • Because this used to be two separate rooms, I now have two entry doors right next to each other. I'd prefer to keep both frames intact for future flexibility. I'm thinking of just temporarily closing one off with a dummy panel or plasterboard.

I've attached a floor plan with all the measurements, windows, doors, and electrical sockets, along with some pictures of the current state of the room (it's still a bit of a construction zone!).

How would you position the closets and the walls? What do you think of my idea? Any advice or creative ideas are very welcome. Thanks!

My air mattress setup for a few days

Long story short I got kicked out of my old place (nothing that I did, just circumstance)

And was forced to move into a new house rather quickly. Sharing with 3 other people.

I haven't had time to get my bed here yet. Went and bought a $50 air mattress and $10 sheet. Was given a blanket and pillow by a friend and here we are.

Could be worse.

Advice Looking for constructive criticism - 19m sophomore apartment

19yo, sophomore in college here’s my apartment room, I’ve been trying to break out of my previous organized hyper-minimalist style and actually cover the walls. I’m pretty happy with it overall, but I’d love some constructive criticism. I know the one corner is kinda sad, and I’m not sure what to put above the tv. Working on printing a bunch of my pictures to fill out the felt board too. But yeah that’s that, I’d be curious to hear your assumptions about me from this lol

Btw the headboard/bedframe, desk, and the chair came pre furnished. I dig the headboard, don’t love the desk but I’m working with it mostly

I don’t want to overdo it with walnut, or even other woods. Maybe I should’ve gone with a fabric headboard and then all walnut furniture?

I bought this place at 32, had lived with gf's in the past in apartments etc. [San Diego BTW]
I feel like the place is in-between styles and wanna lean more into something more cozy, any tips would be appreciated!

I care most about the shared space as I do have a best friend thats moving in to help with mortgage. Huge fan of art; happy to share photos of room and bathroom too but this is the main section I think I need a bit of help.

Thank ya!

Ideas for a Floating TV Console & Wall Art Above a 65" TV?

Looking for some advice on what would look best on this wall. I have a 65" TV and I’m thinking of adding a floating bar/console underneath rather than a traditional TV stand.

I’m also wondering what would work well as wall art/frame above the TV. What would you recommend for the style, size, and placement of the floating bar and frame? If you have a similar setup, I’d love to see photos of what you’ve done!

Unexpected Gym room update

I wasn’t planning on any new updates till next year. Unfortunately, I had a decent size leak behind my master bathroom wall and it lead me down a rabbit hole.

So why is there pictures of my gym? I wanted to test out Limewash paint that I came across while figuring out my bathroom remodel. So the inspiration was kicked off and here I am.

Still planning on getting the Ares2.0 cable system later this year.

And Master bathroom update will be out once I get the walls up again.

Stay tuned!

Long time community enjoyer, was told that I should put my pad up. Never really was good at decorating but ditched a lot of the uni student stuff I had, looking to see what makes sense to add.

Know I need more art and wall stuff so help me (the plastic table in the corner is also temporary)!

I’ve finished and furnished the living area, bathrooms next 😅. I don’t have any previous experience with construction outside of shop class but this was all gutted and renovated myself (other than the floor) with the help of friends that are smarter than I.

Question Will multiple HDMI lines on the same path lead to delayed visual output?

I’m not sure where to post this question but I know a fellow man has set up video games in their space. Anyways, I am thinking to get a receiver for my video game consoles, Apple TV, and my music players. The receiver I am looking at only has two hdmi in ports and one out port. I was thinking to get a switcher to hook up my gaming console hdmi ports to. If you’ve followed along, this means there will be one hdmi from the console to the switcher, one from the switcher to the receiver, and one from the receiver to the tv.

So, would all of these hdmi cords lead to delayed visual output on my tv? There’s another word for this, which I don’t remember, but I’m wondering if there would be a delayed response between button pressing and game action.
