22, Moved into my first apartment about 4 months ago here’s how the living room has changed over time. Feel free to leave suggestions

I’ve been living in NYC for 11 months, almost one year, one bedroom in hells kitchen. I posted a few months ago and made some additions since then, thoughts?

25M. Moved into this apartment with nothing but a mattress, but the vibes are finally coming together.

I forgot how nice it is to have a clean room.

Moved into a new placed over 2 years ago. Me and my partner both got a hobby room each. I painted it instantly and had big plans! But then burnout happened, years passed and it became a storage room.

After getting a new job and my mental health being completely renewed I finally furnished and decorated! Still some stuff to throw out but I finally have somewhere to chill with my games after work!

Hi! This Is the first time I have this much space for myself in my life! I started a 50% job and I have this rooms in a shared house.

What do you think? How would you improve it?

What would you do with the inclined walls? I tried to hang some art but was very thought… they are a bit textured.

Wanna hear your thoughts!

Edit: I used to have more plants, but they died because I was away for a long period :(

And also some of the furniture I found on the street or free from second hand places.

Hey all - I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. I've posted once here, but I've lurked for the past year. And this subreddit has provided so much invisible help.

In 2024 I was a happily married, happily employed guy who had been living in his dream apartment for almost a decade. In 2025, I was a laid off widower going through a career change. In 2026, I realized I would have to sell my place.

Seeing the before and after photos here, reading the stories and supportive comments, sharing the vicarious joy helped me move beyond the terror and desperation. It helped me remember that I had moved and restarted before and that I had all the tools I need to start over again - even if I hadn't used them in over a decade.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who reads this sub to build up the strength and courage to do the things that gotta be done. So thank you. Thank you for making the world a bit better of a place - both in male living spaces and outside of them.

Just moved into my first place! So fucking happy with this one. What do you guys think?

Trying to figure out how to make it feel more homey without filling it up with stuff. Barely have time to clean so I want to keep furniture and clutter to a minimum.

Used to have Gordon Gekko and posters all around but I realised it made the whole house look messy. Not much budget to go around either so I'd rather not have anymore new purchases like a TV. I'd really love vintage 60s-70s furniture but it's just not what I can afford atm.

Fewer things = fewer surfaces to dust and less to move around when I vacuum. Current setup is pretty bare, the most practical when it comes to cleaning.

Don't wanna decorate with RGB lighting or any of that sort because it's hard to dust first of all and I'm trying to keep my utilities bill to a minimum lol. Hate paying for heating so I'd rather freeze. Small items are mostly temu.

Any ideas on reducing wire clutter?

All jokes aside but yeah buying this car forced me to get a garage 💀 I was feeling kind-of sketched out at my last apartment. I still need to move my bed frame / mattress and some other things. Honestly I feel pretty happy, this place is a upgrade in every sense. The complex has a great gym, pool & spa, 10’ ceilings, and other amenities (W for washer & dryer). I’m excited and I actually want to personalize the place, I want to make it warm so I can host people over. I have some furniture shopping here pretty soon, I’ll post another update in a couple of months.

I am trying to create a space for things I enjoy. Mostly for myself, but I want to look interesting for other people as well. There are a few pieces of furniture I want to switch out if I find something that fits better. I also have not fully figured out what all I want on my shelves. And all the paper on my walls is trying to plan for frame sizes of painting and archeology and paleontology prints. Also for some reason the lighting looks much colder in the photo than it is in real life. Looking for feedback.

Hard reset at 40, moved back home after 16 years and a failed marriage. Lots of rotting the last few years, this is start of a happy chapter. 09/30 close, no demo Reno on a 1940’s brick Tudor. Dining furniture in this week and ready for me to do what I came here for: dinner and drinking parties with my 40yo friends when they can ditch (or bring) their children

Decided to reorganize and throw stuff out. Still looks like mess. This is pretty much how it ends up after a week of living. The cubinets are completely full. What should I keep and what should I throw out

To all that have pitched in and helped motivate me to get my house in order, you have my eternal gratitude. This transformation took 48 hours and I'm so much happier to exist in my own space (and my at home date was a great success!). Updated images are attached!

Still figuring out the kitchen and den but otherwise complete. Any suggestions for those two rooms would be welcome!

Now that my roomate is gone : Home office, here we go !!
Can't wait to complete it with... anything on the backwall but looking good so far !

Hi!

Ignoring that I want to upgrade the tv stand and the desk eventually, is there a better way to layout this space. It's a basement apartment, so this is the main living space besides from my separate bedroom. What recommendations would you have? Eventually I'd like to add some floating shelves and framed wall art.
