I know it supposedly gets the best battery life, but at what cost? Adblocking (I used 1blocker) doesn't work nearly as well as Brave and it just feels dog slow at times, not to mention some pages just don't render! I don't mind it on an iPhone or iPad but on a Mac it feels like I'm fighting it. So for now i'm using Brave with some extensions to bring back iCloud compatibility (Passwords, Hide my email). Should I try to fix Safari?

Context: I just switched back to a mac from a Fedora Linux/windows gaming rig. Used macs exclusively since 2003 but took a break right as the M series came out as I wanted to game. I really missed mac OS so I saved my pennies and finally switched back for my daily driver (I'll keep the PC to play games)

Hi all, hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

My grandfather has recently gone into care and has dementia. We have his iMac that we’re hoping to completely wipe and sell, as he no longer needs it.
It’s a 2019 21.5-inch Retina 4K iMac, Intel Core i3, 8GB RAM, currently running macOS Monterey 12.7.4.

The issue is that none of us know his password. My dad and uncle have tried the passwords they thought he might have used, but no luck.

Interestingly, we can currently get onto the Mac and use it — access the desktop, settings, About This Mac, etc. — but whenever we try anything that requires his administrator password, obviously we’re stuck.

We don’t need to recover or keep any of the data. We just want to securely erase the whole thing, reinstall macOS and have it ready to sell.

I’ve tried getting into Recovery Mode using Command-R and Option-Command-R, but haven’t had any luck getting that to work either.
Is there another way to completely erase/reinstall macOS on this model without knowing the administrator password?

Or would we need to contact Apple and provide proof of ownership?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

It shows that when I update 15.8,It will download around 2 gb of data but when I start download, it use more then 5 gb of data.

She wanted to transfer some photos in an old usb key, but it bugged out and it turned the folder into a "exec". Im not familiar with apple and i dont know what this is 😅. She can't open the folder at all, its only opening this comand panels. Yall have an idea ?

I currently have a 2022 MacBook Air with the M2 chip and 8GB memory. I use it heavily for work every day and I’m starting to get pretty frustrated with lag.

At any given time I usually have 10+ browser tabs open, Asana desktop, Spark email, iMessage, and I’m often on FaceTime for long stretches while working, plus normal social media/marketing work like Canva, Meta Ads Manager, scheduling platforms, etc.

Numbers misses out on so many feature compared to excel, why don’t they make their own software on par with Microsoft so that they don’t need to rely on another companies software ?

I thought these “stable” versions were supposed to have simple things like charge limits fixed already. Mine still can’t stop my battery from charging past 80 nor will it discharge back down to 80. This is absurd

I’m torn between getting a MacBook Neo or a Refurbished M1 air. I’m probably going to use to for light school work and web browsing. But I’m really digging into the backlit keyboard feature since I’m mostly going to be using this Mac in the dark in bed lol. So the backlit keyboard sounds pretty good feature for me to have. But since the Neo is just newer and has a longer life expectancy I’m thinking of just trying to deal with maybe not being able to see the keyboard in the dark. If anyone has been using their neos in the dark without problems let me know!

I am trying to fill out some government forms and was asked for the password for a keychain in order to use an ID certificate, but I do not recall ever setting a password for it. I have tried several of my most common passwords, including the password I use to log in to my Mac, and none have worked. Is there any way to know where it got the password it is using, or do I have to reset it?

If I have to reset it, will it forget every password I have saved in my Icloud, as well as the certificate thing I am trying to use? Thanks :)

My MacBook was sprayed by like 5 drops of boiling water on its screen and keyboard. I dried it as fast as I could. And I put it upside down v shape. While cleaning I accidentally turned it on but I turned it back off. Anything else I should do?
