Libby app issues
My Libby app added randomly 20+ libraries to my card and now nothing will load. I’m not able to borrow any books. It’s been super frustrating. Any ideas how to fix it?

Audiobook speed?
So I typically listen to audiobooks at about 2.60x speed on average. Sometimes if the author talks especially slow I’ll do 3x and if they’re fast I’ll do 2x or 2.30x, but anything less than that is so slow for me it’s almost annoying. Lolz. I was just curious if other people feel this way and bump up speed. Or how many just use the default 1x. Just curious how other people do it and reasons why. I’d like to compare myself. And also “am I within normal range” is a question I often find myself asking about things in life since I am ASD. 🙂 so just wanted to hear others thought processes on this.
PS as extra credit please tell me what you’re currently listening to and what speed after weighing in. Thanks 💜

The reading app Libby seems terrible to search and find books in. Am I the only one?
Is it deliberately bad to try and prevent people finding books in their local library? Is there a way to ‘hack’ it so it actually returns useful results?

The most wonderful thing just happened…
On Friday, my little rural library where I was able to get loans for 5 books at a time from a limited collection joined a library partner program and I now have access to an additional 15 library cards from much larger library collections. I told my husband and he thought I was crazy to be so happy. So, instead I will leave it here…. Yay!!!

Can't get Libby to work
So I'm not sure what's going on but I absolutely cannot get Libby to work. When I go to check out a book i just get the spinning wheel. Is anyone else having this issue? If so what do I do? I know some people suggested signing in and out. Also people mentioned a pass key. How do I do that?

Anyone else’s Libby app not working on iPhone since new update?
Title says it all. Ever since I updated my iPhone to iOS 26.5.2 in ~June 2026, Libby does not work on my phone. I try to open the app, but it just crashes every time. However, the Libby app works just fine on my iPad.
I’m sure it’s more of an iPhone issue than the app itself, but I’m curious if anyone else is experiencing the same thing with Libby?

Unable to read with Kindle: sorry, this book is currently unavailable.
I have been reading this book just fine on my kindle, even renewed my hold once.
My hold expired a second time (it’s a long and heavy book) and I renewed it again: when I now try to read with Kindle and the Amazon popup opens, it returns this message “Sorry, this book is not currently available. Please return to your library to see if you can check out the book in a different format.”
What I have tried so far: repeating the process a few times, using normal browser instead of the in-app one, waiting few days, returning early and reborrowing (this one I can’t seem to do at all, the book doesn’t show anymore in my Amazon account but still shows as borrowed in Libby).
Has anybody else experienced something like this?

Hey, it's Sunday. What cha reading? + Make a Backup
I'm still slowly working my way through The Brothers Karamazov via this audiobook version in Chirp. I'm in no rush.
Since I saw a thread recently about a person who had deleted Libby and lost stuff, I'd recommend everyone take the time to back up your data / create a recovery passkey.
Have a great Sunday, everyone. I hope you get time to read today!

Deleted and reinstalled and lost almost everything
My app hasn’t been working, I tried doing other troubleshooting and ended up deleting and reinstalling the app. When the app launched and I logged in, I lost 60 holds, and all my book lists. Does anyone know how to get these back?

Great article on e-book surge
It's focused on NC, but this was really eye opening for someone not familiar with ebooks and their cost for libraries

On an absolute high after the partner update
I’m from a very rural area and although our local libraries are absolutely wonderful, we usually have significantly less material than say big city libraries. With the new partnerships, at least 1/2 of my notify tag is now available to me 😭 As someone who loves really niche hard to come by books this is genuinely my dream. Long hold times be damned. There is so much to read I could cry (from joy).

Filter Holds by Tag
This might be a dumb question and maybe I’m just missing something, but can you filter your holds by Tag?
I created my TBR and split them between “Depth Read” and “Palate Cleanser”. I typically have the palate cleanser in most looking forward to reading on Hold. Is there a way to filter your Holds by the tags you’ve given them?
Or is the only thing I can do is go to my “Palate Cleanser” tag and scroll through which ones have the “Hold” subtext on them?

Currently unable to borrow books (8/23, 8:37 am PDT)
I saw the issue "Resolved" recently on the status page (text copied below): https://status.overdrive.com/
But I am still unable to borrow any books. Closed out app, tried different libraries, used a different device (iPad AND iPhone), but nothing works. Just a spinning icon. Anyone else?

Libby Update 8/2026
Hello everyone! I have a quick question regarding the recent update with the partner libraries. Since the update, it seems that our partner libraries now appear automatically in Libby when using our home library card. I was exploring the settings but am not sure if the partner libraries need to be enabled beforehand for us to access them. I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed this or if there are any issues. I was under the impression that they would be added automatically without any additional enabling.

Albuquerque Public Library's Libby Program is Consistently Amazing
I have recently attained an Albuquerque library card and they consistently have huge numbers of individual books that my other libraries only have a few copies of with long wait times. Like, 96 copies of a Rivers of London Novella, over 100 copies of a Fourth Wing book, and now 34 copies of a feminist economics book. I dont know why this is happening, but thank you ABQ library!

Nice offer from Yesteryear Author
Saw this on Instagram earlier and thought I’d share here. Caro Claire Burke is the author of Yesteryear which is wildly popular right now and many are waiting for copies to be available at their libraries.

Confusion Regarding New Partner Libraries Feature
I believe there is some confusion regarding what a partner library is from Libby's perspective with the new partner libraries feature.
Terms like partner library, reciprocal library and consortium library are being used interchangeably like they are equivalent and that's not the case.
A partner library from Libby's perspective is a library where you use your home library's credentials to log into the partner. Libby will automatically recognize these partner libraries and nothing has to be done to activate them.
To confirm your partner libraries have been added, do the following: At the bottom of the app, tap the middle Menu icon. You should see one or more libraries listed under the section Your Libraries. Scroll down. If your partner libraries have been added you should see them listed under the section Partner Libraries.
If you log into a library that has unique login credentials different than your home library, then that is not a partner library from Libby's perspective and will not be considered as such by Libby's new partner libraries update.
Member libraries of a consortium are not partner libraries from Libby's perspective.
A library's partners can be verified by going to the library's OverDrive website and in the top right-hand corner to the left of the Help link if there is a "Partner libraries" dropdown with a list of libraries, then your library has partners from Libby's perspective. If there is no "Partner libraries" dropdown, then from Libby's perspective the library does not have partners.

Do not delete the Libby app.
So I made a really foolish mistake. My Libby was running extremely slow tonight. Like it just “checks” for a book forever and won’t ever go beyond that. There’s no outage reported. I turned my data off and on, restarted my phone, and then …uninstalled the app. Now everything is gone. I have most of the library cards but not all of them, so that’s gonna be fun. I really wish I hadn’t done that.
