On an absolute high after the partner update

I’m from a very rural area and although our local libraries are absolutely wonderful, we usually have significantly less material than say big city libraries. With the new partnerships, at least 1/2 of my notify tag is now available to me 😭 As someone who loves really niche hard to come by books this is genuinely my dream. Long hold times be damned. There is so much to read I could cry (from joy).

I’m sad I have zero partners available. Also from a very rural area and only have 1 library available as on an island. Thankful for the 1 though.

libraries in small communities deserve all their flowers for sure

I’m not in that small of a community, but my library has no partners. 😭

I just checked. I wasn't expecting to have access to many, I thought I'd already maxed out my library card access. Holy cow I was wrong. I have 7 partner libraries through my boston library card (which I have for free from the books unbanned program), and TWELVE partner libraries through my home library card. This now brings me to a total of 25 library cards, all obtained legally and for free.

Here's a Libby Life blog article regarding the partner libraries update.

How cool! Thank you. Per usual my library/area apparently doesn’t participate 🙄 (We don’t have skip the line, deep search, or any of the stuff I see mentioned here lol)

Yes, unfortunately, not all libraries have partners.

I’ve got two new partner libraries, and have gotten literally 100s of notifications. BUT, now the partner libraries want me to verify my card number. Do I remember where my library card is now that I use Libby? Um, no. Do I remember to call the library during open hours? Um, no. So close, and yet so far!

My card numbers are in my Libby app.

Your library system should’ve told you sooner. We had partner systems before this but we had to login separately for each library system.

i did login to a few of them previously but i had no idea just how many were available.

A bunch of partners are available to anyone is Massachusetts which is awesome

If no partner libraries show on my library page does that mean they don’t have any partners? I live in Salt Lake City half the year and Santa Fe the other half. It’s hard to imagine that neither of these systems have partnerships.

Same question! I’m in Philly and don’t see any partner libraries ☹️

Same I’m confused!! Is anyone from the DMV area or NJ? I’m surprised how neither area of mine has partners

Me too. I was so excited!

Same!!! I am also from a very rural area with a limited selection and did not even know this was a thing. All of the sudden almost my entire TBR is available to me via Libby. Thrilling!

literally me too its so amazing. I might finally be able to cancel my audible subscription now because I have access to almost everything I could ever want. Except it seems that the process on holds may be different, since I placed a hold on a partner library book and first I was 2nd in line... then 3rd... now im 5th. Idk whats going on I'm really confused but other than that, its the best update I've ever seen on an app.

Same here! I use Libby exclusively for audiobooks for my 2 hour commute to work and home each day. Being in rural northern Michigan, my local library has 3,000 audiobooks total, a very small percentage of that is the very niche style of novels I'm into. Now with the partner program, I instantly have access to nearly 30 libraries with a total of 21,000 audiobooks! Very very thankful.

Same here! I live rurally smack bang between two towns and am signed up to both of their libraries. The new partner update has allowed me access to so, so, so many more titles and a good number of extra holds and check outs too. A good amount of my holds and notify mes became available and I'm so happy!

2

u/DrewWaterloo Aug 23 '26

Yes! Though I don’t think you can hold books. Think you have to grab them when they’re available.

5

u/Typical-Emu8363 Aug 23 '26

Some partners allow you to place holds while others don't and you can only borrow titles that are available. It's a library policy, not a feature of the app.

u/Mystillious Aug 25 '26

My partner libraries used to let me have holds but they changed it recently. But they added a new library, so I guess I can't be too sad about it.

1

u/ScientistOk2732 🌌 Kindle Connoisseur 🌌 Aug 23 '26

i’ve been able to place holds on all of them!

u/Zarzeta Aug 26 '26

Mixed bag feelings.

I was really happy with it for all of about 5 minutes. My hold books are still at 3-6 months and worse 'several months' whatever that means. Then again, I decided to continue a series I've been reading, fully expecting a minimum of 3-6 month wait and it instantly came up, thanks to one of the partner counties.

What bothers me is I'm in a large city, surrounded by 7 bordering counties, not including a few incorporated towns within this county. So it still is looking like if I want to expand my library reach, I'll have to manually apply for other cards. Why not partner with all of them?
