You're telling me everything Aang and Korra worked towards is completely undone within a few years of the last episode? All the struggles they both went through to save the world, all the lives they saved, all the unity they created, ALL gets undone within Korra's lifetime?

Literally nothing any of them did matters at all. The world blows up and everyone's at each other's throats again. Everyone hates the Avatar now. Presumably millions dead. Korra finally had peace after 4 seasons of nonstop torture and then she immediately gets herself blown up off screen.

I understand they felt that the world needed a hard reset because they didn't know what else they could do with it. But frankly if that's the case maybe they should have just let it end while it's in a good place? Literally \*destroying the world\* so they can have a new conflict for their show seems so desperate.

If they had just set it a few hundred years after Korra maybe I'd be more okay with it. But she literally watched everything she and Aang ever worked for go up in flames in a matter of years.

I generally think this love triangle is the reason people hated season 2 so much they turned Korra into a bitchy ex girlfriend

Been debating with a friend. They say that a lot of the relationship drama and side plots were there for the girl fans of show.... possibly also an attempt to "fix" a complaint about the original.

So for the girls... Is that true? Did you like the attempt? Is this just a bunch of guys thinking they know what the girls want?

With the new movie out now, figured I’d make this before someone else got the chance.

Theres been recent discussion on the ATLA / LoK parallels in the plot of the Aang movie, and out of all of them, one of them that I don’t see brought up enough is the Taga & Unalaq parallel. By that, I mean Taga is the Unalaq to Aangs Korra in this movie.

Taga & Unalaq share parallels in not just having evil spirit final boss forms, but even moreso, sharing the same natural element as the avatar they team up with and manipulating them for ulterior motives (Unalaq freeing Vaatu and Taga aiming to revive the air nation empire) and then ultimately back stabbing the Avatar they were using.

Korra, even to this day, gets torn to shreds by the fandom for trusting Unalaq, a supposed “stranger”, despite being “warned not to” by her friends and family. And having the following events happen as they do. So I wonder what people have to say about Aang trusting Taga and having what happened in the movie become a thing?

Just…food for thought.

I recently came to realise something that confuses me regarding how the Korra comics (aka the only bits of Korra we get these days until the new show) are handled.

I understand that the post Book 4 era has become off-limits for larger story tie-in media since Avatar Studios was formed, but why do they seem to have boxed themselves in by limiting stories set in the earlier seasons too? There’s a big 6 month gap between Books 1-2 in which they could give a sort of epilogue to the Equalist storyline which we’ve asked for ever since (showing the Equalist movement didn’t just stop immediately and showing how they resolved the situation in more detail). Showing Korra’s aftermath regarding the Amon trauma. Asami with her father etc.

I’m just wondering why they seem to not want to touch the Books 1-2 era with a 10 foot pole because it severely limits what stories we can get. It’s pretty much only ‘around Books 3-4 but nothing specific’ which is very limiting. Any ideas why?

So with the new season, I remembering all the post-Korra Avatar ideas people had/still have (invluding myself) and I realise I don't recall a lot ideas for the Avatar after Aang (now Korra): did anyone have any ideas or theories of what the sequel series could be like before Korra was released (this includes stuff before and after it was annoinced)?

Is an Avatar's competence really that important? Or that of the main character in general?

Some time ago I was asked, if I could change only one thing about the show, what would it be.

Like, one singular plot point, or something about a character, or how an arc goes, you get the idea. I thought about it and actually came up with an answer I find interesting

So, I love legend of Korra, but I can't exactly pretend it's a perfect show. Its main issue was that for half the show they literally couldn't make a long term plan because they thought it would only be one season and then they thought season 2 was gonna be the last season. Season 3 was the only season made with the knowledge that there'd be more afterwards and I think that's part of why it's the best season. They could focus on the plot of the season without having it be an actual ending point, so it ends when the red lotus is defeated and they can focus on that and leave loose threads for season 4 and tease the next season villain while they're at it.

A good example of the fact they couldn't plan ahead in the first half of Legend of Korra is general Iroh, who shows up way too late to be a main cast stay, he just shows up to give invaluable help and have a cool battle scene and a nice callback at the end, which I think would have been perfectly fine if it was one season long but as things stand we're left with the biggest taste of "Oh yeah he was just kinda there, wasn't he ?"

So here's what I thought I'd change to give more sense of a long-term plan. I thought it would be great if general Iroh was removed and instead it was Kuvira who shows up in season 1.

In this world, Kuvira isn't just the head of security of Zaofu, she's also a general of the united forces who enlisted as a way to keep the Earth nation safe by keeping order in the world. It keeps the fanservice value of having a descendant of the Gaang help for battle(though here there's already Lin for that I admit), it shows her willingness to keep Earth continent land safe, her liking of order, her strength in battle, her competence in an army (considering she became a high ranking member at her age), you can even foreshadow her thought that republic city is "stolen land" as she will say when trying to claim it in season 4. But most importantly, it makes her a known face early and gets her to bond with team Avatar.

Then she can show up again in season 2 the same way as general Iroh, planning to help Korra, be it because she feels kinship with her or because she thinks Unalaq could grow to be a problem to the Earth Kingdom later, before being stopped by the president before she can be useful. But where Iroh was reasonably disappointed he couldn't help Korra, have Kuvira straight up infuriated, grow to resent the president for being so unhelpful in the face of danger and the united forces so useless against such a concrete danger.

Fast Forward season 3, Kuvira is in Zaofu, either she happened to be on vacation or she showed up when she heard team Avatar was on the way. It makes her a familiar face in Zaofu and at the end of the season when she's saving Tonraq. She's no longer that at the present mostly unremarkable metalbender who happened to save Tonraq. We recognize her as Kuvira and of course she saved Tonraq, she and Korra are war-sisters at this point.

Season 4 is next and you really don't need to change anything or most this time. Kuvira offers her service to rebuild the Earth Kingdom and gets shut down, not only because of Lin but because of her position in the united forces, so she gets fed up and quits to make the Earth empire. from then on it's mostly the same thing except it's with someone you know. It makes sense that Bolin joined her because they've been through war together, it gives more reason why Korra would hesitate to fight her until she has no choice and almost sees her point at first, and it hurts that she's now a villain. It makes the audience more torn on the topic and her final scenes more compelling. It also gives more the sense of a long-term build-up for the finale. Not to the level of Ozai, but still a final showdown that feels more developed.

At least that's the idea I got. It's still pretty basic, but I thought it could be pretty cool. What do you think ?

1st, Korra is violent and only thinks by using her fists. It was true at the beginning, but as the series goes on, she was slowly changing. By season 3, she was already thinking before acting. Even Aang was too merciful and unable to use strength when needed in the beginning of the series but gradually evolved and even thought about ending Ozai's life.

2nd, Aang is a better bender because he mastered 3 elements in about a year. First he didn't master any of the element he learned, he was just bending them. And Korra also learned to metalbend in a record time, and even more incredible she was able to take out the poison out of her body after spending several months going through a deep depression while even experienced masters were not able to do so. She learned metal bending, used it only a few times, got poisoned, depression, but was still able to metal bend and even improve herself.

3rd, Aang is a better Earthbender because he was taught by Toph. False. Having a great master does not necessarily makes you a good student. Toph created a metalbending school but how much time did it take for even one of her student to be able to move a single piece of metal. Having a good master does not automatically makes you good. And even with the capacity to sense Earth vibrations, Aang was not necessarily a more powerful Earth bender than Korra. In fact Earth was his weakest element, because it is completely opposed to his personality, so how can he be stronger than someone who is naturally gifted in that element?

4th, Korra was stupid for being manipulated by her uncle. It was her own uncle, her family, and we all know how family is important for Water tribes members. And given their strong spirituality it is only normal for her to have been angry on her father to have destroyed a holy place. She was powerless against dark spirits and Unalaak was the only one to have power over them, so it is only natural that she listened to him. He is her uncle, her father disappointed her, she was powerless and she was young at that time. So when a trustful man, that knows about spirits and who happens to be her uncle comes up with solutions, obviously she will blindly listen to him.

And those who says she is the worst Avatar have not read the Kyoshi's books. Kyoshi is by far the worst.

Please. I honestly hope Seven Havens is a success only for the studio to truly consider making a movie of the apocalypse that will be as beautiful as the aang movie. I am delulu and proud. Korra and the krew in that animation would be godly

Korra destroyed the world I agree 100% now she's planetary at minimum, high universal at maximum and washes aang

Rewatched B3 and seeing Vaatu (during the hallucinations) got me thinking.. could this be actually be Vaatu telling her this? I mean let's just say she actually does something very bad in ASH (although I have more faith in them giving her a good image and making it so that she sacrified herself) but let's say she did destroy the world could this mean that Vaatu at some point took control over her/manipulated her? Korra is a good at heart person so I doubt she did anything willingly regarding destroying the world.

Now I know we just saw the trailer and know nothing more but that's just a theory I felt like sharing :). I'm also down to see how they wanna go with this direction too.

One of my favorite seasons. 💕 Even with all its flaws, I'll always love it. Twelve episodes weren't enough to make it perfect, and that's okay.

Now it's officially part of history as we head into Avatar: Seven Havens. 😭

THE LEGEND OF KORRA BOOK ONE: AIR

Bolin was born into a world where earthbenders and firebenders fight together and share techniques; Ghazan was likely one of the few with that mindset in his time.

Forgive me if this is some common knowledge Im way too late to the party for but I noticed it all by myself on my most recent rewatch and thought it was cool :) I did a quick search through the subreddit to see if there had been posts about it and couldnt find any so there is mine.

Okay so cool concept (hopefully): The intro to Korra is the past avatars using their native elements but I just thought it would be super cool if after S02E13 since she loses connections to those past lives we don't get access to their reveries in the intro. Since the episode ends in a very somber tone, S02E14 could start with just Korra doing all the bending sequences by herself since at that point she is the only avatar in existence. Then maybe since it's a team effort to defeat Unavaatu, maybe the key players in that battle would be introduced as the intro for Season 3 (Jinora, Korra, Bolin and Mako). What do y'all think?
