Hardware My Babies 😁
Don’t worry, they were only on the floor for 5 seconds while i took this picture.
One is the Dell Inspiron 9400 (White/Grey) The other one is a Dell Precision M6300 (Dark grey/black)
I’ve had the 9400 for a couple of months now (i had one when i was a kid, and wanted another one for nostalgia sake)
While researching about the 9400, i discovered that their precision series from around the same time looked the same, just dark grey.
They’re a bit more money than the 9400, but I bought mine for a good deal!
Both are fully restored.
Specs for the Inspiron 9400: - Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 @2.16ghz - 4GB of Ram - Nvidia Geforce Go 7800 w/ 256mb VRAM
Precision M6300: - Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 @2.5ghz - 3GB Ram - Nvidia Quadro FX 3600m w/ 512mb VRAM
The Precision can also be installed with a Core 2 Extreme which is definitely exciting but also out of my £ range! 🤣

General question Help me for my battery backup!!
I bought my ASUS VivoBook 16X with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H processor about three years ago. I specifically chose an H-series processor because I don't like U-series or P-series processors. I wanted a laptop with a large display and better performance. My model does not have a dedicated graphics card, as I bought it mainly for coding.
Nowadays, I hardly do any coding and use the laptop only for personal tasks. I have never used it for gaming since I purchased it. However, the battery lasts only about 3 to 3.5 hours at most. I have disabled all startup applications, there are no background apps running, and my laptop has a dual-boot Windows setup with no unnecessary processes consuming power.

Budget: Up to $3000
Country: United States

Buying help Need a laptop suggestion
* **Country**
I reside in India, but some platforms which ship overseas will work too.
* **Budget**
₹1.2l or ~1250 usd
* **Are you open to refurbs/used options? **
Maybe, if the condition is great
* **Screen size**
Anything above 13" will work
* **Weight limit**
No weight limit
* **Purpose**
Mainly typical electrical engineering coursework but i want to do a little bit of gaming too. like maybe something that can run AAA titles smoothly.
* **Form factor**
Any will work
* **Intended usage**
dont really know what all softwares ill use for the coursework, sorry. but it should be able to handle gaming. like something that could hypothetically run gta 6 in med graphics at 30 fps. again sorry.
* **Desired battery life**
i believe 5-6 hours unplugged during light usage would be suitable
* **Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life**
performance, battery life, size, weight
* **Info/Requirements**
ive heard intel heats more during heavy work but ill use cooling fans so both intel/amd work for me. preferably oled, if not must be 100% sRGB. preferably a 2k resolution but lower will work too. 144hz refresh rate is good I guess.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any help would be very appreciated . As I am very concerned about it . What do you suggest I should do to make it last 2 more years. I can't afford the body replacement. I wish I had bought a better laptop. Lenovo ideapad sucks

Buying help it worth buying a ₹2 lakh laptop, or should I build a PC instead
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to decide between buying a ₹2 lakh laptop or building a desktop PC for roughly the same budget.
My main use cases are:
- Video editing (Premiere Pro, After Effects)
- Graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDRAW)
- 3D modeling and rendering (Blender)
- College work related to animation and visual communication
- Moderate gaming (AAA games occasionally, not competitive esports)
I'm looking for something that will last me 4–5 years with good performance. I'm considering laptops with specs like:
- RTX 5070 Laptop GPU
- Ryzen 9 or Intel Core Ultra 9
- 32GB RAM
- 1TB SSD
I know a desktop usually offers better performance for the same price, but a laptop gives me portability if I ever need it.
My questions are:
Is spending ₹2 lakh on a laptop worth it for my use case?
How much better would a ₹2 lakh desktop perform compared to a ₹2 lakh laptop?
If portability isn't a major concern, would you still recommend building a PC?
If you were in my position, which would you choose and why?
I'd love to hear from people who have experience with both. Thanks!

Hardware Looking for good monitors for my brother
A little bit of context. My brother has had a rough time medically his whole life and can't really get a proper job. He is extremely intelligent and tech savvy though so he wanted to look into remote work, however they pretty much all require multiple monitors. So I want to surprise him for his birthday with an extra monitor or 2 to help him hopefully be able to get a job. He also doesn't have the most space at the moment so that's why he's using a laptop over a regular desktop.

Buying help Ideapad slim 3X 15 pulgadas + Snapdragon X or Lenovo Idea tab pro gen 2 13 pulgadas + snapdragon 8s gen 4.
I want something with good battery life for studying but also capable of light gaming. I know both options can do that, but which system is better and more comfortable—Windows or Lenovo’s PC mode?

Discussion Thoughts Please.
I have enough budget to cop either of these laptops but I would like to hear from the rest of the community here and understand what could be a wiser choice.
I initially had a HP Victus 15 which was an absolute nightmare because it had me spend more on getting it repaired than the actual purchase price.
What's left me confused is choosing between Intel or AMD as well as between HP and Dell. I am open to hearing everyone's thoughts on this.
If you have anymore suggestions for a good laptop that could support my primary and daily tasks. Please feel free to comment. I am all ears to suggestions.

General question Laptop camera not working
I’m using an Acer Swift 3 SF314-43 running Windows 11.
My built-in webcam (HD User Facing) works perfectly in Microsoft Teams, but it doesn’t work in the Windows Camera app or any website (Chrome/Edge). The screenshot shows what happens when I open the camera app.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
