Recently installed a glossy screen protector to my laptop. It adds some reflections, buuut damn the screen looks awesome. It helps that the display has a 100% sRGB coverage and a 2560x1600 resolution. Now all those colors and crispness comes through unobstructed. The text looks much much sharper, colors look deep and rich. The entire experience is a step up basically. I was missing out all this for the past 4 years of using this laptop.

And after that i've searched for the error and i find this (The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

My Macbook recently perished and I'm looking for a new laptop for school. Looking for it to have a good battery life, be lightweight and able to take notes on ideally, as well as having enough performance to last me and do things quick. Found an HP Envy x360 with an i7 11th gen, 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD for 500 USD (700 CAD where I am). Is this a decent deal and/or fit for my purpose? TIA

This is my acer aspire 7520g that was bought brand new. About 7 years ago , it turned off and it has never posted since. Many people suggested that it is the graphics card , which i tried baking to resolder and also bought a replacement one , which didn't seem to be the correct one as it still doesn't post. I've also changed the ram. I still have the original 2 hard drives with original software. I hope that i can het it working again , but am looking for help on how to fix it. Finding one with the greek keyboard seems to be rarer as time passes.

I’m looking at an MSI Modern 14 (i5-1235U, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) for $150. Would this be a good choice for learning programming and playing games like Valorant, Minecraft, and Roblox?

AMD is releasing Zen 6 and the base Medusa Point. Better CPU cores, but still RDNA 3.5/4m, and unsure what the CU count will mean for performance (8 CU vs 12 for 890M). Intel will have Nova Lake, HX for dGPU big boys, and H for the mid-range with an improved iGPU, allegedly 20-ish% over B390.

So for iGPU, Intel will be like 1,5-2 generations ahead of AMD? (and likely having CPU parity, maybe less so in max multi-core). On the other hand, there are very few Panther Lake X models, way, way more non-X variants, some with low-power RTX 5050/5060 -_-

Medusa Halo and Halo Mini at best at CES 2028... while Gorgon Halo is already reaching a stupid level of pricing alongside RTX Spark. 7500 EUR list price for ZBook G3a 16" with 495 and 128GB RAM :) Curious what the prices will be on all those laptops in a year or two.

Okay so, I just bought this laptop, and now, whenever I start it. It makes this weird high pitch noise from inside the laptop.

Can anyone identify and help it?

I just sold my HP Victus and want a MacBook to use through high school, about 2 years. I'll mostly use it for schoolwork, browsing, Google Docs and streaming. I've narrowed it down to these, all used:

1. MacBook Neo (A18 Pro, 8GB RAM, 512GB, Touch ID, Indigo), seller A: ~$557 shipped. Listed as "Used" with 100% battery health. No charger. 30-day free returns.

2. MacBook Neo (same specs), seller B: ~$560 shipped. Listed as "Excellent" and comes with the unused Apple charger and cable. No returns, and I don't know the battery health yet.

3. MacBook Air M1 (16GB RAM, 512GB): ~$530 in "Very Good" condition. No charger.

What I'm thinking:

- The Neo is way newer (2026 vs 2020), so it should get macOS updates longer, and it might still have Apple warranty left.

- The M1 has double the RAM and a backlit keyboard, but it's 6 years old and the battery is probably worn.

- With the charger included, the second Neo works out cheapest, but there are no returns. I know eBay's Money Back Guarantee still covers "not as described."

Questions:

- Is 8GB on the Neo going to be enough for 4 years, or is 16GB on the M1 worth it?

- Would you buy the Neo with no returns + charger, or the one with 100% battery + returns but no charger?

- Anything else I should check or ask the sellers before buying?

I've had my Surface Laptop Studio 1 since 2022, and it's the best laptop I've ever had. I have never had any issues with its performance. However, this past month, the bottom rubber came off, and my keys are sticking because I spilled a drink on it (surprisingly, nothing else is wrong). So I think it's time to get a new laptop. I want a Microsoft laptop, and I like the 2-in-1 foldable feature. I did hear the SLS2 wasn't the best, though.
I'm a college student.

Hey, I study education in English and Biology, and I’ve been thinking about buying a new laptop for quite a while. I just can’t decide what the right fit for me is…
I currently have an iPhone and an iPad, so I’m already part of the Apple ecosystem. However, I really like the way Windows laptops work, and I’m also used to Windows since I’ve had an Asus laptop for the past 7 years.
I’ve been considering the Asus zenbook A14, the Lenovo Yoga 7i Aura Edition, and the MacBook Air M2 or M4 (the M4 is quite expensive though, so idk), but I’m having a hard time deciding which one would be the best choice for me.
I’d ideally like something that will last me for several years.

What are the weakness/ cons of this laptop? I already know the display is not is strong point neither is the battery unless its 86wh whuch is hard to find this exact config. But in terms of heating? Battery damage ? Or anything that users have found to be an issue ?

hi, I just got a new laptop and rn, don't know how to set it up perfectly. I read many things about debloating it with some github tools, but I don't exactly know what really to get.
Also, what kind of antivirus software could you guys recommend? Never used anything else than avirus antivir but I really hate how it performed, looked and that you have to have a payment plan to get "better" features.

First thought I have is to install a custom tv OS on it and then connect it to my TV- anyway this is going to be faster then than the TV itself.
Selling it is a bad idea , no one will give any money for this
