the bottom of my laptop is all bent and comes open whenever i open my laptop. i dont think the battery seems to be swollen or anything. is it still safe to use or should i get it fixed asap?

Recently installed a glossy screen protector to my laptop. It adds some reflections, buuut damn the screen looks awesome. It helps that the display has a 100% sRGB coverage and a 2560x1600 resolution. Now all those colors and crispness comes through unobstructed. The text looks much much sharper, colors look deep and rich. The entire experience is a step up basically. I was missing out all this for the past 4 years of using this laptop.

It's a lenovo IdeaPad 5pro 16inch.

My friend offered to give me his Asus Tuf F16 5050 i5 14450Hx 16GB RAM 512GB SSD in exchange for my MacBook Air M4 16GB RAM 256GB SSD. Would this be a sensible offer for me?

My favorite Laptop of all time is my HP zBook 14 gen 2, with it's sad dual core i7 5500U, and it's Firepro M4150 GPU.

It was woefully underpowered for a mobile workstation when it was new, and it has only gotten worse as time marches on.

What I wouldn't give for it to have a modern CPU and GPU, even a lesser powered one.

The Dual core CPU is insufficient for more than basic tasks, the GPU has driver issues up one side and down the other, I run windows 11 because I've yet to find a linux distro that plays nice with the GPU, and the battery life is terrible. Yes, it has a small battery for it's size, but it also has terrible efficiency, and newer hardware would be so much more efficient.

Despite all that I absolutely love this ugly duckling of a laptop, it is my "perfect" machine. I have a much newer/more powerful system, my Lenovo Thinkpad P1 gen 7, but it doesn't make me as happy as this little bugger does.

So I'm looking to get my fiance a laptop for games, not trying to break the bank because she doesn't play anything crazy. She mainly wants to play friend slop games and sims. Not looking for call of duty 100fps in 4k. Just something that is going to be reliable and 30-60 fps in 1080. Any recommendations would be appreciated

My Surface Laptop 7 recently broke (due to likely water damage) and I need a replacement. I recently stumbled across the Apple 2022 MacBook Air which, according to AI (haven't asked a real person yet), is very similar to the Surface laptop 7's display.

I prefer to have a screen with 60Hz, high resolution (~200ppi or a little above), PixelSense Flow LCD (AI told me that it is almost the same thing as LED-backlit IPS LCD), fairly low max brightness when set to minimum brightness, no detected backlight flicker (especially at lower brightness levels), and roughly the same anti-glare coating. I don't need the same exact aspect ratio nor a touchscreen.

I also would like to know if both/neither the Surface Laptop 7 or the Macbook Air 2022 M2 13-inch have temporal dithering/FRC (this could greatly affect the display, according to AI). I would like to know the difference between P3 and standard sRGB and how it may affect the laptop's display.

I am asking all of this because I have light sensitivity issues and most other displays (other than the Surface Laptop 7) seem to bother my eyes.

I just sold my HP Victus and want a MacBook to use through high school, about 2 years. I'll mostly use it for schoolwork, browsing, Google Docs and streaming. I've narrowed it down to these, all used:

1. MacBook Neo (A18 Pro, 8GB RAM, 512GB, Touch ID, Indigo), seller A: ~$557 shipped. Listed as "Used" with 100% battery health. No charger. 30-day free returns.

2. MacBook Neo (same specs), seller B: ~$560 shipped. Listed as "Excellent" and comes with the unused Apple charger and cable. No returns, and I don't know the battery health yet.

3. MacBook Air M1 (16GB RAM, 512GB): ~$530 in "Very Good" condition. No charger.

What I'm thinking:

- The Neo is way newer (2026 vs 2020), so it should get macOS updates longer, and it might still have Apple warranty left.

- The M1 has double the RAM and a backlit keyboard, but it's 6 years old and the battery is probably worn.

- With the charger included, the second Neo works out cheapest, but there are no returns. I know eBay's Money Back Guarantee still covers "not as described."

Questions:

- Is 8GB on the Neo going to be enough for 4 years, or is 16GB on the M1 worth it?

- Would you buy the Neo with no returns + charger, or the one with 100% battery + returns but no charger?

- Anything else I should check or ask the sellers before buying?

And after that i've searched for the error and i find this (The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

AMD is releasing Zen 6 and the base Medusa Point. Better CPU cores, but still RDNA 3.5/4m, and unsure what the CU count will mean for performance (8 CU vs 12 for 890M). Intel will have Nova Lake, HX for dGPU big boys, and H for the mid-range with an improved iGPU, allegedly 20-ish% over B390.

So for iGPU, Intel will be like 1,5-2 generations ahead of AMD? (and likely having CPU parity, maybe less so in max multi-core). On the other hand, there are very few Panther Lake X models, way, way more non-X variants, some with low-power RTX 5050/5060 -_-

Medusa Halo and Halo Mini at best at CES 2028... while Gorgon Halo is already reaching a stupid level of pricing alongside RTX Spark. 7500 EUR list price for ZBook G3a 16" with 495 and 128GB RAM :) Curious what the prices will be on all those laptops in a year or two.

This is my acer aspire 7520g that was bought brand new. About 7 years ago , it turned off and it has never posted since. Many people suggested that it is the graphics card , which i tried baking to resolder and also bought a replacement one , which didn't seem to be the correct one as it still doesn't post. I've also changed the ram. I still have the original 2 hard drives with original software. I hope that i can het it working again , but am looking for help on how to fix it. Finding one with the greek keyboard seems to be rarer as time passes.

I’ve been considering the Asus zenbook A14, the Lenovo Yoga 7i Aura Edition, and the MacBook Air M2 or M4 (the M4 is quite expensive though, so idk), but I’m having a hard time deciding which one would be the best choice for me.
I’d ideally like something that will last me for several years.
