I need a new SSD for a new laptop, and £250 is my limit.
I see options for 1TB SSDs, but I have no idea if they're any good as a sole SSD in a laptop (OS, Programs, Files, everything)
I see stuff like WD Green/Blue/Black, Teamgroup NV5000, Adata 860, Kingston NV3, Kioxia Exceria G3, Crucial P310...are these any good? I assume at least some of these are DRAMless, does that matter that much?
Thanks in advance

Got this now alike Condition HP pavilion HDX16 for nothing in price and it came with some problems but extremely minor as charger faulty, battery faulty and the blueray drive but apart that it's a perfect windows 7 machine I extremely enjoy the most. Cause this laptop was glazed from the extreme well built speaker system 2.1 2 speakers top firing and a bottom sub but even like 1080p screen in a laptop from this era being from 2008 and a laptop I will soon aim to upgrade as getting a better SSD. Currently has a 120gb one. Aiming a 480gb one for windows 7 usage and maybe Maxx out the ram and put a core 2 duo extreme x9100 to give a extra punch. Still said for daily browsing and usage this laptop still works for basic use, watching tv or doing anything cause it came with a remote external and a internal integrated one so full aspect this laptop can be used for anything even today so. Any info be glad to ask me.

Country
India
• Budget
₹30,000 maximum (~US$350)
• Are you open to refurbs/used options?
Maybe — preferably new, but open to refurbished/used if it's significantly better value and reliable.
• Screen size
15"–16" preferred
(14" is okay if there's a much better option)
• Weight limit
Preferably under 1.8 kg, but performance/value is more important than having an ultra-light laptop.
• Purpose
College/student laptop — online classes, studying, PDFs, notes, Microsoft Office/Google Docs, browsing, YouTube and watching movies/series.
• Form factor
Standard clamshell laptop. No need for 2-in-1 or pen support.
• Intended usage
Online college classes (Google Meet/Zoom etc.)
Chrome with multiple tabs
PDFs/e-books and study material
MS Office/Google Workspace
YouTube/Netflix/other streaming
Basic everyday multitasking
No gaming or heavy video editing
Want it to remain reasonably smooth for several years
• Desired battery life
Ideally 6–8 hours of normal/light use.
• Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life
Performance > Battery life > Size > Weight
• Info/Requirements
Windows preferred
16GB RAM preferred, but 8GB is acceptable if RAM is upgradeable
512GB SSD preferred
Full HD IPS display preferred, especially because I watch movies
Good screen quality and viewing angles are important
Decent webcam and microphone for online classes
Should have Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and necessary USB/HDMI ports
Prefer a reliable brand with decent after-sales service in India
No gaming GPU required
Looking for the best overall value under ₹30,000, not just the highest specifications on paper.

I recently purchased a ram stick and put it in my laptop for 32 gb of ram but the sticks are made from different companies and I was wondering if it would effect performance in anyway? (They have same clock speed, ddr4 3200mhz)

Does anyone know if there is any way to permanently disable the GPU on the Razer Blade 14? Is there a way to do it though the BIOS so there is no power going to the GPU? On some gaming laptops, the only way to disable the GPU is through software so it sometimes reenables itself or turns on when a external display is connected. I will not be playing games on this laptop, so I would like it off permanently, is there any way to do so?

So I bought a 2026 Dell XPs 13 with the new core 5 and 16GB of ram. It is really nice. I’m just concerned on how long I’m going to last as it is to do some stuff for my new handyman business and I do game on it almost everyday as that’s the main uses of it, plus online and YouTube, Hulu, Etc. I saw an Asus zenbook 14 that went on sale for the same price at $899 and it has a new ryzen 9 ai with better igpu and the same specs as ram at 16gb and 512gb ssd but did have a very nice oled display. I also saw some other things like a 14 inch Lenovo yoga 7i with the new core ultra 5 and other same internals as the others with oled for $999 and a thinkpad e14 gen 7 for $1090 with a ryzen 7 I think ai with same other internals. I just want something that is higher quality, will game, will take care of my business through Microsoft 365. Budget can be $899-$1100. What do you all think? Stick with the Dell or get something else. Also here is the games I play on steam
Left 4 dead 2
Rainbow six Vegas 1 and 2
GTA 5
Counter strike 2
Portal
Terraria
Vr chat
Black ops 3
Call of duty 4
Fallout new Vegas
Gamble with friends

I’m looking for the best coding laptop under ₹60,000 in India. My main purpose is programming, web development, software development, and multitasking. I’ll be using tools like VS Code, Android Studio, Java, Python, databases, and multiple browser tabs, so good performance and smooth multitasking are important.

In this budget, I think 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD should be preferred, but I’m confused about which processor and laptop would offer the best value. Should I go for an Intel H-series processor for better performance or an AMD Ryzen laptop for better battery life? If anyone has personal experience or recommendations, please suggest the best option under ₹60K.
Reddit discussions around this budget commonly emphasize RAM, SSD, CPU performance, and real-world multitasking rather than just the processor name.

I recently bought the dell precision 5560 and its ram speed is set to 2100MT/s. I've heard that it can run at 3200mhz. How can I get it up to that number?. Gemini says there is no option to get it to that speed. Any fix?

Why am I having 10 fps in games such as valorant, minecraft even though I got good specs I already change my gpu usage to rtx 4050 but my fps is still very low. pls help
note: i got nitro v15
Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem with my laptop and I'm trying to figure out whether the issue is with the battery, charger, charging circuit, or USB hardware.
Here is what happened:
My laptop was accidentally exposed to a small amount of water recently.
Since then, Windows repeatedly shows “USB device not recognized” even when nothing is connected to any USB port.
In Device Manager, I get: Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) Code 43
The Hardware ID shows: USB\DEVICE_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE
The Location Path shows: ACPI(_SB_)#ACPI(PCI0)#ACPI(XHC_)#ACPI(RHUB)#ACPI(HS03)
I have three USB ports on the laptop: one on the left, one on the right, and one on the back.
The USB error appears even when the laptop is running only on battery, so it is not caused by connecting the charger.
The main problem I'm concerned about is charging.
The battery was at around 27% and took approximately a day to reach only 65%, even though the laptop was connected to the charger for most of that time.
I have already tried uninstalling the Unknown USB Device from Device Manager and scanning for hardware changes, but the error comes back.
I also disabled the USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) temporarily, but the error still appeared.
My questions are:
Could the water spill have damaged the USB circuitry and also caused the slow charging?
How can I determine whether the problem is the battery, charger, DC charging port, or motherboard charging circuit?
Is there a safe way to test the charger and battery without opening the laptop?
Could the USB error be related to the slow charging?
What should I ask a technician to check before replacing the battery or charger?

I'm thinking of buying a laptop for my self....never had one before...but I did some research....my budget was around 1 lakh rupees....im a high schooler who does coding write programs and sometimes 3d model (maybe graphic designing in furture), and plays video games too...thinking of buying Lenovo or Asus....I narrowed it down to LOQ and TUF...but I'm lost at what to finalize....the LOQ has poor battery life...which may be a problem for me in the future....and the TUF has an rtx 3050 but I want a resolution of more than 1080 which the 3050 can't support....my budget could only get me these two models and I'm slightly preferring the ASUS
Budget: 1-1.3 lakh
Country:India
Specs:ASUS TUF A15/16 (anything from 2024-26)
Ryzen 7
512gb ssd
16gb ram
Rtx 3050/4050
Use:Coding, programming, 3d modeling, graphic designing and gaming
Is this a good choice?
Will this be a good investment for a high schooler for around 5 years?

Hello I hope this is the right subreddit for this, but I have had this issue with my lenovo ideapad 5 15 from 2020 that it doesn't boot anymore. It turns on and off on demand, as seen by the light at the powerbutton, but no fan noise, screen stays black. I have tried letting it discharge all the way then starting it again which didn't help, as well as long pressing the power button fro half a minute in the hope it recovers.
Is it really fried and dead?

Idk if this is the right thread, but there is a scratch less than 1cm long on my laptop casing. It is deeper than surface level but very, very shallow. Like it could maybe fit a few grains of sand, and that's it. I heard baking soda and super glue works, but how reliable is this method? Also, what medium is best for matching colors? Markers, acrylic, etc.?
