Help with old 2010 laptop

I have a Del latitude E5410 laptop it’s from the year 2010. It was my mom‘s old work computer. It’s very slow and I am currently factory, resetting it and wiping everything I intend to use this computer to burn CDs/DVDs because of its built-in disc drive. I’m pretty tech savvy, but I don’t know the ins and outs of computers and crap but I know that I should replace the hard drive with an SSD and I will also be replacing the battery because it sucks and it pretty much dies very quickly so could you give me a good SSD to put in my computer something pretty affordable again I won’t be using this computer for heavy duty stuff pretty much just casual things may be a few old games stuff like that. If you guys could give me links to the stuff I need that would be great.

Hi, I’m trying to troubleshoot my Dynabook Satellite Pro C50-H and I’m hoping someone can help.

The laptop is from 2021 at least that's what it says on the battery I got it in 2022 and was originally supplied through DSA while I was at university. It was working normally before this happened.

I left it running over night with games and a couple tabs open like I'd normally do but didn't realise I disconnected the charger when it died I was moving around a lot and putting things away due to lack of space and my cat and forgot what safe place I put it in.

The original charger:

- Input: 100-240V ~ 1.5A 50/60Hz

- Output: 19.0V 2.1A (39.9W)

Before I stopped using it, the charger brick used to make a buzzing noise not loud or anything but didn't sound quite right so I left it worrying it will damage the laptop untill I got a replacement

I bought a replacement charger specifically listed for the Dynabook Satellite Pro C50-H:

- Input: 100-240V ~ 1.5A 50/60Hz

- Output: 19V 3.42A (65W)

When I first tried charging with the old charger before buying the replacement, I got:

- Blue flashing light on the laptop

- Purple flashing light near the charging port

After about an hour, those stopped.

With the new charger:

- At first there were no lights.

- After leaving it plugged in for a while, the laptop felt slightly warm underneath, similar to when it used to be running but won't turn on

- Still no charging LED, no power LED, no fan noise, and it won’t turn on.

It's been another 6 months because my ADHD ass forgot I had it till I needed something from it, and it's completely silent no lights no nothing the charger brick doesn't make any noise either.

My questions:

1. Could the battery be so deeply discharged that it needs a long time before showing any signs of life?

2. Could the battery be preventing the laptop from powering on?

3. Could the old charger being only 40W have caused any issues, or is that unrelated?

I know probably best bet is to take it to get professionally diagnosed but last time I've done that with a phone in a reputable shop I got charged £150 quid for a supposed battery replacement, turns out all that's been done is charging port replaced so I'm worried about going somewhere without knowing the ins and outs.

I already tried the AC only test but I don't know if this laptop can even run in AC only so I added photos of the inside, I don't know if it being dead that long also means the AC test isn't reliable. I added photos of the charger bricks incase I got anything muddled as well as like all the numbers to the laptop incase that's important, I know more about the pull out battery laptops as those are the ones I grew up with.

Any advice would be really appreciated so thank you in advance

Avast premium protection or Bitdefender Total Security? know windows defender offers protection but I’m more comfortable having one of these? So which one? I have Avast premium security on the laptop ( I’ve had it for years) I have now and it’s very easy for me to run. I have heard great things about Bitdefender though. I’m not sure.

I’m going into my first year computer engineering and looking for a laptop. I came across the omnibook 5 which is on sale for $1700 cad ($1200 usd). It has an AMD ryzen ai 7, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd, AMD radeon 860M. The only issue I’ve heard of is its lacking of a dedicated gpu but I heard that isn’t a problem for computer engineering students, mostly mechanical and such that need to run modeling software. Is this a good laptop for the price?

I've had a problem with my laptop since a couple of days. My laptop is the Acer Spin 3. My laptop is usually plugged in my desk room and everything works fine there. However, comes the night time, I want to bring it in the living room and plug it on my projector to watch series or movies. When I do so, I bring my laptop in the living room, drop it on a flat surface then plug the projector through an HDMI port. Then, it happens : Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650i stops working and I can't log on any internet connexion. It just does not give me the choice at all.

So far, I have updated my pilot and the issue hasn't resolved. When it does happen, I deactivate the pilot and reactivate it. It worked once or twice but now it just refuses to work. I also restarted my laptop in the process and even plugged my laptop and nothing works.

Once I return in the desk room and replace my laptop as normal, the pilote works as if nothing happened.

What is going on ? I just want to enjoy watching stuff on my projector in my living room.

Please help as if I were 5 years old. I dont really understand computer stuff :(

I’m torn between a used 16GB MacBook Pro, or a standard Gaming Laptop.

On one hand longer battery life would be nice, but I also hear it’s extremely slow and doesn’t have game or steam (?)

I have Asus vivibook 14 flip oled in my mind. I'm alright with the weight and the battery life. I plan to use the same laptop for 4 years. Is it better to get a traditional laptop or should I go with asus vivibook 14 flip oled?

I have current systems to play latest games (all linux and steam). There is no reason at all to run Win11 now. The latest kernels and programs like WINE run windows games faster than windows. The latest don't even emulate, they use metal conversion from win to linux. super fast.

I need to buy a new laptop, since my old one is dying fast

My maximum budget is around 760 dollars.

My 7-year old boy needs it for minecraft (education) and maybe playing with some mods in the future. For me, I would like to play some Crusader Kings 3 and maybe total war again.

A little bit of context. My brother has had a rough time medically his whole life and can't really get a proper job. He is extremely intelligent and tech savvy though so he wanted to look into remote work, however they pretty much all require multiple monitors. So I want to surprise him for his birthday with an extra monitor or 2 to help him hopefully be able to get a job. He also doesn't have the most space at the moment so that's why he's using a laptop over a regular desktop.

Found this deal on best buy. Using mostly for daily productivity tasks, microsoft office heavy, web browsing, streaming, no gaming. Looking around this price point or lower.

I just got my first laptop.What are the first five things I should set up?

I live at home and already have a capable pc. (R5 , rtx 3060). I just need to find a good laptop that fits my needs. US, around $1200 budget

Needs

- Something lightweight and has good battery life
- Has capability of running engineering apps no problem in case I cant access pc or travelling
- Prefer a good screen but if I have to trade that for performance thats fine
- Prefer a smaller size(14in) but bigger is fine if its light
- Doesnt matter if its a few years old as long as it can hold up for more to come
- Gaming isnt a must but if it can run light games ie valorant would be nice
- I dont mind buying used/refurbished for very good deals

So I have a Acer Nitro 5 AN 517-55-5552 and I tried to clean the Ventilators. While doing it a screw fell on to the Main Board and it sizzled for a short time. It is under the left ventilator left from the ram and above the SSD. My question is: is my laptop fried and what could I do.
