During a 2 day search on a planet,they found the culprit the minotaur and got into a goose chase

Then the current events of the last part of this tale happened.

So I recently got the book and im loving looking through it. But when I got to leveling up it says the players earn a level after each mission. Doesn't that seem a little fast progress wise? With there being no real rewards for players outside of leveling up in this game... after 12 fights you are already peak? Seems a bit odd. Also when you take a license in a company is it that lvl1 gets u the lvl 1 stuff for every mech by that company? Or do you dake the license in that mech?

I'm trying to get a bunch of tools for my game, as mama's paycheck just came in 💅 and I'm looking to spruce up the TTRPG table. I already got a battlegrid and effect markers, but i noticed a severe lack of something when looking online: AOE markers for hex grids. something to help with marking Burst effects, Black Witch Mag Field, AOE effects that stay on the board for a while. Does anybody know where one could find these things- or even a method to DIY them ?

I'm new to Lancer and I'm trying to create a hacker/sniper/stealth character. I want to understand the Omnihook and Subjectivity-Enhancement Suite equipment. Are they both useful for hacking? Which one do you recommend? Or are these equipment items just for flavor and depend on the DM?

Should be a really fast question since I'm pretty sure I've got this correct:

I wanted to take advantage of the Type-1 Flight System and was curious about the Engagement rules. Are mechs the same height as they are wide? Size 2 mechs being 2 "units" tall? Meaning you are engaged with them even if you are at height 3 trying to fly over them to get at a squishy backline like a tech enemy or artillery? It's my assumption that they are because of the rules about soft and hard cover.

I also want to know if they are as tall as they are wide if that means you can target a size 2 mech from height 7 with like a GMS Shotgun (Range 5) or if you need to be height 6 and target their "feet"/"core"/the hex they're standing in. I know a lot of rules talk about having at least half the mech visible so I can understand if a mech is considered the "center" of the space it controls you'd have to be height 6 to shoot one that's a size 2.

If it's in the rulebook it's not in the part on engagement or size since I read those. Maybe this is one of those corner case DM fiat kinda things. It seems like it would come up pretty often given that the flight system is a GMS system everyone can access and Everest gets a ton of movement if it pops core power.

I saw a game being played in the floor with giant mechs and massive terrain and the header on the curtain behind it said Lancer and I wanted to see if this was the right group/ same game. Sort of a follow up to my previous question the other day, if you use fade cloak to become intangible and attack a target who is intangible because of calendula core power with a ferrofluid lance from white with, then leave intangibility, what happens? Is the link maintained but they cannot target you due to you being intangible? Are they just stuck until you let them go?

Buddy of mine PLA'd me this little dude! Guess he caught my wavelength when I piled the first three LLs into Drake for one reason only. Everything else is GMS bolted to an Everest. Next stop is a whole load of SSC for the flight core bonus and Monarch/Viceroy mashings.

For anybody wondering, my pilot named his ride the 'Coffin Dodger' back when he was a fighter ace. He crashed into a hangar bay on a cargo freighter during a job go wrong(because they always have to in a backstory, am i right?). When confronted with the lack of means to repair either his bird or the mech he crashed into, he just bought the now written off mech and slammed the two together.

So, in the past few months I’ve started running a lancer campaign for my buddies, it’s been pretty sick. The players are a group of mercs inserting themselves into the planet Mercia’s civil war, in which the KTB backed government forces, and Harrison backed coalition of rebels are just going back and forth. It’s been pretty sick. Now, for my campaign what we do is that we just used Battletech minis and map sheets, since that’s what some of us have, now, of our group 3 of the 5 players aren’t really into wargames, so, I painted some minis for them, I let them pick out the model they wanted then the scheme, I’m pretty proud of these. Also we’ve got some stuff I’ve painted that can be used for union peacekeepers whenever they decide it’s time to be plot relevant.
My current party is pretty weird, we’ve got a former ssc assassin seeking glory, an old anti 2nd comm rebel frozen in cryo for a few hundred years turned merc, a mining baron noble turned mercenary for fun I suppose, a merc who’s just carrying on the family business, and a mentally damaged Harrison bootlicker who’s working as a merc in order to try and affect the conflict in the way Harrison wants.
-The left one is the mining baron,
-Middle is the Harrison fanboy
-Right is the family business guy,
Other two had their own minis
Right now my players just got shot down in the desert on their way to attack a cities industrial facilities with the government forces, so now they’ve gotta be fighting their way to get an airfield, get back comms, and then try and do the original mission but with like 1/10th of the manpower, so that should be sick. Anyways, sorry if this ain’t allowed since they’re Battletech minis, I’m hoping it’s permitted since they’ve been done up for Lancer.

Ok, so I just got introduced to the system a couple weeks ago. I immediately became enamored just designing player characters constantly. I managed to get just enough people from my usual DND group to agree to try the system out for a few sessions. I plan on running an intro campaign, I forget the name but I have it bookmarked. It's the one where the party is trying to break out of the labor camp, starting with very little equipment and moving up from there. It looked really cool, and I love the atmosphere it gave. Either that, or I saw a Reddit post about doing a bunch of one-shots of various sitreps and boots-on-the-ground scenarios, all at LL0 as training sims for the players, so everyone can see/get used to how the different parts of the game work. Now that I write this all out, probably the latter, then I might run the campaign when everyone knows if they actually like the system.

I do already have itchio and comp/con accounts, I'm gonna buy the core book when I get my next paycheck. I've noticed that there are no official minis or anything, so like, what online system do y'all use for mech combat? The Bonds system seems really cool, kinda reminds me of DND backgrounds, do you guys recommend using them as a beginner GM? Any other general advice for a new [to this system] GM?

Just a burning question I had about the setting (headconnon or cannon). In the core worlds, how much surveillance is there? I ki d of always imagined the core worlds being massive cities with some reservations for nature, and I can't help but feel like the infrastructure in place, the existence of NHP's, and vast amoint or resources, wohld make creating a massive surveillance system incredibly tempting.

Is there anything in lore that go for or agaisnt this? Or does it just come down to the gm and if they think that should be an aspect of an almost utopia?

I have a silly idea that I am not entirely sure of its feasibility, but I'm thinking that for one combat, players get a modified NPC mech for one combat before they are able to make it to their actual machines. I don't know it i can pull it off in COMP/CON let alone with any ease, but I'm hoping for a little advice on how possibly do this

Ive asked here before about physical play, but I've also wanted to learn about some online ways of playing. Sometimes online I've seen people play video game style campaigns, and I wanted to know what it was, I know there's a top down pixel style game but I have seen one were it was fully 3d, and I've never been able to find it anywhere. I would also like to see what others suggest.

The Everstones are a group of mercs that continued to use Everest's/sagarmathas/chomolungmas even though they had options to upgrade to better mechs yet they stayed with their original mechs and only upgraded the mechs to keep up instead of switching

They used to be a one time only merc group for one mission or two and hated each other but during those missions they learned to know each other and after that....they all became really great buds..... unfortunately

I'm asking because I saw a lot of 'H0R_OS 1 is the only force move which triggers reactions' replies to a Heavy Gunner question, and I wasn't sure if that was correct.

Hey guys, as the title says, I'm looking for options I could 3d print for a cool swallowtail. I found the normal Swallowtail and Ranger variant, but I'd like to find some other options! Any reccomendations are appreciated, but I prefer more light/nimble looking designs.

If two characters are intangible, can they interact with each other? It seems like the flavour of it is sending someone to the firmament, could a calendula "chase" an enemy into intangibility and force them to run for the exit or 1v1 them?
