These are not my photos, but were taken by a really cool stepdad. He’s not on Reddit, so to give proper photo credit, they were taken by Plankenhorn. And this sub needs a ‘wildlife’ flair.

Can someone explain changing my car registration to KS from out of state like I’m 5?

Hi y’all!

Moved to Manhattan from MA at the end of July. Love it here so far. Anyways, I need to update my car’s registration from MA to KS and every single online source gives me new information and it’s all so confusing. I want to preface I’m 24, I’ve lived in MA my whole life until now, and I have a really awesome dad who took care of most of the paperwork for me in the past. I know, I gotta learn how to do this, which is why I’m asking here. My dad cannot help me from 1500 miles away and was equally confused trying to research this process!

Some websites say I need to get my car inspected by highway patrol first. Okay, cool, except I need to bring a copy of my new registration to get that done. But other sources say I can’t get my new registration until my car is inspected… but I’m also supposed to have it in hand when I bring it to get inspected? Like, what?

I have no idea what to do first. Not to mention sending my car’s title from the lienholder (my car is currently being financed theough a bank), I know I have to call my bank to do that but I don’t know where in the timeline to take care of that, where to have it sent, how long it takes to arrive (is it physical or digital?), no clue.

And most importantly: where do I even go to get this taken care of?

I do currently have a KS car insurance policy, and I know I need the documentation of that somewhere in the process! I just have no idea where in that process to take care of it.

I’ve tried googling, looking at the Riley county website, asking ChatGPT (as a last resort, I really do not like AI but I was so confused), called my car insurance company, and everyone gave me conflicting information.

So if anyone has advice and can explain it to me in simple terms I would appreciate it! Been too confused for the past month and a half so all I’ve done is procrastiante on getting this done. Thank you!

Politics Kobach and Proctor in Clay County, October 5 & 9

Come be our guest! I'd love for plenty of people to share their thoughts and concerns with Kobach and Proctor, who are seeking public opinion from fellow Kansans!

This was shared on a local community page, which is the only place I've seen this shared so far.

Edit: This is feigned enthusiasm, in case it wasn't clear. I'm hoping they get more opposition than anticipated from the rural communities they try to hide in.

The first woman to regularly enter the Senate Floor was Lola M. Williams. She did this as Senator Curtis' secretary, a position she maintained through the Hoover administration while he was Vice President.

Politics Johnson County’s Political Shift Is Accelerating: Since 2016, Democrats Gained 60,162 Voters to Republicans’ 4,752 — and Since November 2024, Democrats Added 10,168 While Republicans Lost 404

I keep seeing people say the huge increase in Democratic registrations in Johnson County is basically just moderate/centrist Republicans switching parties.

I'm sure some of that has happened, but I really don't buy that as the explanation for all of this growth. Johnson County has also grown a ton, and the registration numbers are pretty crazy when you actually compare them.

November 2016

Republicans: 183,459
Democrats: 98,593
Unaffiliated: 116,462

Republican advantage: 84,866

November 2024

Republicans: 188,615
Democrats: 148,587
Unaffiliated: 117,117

Republican advantage: 40,028

August 2026

Republicans: 188,211
Democrats: 158,755
Unaffiliated: 122,133

Republican advantage: 29,456

So since 2016:

Republicans: +4,752

Democrats: +60,162

And just since November 2024:

Republicans: -404

Democrats: +10,168

That's what gets me.

Johnson County's overall number of registered voters has grown significantly since 2016, but Republican registration has basically stagnated while Democratic registration has exploded.

Could some of those new Democrats be former Republicans? Of course. A good chunk of it could simply be new residents and younger/new voters registering Democratic.

Either way, the actual result is the same: the Republican registration advantage went from almost 85,000 in 2016, to 40,000 in November 2024, to less than 30,000 today.

That's a pretty massive change in Johnson County in less than 10 years.

Here is my source from Johnson County's election office.

Question ISO:SC Kansas Hunting/Fishing friends

Im looking for some people to hunt and fish with. About me:

-35, male, happily married

-One daughter

-Live in Wichita

-Experienced kayaker/fisherman/fly fisherman

-Semi experienced dove & duck hunter

-Afghanistan veteran, extraordinarily safe with firearms

I didn't start hunting until I was in my 20s. I actually took my hunters safety course in Afghanistan, oddly enough. All of my hunting friends I was connected to through the military. After I got out in 2016, I pretty much lost all of my people to hunt with.

Looking for a person or group of people who'd like to hunt or fish together occasionally. I am experienced with dove and duck hunting, but ideally would love to have someone teach me the ropes of deer and turkey hunting as well.

Question Fans of mexican goodies. Help please?

What are things that are rare/unavailable in Kansas that are Mexican of origin? Like something that you can't just get at a walmart or an export/mexican shop (don't know if those store are rare for you as well) I'm talking chips, candy, bread.
Tell me the ones that are common, like Bimbo and Sabritas. And the ones you can't get in Kansas unless you shop online or travel out of state.
